FYI: I know there is more to Teknoparrot (you can also add a Wii Bar so you can use the Wii Mote as a lightgun for example) but i wanted to make an easy and understandable video for people who are interested in running Arcade games on their PC.

Haven't tested it, but yea, it should theoretically work. But I think just connecting the Wii bar would suffice.
@@Clos93 it works great but just setting it up .... jesus such a pain. the dolphin bar and wii controller work just took so long to set up and actually get it to work full screen is a mess.
Teknoparrot got me through Covid-19 times. Arcades were closed and it was tough mentally. Playing those games again put a smile on my face.

it's like ordering Uber eats and complaining how much fun it'll be sitting eating at that location. As much fun as it is, the space, time and other factors limit people access to owning arcade machines or experiencing it in person. Plus, this will preserve and allow people to experience these games even after these arcade machines are gone.

@@fistbumpbros Great, and you think the world lives next door to these venues? Bro, clearly you don't get it. I understand that is something you prefer. Hell every arcade gamer would love to own all these arcades or play them, but sadly that's not how reality works. These programs allow you to experience games that you never could have. You can very well make the same setup at home for most arcades, if you really want the same experience.
Well, that's what I said in the video. And ive agreed with other as well on that argument, never said I didn't. I can't decide where these venues will be in every country, but I can help pinpoint them for people and make life easier.
hi im an arcade engineer - yep Mach Storm is awesome but repeative - if u ever sit down in the cabinet, its a projector onto a dome and its quite an experience playing it
True. I was at the arcade a month ago (before everything got shut down again) and played it. It's the same as the Star Wars one. It's cool in the arcade, but underwhelming at home.
Oh I played that game at a Dave & Busters, it's definitely really cool!
Yap, but only in short bursts. It gets tiresome as it misses a good storyline like the Ace Combat games to keep you engaged.
I’ve been using Teknoparrot for a little while and I’m loving it. One thing to note is that some games only work with a keyboard, but if you use something like JoyToKey it fixes the issue.
Which games specifically? All games I tested worked fine with a joypad.

I feel you, but I love using my Teknoparrot to play Initial D and not spend a shit ton of money. I played Arcade Stages from 1-5 and spent hundreds of dollars and have dozens of game cards. I love using TP because it makes it accessible since nowadays, you'd be hard pressed to find an Initial D arcade game on any amusement type place. Great video and very informative.
Thank you. To each it's own of course: not everyone also has arcades or funding available to play arcade games to the infinite. I still frequently visit big arcade venues once a month that have the latest and retro arcade cabinets in their installments (on free play with an entrance fee) and I enjoy it.
What monitor stand are you using? I could never find one that allowed the screen to rotate to full vertical

Hey , thanks for all your videos, i love them. Quick question I have. I am running Teknoparrot on my Omen HP Laptop 15 inch I think 2017 model LAPTOP-R56MEKO2 with
Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-7700HQ CPU @ 2.80GHz 2.81 GHz
8.00 GB (7.87 GB usable) and some games work , ie H2overdrive almost smooth but still has some frame rate hiccups and slowdown during intense moments. I am thinking of buying a lower end modern gaming pc tower and was wondering if the specs on even a lower modern pc might be incompatible with teknoparrot ? OR.. is it a case of anything newer and better than what I have now would have to run the games much better ??? Batman is unplayable on mine as is most racing games especially mario kart gp which just stutters and dolphin and gamecube have garbled sound.

Hey man, Teknoparrot is very GPU reliant. I ran Teknoparrot on a i3 cpu with an Nvidia 1030 GPU. Teknoparrot runs well and smooth on low end 2012 machines. Multiple people have said that some games run smooth, while some don't. Imho, I think the GPU is the more important factor, combined with proper GPU and DX drivers to run the games smoothly. So far, I found the winning combo going the medium hardware route.
Most games require an Nvidia GPU to run nicely..
Some will run ok with integrated graphics and some will run well in AMD cards with patch fixes etc but ultimately you need nvidia for TP
Yes, that is true. I recently ran Teknoparrot and I found that Nvidia works the best for compatibility.
As long as you have an Nvidia GPU, realistically to run all games a GTX 1660 or even as a minimum a GTX 1050ti, there are a few titles more demanding than others, some games will work with less powerful GPU's at 60fps but for games like Virtua Fighter Esports it needs a GTX 1660 as a reference point, AMD GPU's do have patches for them that allow a lot of the games to work but others just point blank will not. CPU wise any half decent I5 or possibly i3 at a push if that is what you have, ram wise you can get away with 8gb but better with 16 GB if you want to play them all, the one thing you will absolutely want is an SSD but a full set of arcade dumps currently takes around 1.5 TB so you will want around a 500gb as a minimum SSD and at least a 2gb 2nd hard drive either internal or external it won't matter as long as it is usb 3.0 to keep all but the most slow loading or extensive games on, hope this helps.

