The school WAYYYY overreacted. It’s ketchup, it’s harmless and relatively easy to clean up. They shouldn’t have their walk, party, and field trip taken away. Also the mom is amazing for calling them out on their bullshit

With that first story, my school has rules on which stairs you go up or down, too, but they put the sign for the stairs that go down only at the top of the stairs vise versus for the other staircase, so it’s kind of ineffective. I remember I watched a kid get in trouble with a teacher for going up the down stairs and heard him say, “well how am I supposed to know when the sign is at the top?”
The moral of the story is ketchup is important

as someone who has grown up around lawyers, and plans to be one, the school did something against your rights. the bill of rights (number 4) states that no unreasonable searches can happen without a warrant. so unless the school had legal clearance, that was illegal.
