Almere (city near Amsterdam) was the first city in The Netherlands to apply this system back in 2008. This system is even incorporated in the newer buildings in the city center, so that residents can throw away their garbage inside their own apartment building and from there it gets transported to a central location. I just have to take the elevator downstairs, throw it in the container and that's it. Cleaner building, cleaner city and no smelly (and polluting) garbage trucks in the city center. Indeed, future is here ;-)

This is fascinating! I am not sure why Chicago doesn't do this, it's the perfect city for it: There already are underground streets, sidewalks, etc. Put them in the high traffic, high tourist areas.
You would not believe the filthy garbage cans in downtown Chicago.

For me the only issues is people is not sorting them properly. At a shopping centre next to the place I work out. The cleaning crew just put everything in one they don’t even recycle

Sadly a lot of people just dont care. Plus, while we are told we should conserve resources, the rich are flying in private jets and living lavishly

Is it a vacuum? How heavy can it suck? Surely garbage is more than just dust..

We have an Envac system in our London Apartment. There are 3 bins, one for non-recyclable stuff, organic stuff and other for recyclable stuff. You can pop in a 10L trash bag into them and it will suck it up. Pretty amazing.

Something they should think about implementing would be a fail safe, such as motion sensors and distress buttons internally as people today have no commonsense

It's actually ripped off from @notjustbikes vid from 4 years ago. Even took a bunch of his footage.

Beginning of the vid sounds a lot like a copy of @notjustbikes video from 4 years ago. You even used his footage taking out the bin and no credit in sight...

My biggest worry now is that all those little furry animals cats and dogs and whatever else can be slipped down that tube and now they don't even stand a chance least in the garbage can the garbage man would hear them and find them now they won't be heard or seen I think that was a stupid idea
