Interestingly, while the daily morning and evening recitals are solo performances presented in a sitting posture, Veenai Ekantham during the Era Pathu Thiruvoimozhi festival is presented in a group (currently 5 members) in a standing posture with the Veena tied to their shoulder. In all, they present around 250 pasurams during this Tamil Prabandham festival.
Our family was blessed by Namperumal and Sriranga Nachiar to witness this invaluable event during Rapathu of Adhyayana uthsavam in Periyakoil or Koil of Srivaishnavism. Bhoolaka Vaikuntam Etheeyathe. Chakravarthithirumagan poojitha Perumal.
The recital is pure nectar , stirs the soul and brings tears and goose bumps . Sri Ranganathar 's Ekanda Sevai is unique .Sadly I don't find this Veena recital in the videos currently . Can someone throw background information as to how the Mysore turban came to be worn in these recitals? Did it start with Mysore vidwans originally? This is unique since normally headgears are removed before a deity.
These are not Mysore turbans. These are SriVaishnava headgears worn for one and perhaps when Ramanuja came to Mysore from Srirangam on exile it would have spread there
