I can remember rushing back home after school just so I can play Red Alert 2, sucked my social life but it was worth it to experience one of the GOAT's of RTS games.
Back in the golden days, engineer rushing was absolutely hilarious and frowned upon. Engineers are absolutely OP and exploitable.
Nothing is as memorable as that one time I rushed a base using a bunch of repair IFVs and four grizzlies and slowly selling off my opponent's base.

Red Alert 2 was the first RTS I ever played when I was like nine years old. I had no idea what I was doing (still don't,) but the bright, detailed art and quirky aesthetic really appealed to child me (still does.) Still one of the greatest RTS's ever made, here's hoping they do a remaster of it soon like they did the first. If not, at least we still have Mental Omega

The MUSIC is the best thing about the Red Alert series, was banging my head all the way through the video.... Also "KIROV REPORTING!"
I love this game, it's a cult classic, but at the same time I think it's the one to blame for all the silliness of the Red Alert timeline. RA1 also had dumb stuff but it was overall a "serious" game about an alternate WWII/Cold War gone wrong with even some dark undertones.
Red Alert 3 may be the worst of all in that sense, but it was RA2 who started the trend, with giant squids and soviets so cartoonishly evil that they have a Psychic bald/Lenin trying to mind-control the world💀💀
In RA2, it's mostly the Allied Campaign that was campy. The Soviets was campy at the beginning but begins to have a more serious tone when Yuri becomes the antagonist.
Sadly in Yuri's Revenge, almost all the seriousness goes out the window and in RA3, the seriousness was non existent
It was still made by the same people that did RA1, and with RA2 they've fully realized their vision. RA3 was made by completely different set of people, and while game was not bad, design, tone and story were ridiculous.
@@DembilajaRed Alert 1 was made by Westwood Las Vegas, Red Alert 2 was made by Westwood Pacific. It was approved by Brett Sperry, but worked by a different team. It's still Westwood C&C because some people from Westwood Las Vegas worked on it alongside Westwood Pacific, but the tone and execution were different.
RA2 was peak. RA3 took it too far, while at the same time had this sanitized feel.

Something I've always wondered...
How does a single engineer *instantly* capture an enemy structure the moment he steps inside? Like, some fucking nerd goes into an occupied barracks, full of armed enemy soldiers, possibly elite units, and in rare cases an enemy commando, and he *instantly* takes it over.
Are engineers secretly the deadliest fighters in the world, but are too shy to show it on the battlefield?
He turns the lights off
He has some paint in the coffer he's holding to paint the base rhe correct color. Yuri's engineer always mumbles about needing a new paint job too.
"Ah shit, some nerd just painted our barracks purple. All hail Yuri I guess..."
in RA1, he can only capture a building if its HP is in the red
if HP is not red, he would damage it instead by some amount
so you may need the whole APC of engineers to actually capture a single building; it makes an engineer rush a lot less effective
they didn't keep this mechanic in later C&C games

This work is so underrated, a summary of what the experience of playing these games was like, documented in meme format. Sure one might say they're just a series of jokes, but I think you've really been able to capture the spirit of these games so far.