Hi, it's an Acer Predator XB253QGP. But the monitor clamp is what gets it into portrait mode. It's one with a gas spring.

You're certainly right on those japanese games. I've been waiting for a Round 1 or something that will get them in my city, but that will likely never happen.
Most commercial vendors always check what's going to be lucrative to them instead of pleasing the crowd. There are some (sponsored) vendors that buy machines because they personally like them and want to let the crowd enjoy it as well.

Informative video.... I got Tekno Parrot I got like two games running.... and then got tired of trying to mess with it.... I was also making my RetroBat build, so I left TP alone..... maybe get back at TP during the summer....
Yea its still a chore to get all games running, not an easy task at all.
Looks like the Netherlands has a good arcade scene. Have not been to the Netherlands since 2002. Might be time to return.

I just use TP cause 2 important factors:
1) Online Server for MKGPDX to save.
2) Elf Loader can run N2 system, basically the unique emulator (now, we can call emulation cause it's a Linux game on Windows) which I can run Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3. Not the modern Wangan garbage.

I need to upgrade my graphics card for my teknoparrot setup. It plays most fine but things like Transformers has some real delay in it.
I agree the home playing is only part of the experience.
That 1030 that I installed will do the trick. Don't know if you can get that these days, with all the crazy prices. I regularly visit many different arcades and that is still the main core. It's something that cannot be beaten.

Sounds like whats needed is to build a full size cabinet with a steering wheel and light guns. Obviously not everyone’s going want to do this but for enthusiasts I think its worth it
Yes that is a possibility. You'll have to program everything automated so it takes care of the startup processes though, could be a drag.
Wasn't there some controversy surrounding TeknoParrot several years ago? I remember reading reviews against but I didn't care because it was the only way to play new Initial D games since we didn't have a Round 1.
I seriously have no clue, have to check up on that. Nonetheless; there's nothing anyone can do about it, since it's just an emulator. You have to provide the ROMS yourself, like any other emulator out there.
Awesome video very informative I definitely enjoyed it can you tell me how to disable free play in teknoparrot it makes me feel like I’m playing the PC version of the game and takes away the arcade experience which is the opposite of why I thought they created this frontend in the first place
Thanks man! Yes, freeplay kills the experience if you want to have the real arcade vibe. I think you can disable it somewhere in game settings, per game, as i can recollect.
in some cases freeplay can be disabled from within the settings tab in TP in other cases can be disabled from with in the ingame setting in order to access ingame setting will have to set a key to the test menu

@@steveclayton3371 very true but lately games been coming out with altered test menus or no test menu at all so you can’t change the coin option it’s important to real arcade lovers because it separates an arcade game from feel I like an pc game so if all games now come stocked as freeplay we mind as well use the apC version with all the new updates and more options

Thanks! You can easily run the program with a dual core PC setup from like, 2010~ish; try an i3 or i5, together with a Geforce 7~ series.

i run most things on a 4th gen i5 a gtx 760 and 16gig ddr3 mem everying i play runs flawlessly ( outrun transformers human alience rambo to name but a few) all from with a home made bartop arcade cab all with either joysticks and buttons a xbox 360 controller or lightgun

TP let me finally play Starwars Battlepod which none of my local arcades had. I even considered buying one as it looked spectacular. Luckily i didnt as it ended up being a 15 min wonder then done.

Yea, never said it was hard. Or easy. Just saying, everyone is on their own in that manner. Not telling how to, just, letting decide everyone for themselves.
It is easy enough to get dumps but you want ones that actually work and have patches but you know where to get them as well if you know where to get the dumps, I don't know of anyone that has all the available games working though, genuinely.
Some games don't work, as you need a Patreon subscription towards the people who release them as far as I know. Specifically for the latest games like Metal Gear Solid Arcade.

No, teknoparrot isnt just a loader it also emulates certain hardware. Think of it how it manages to run linux games on windows and other stuff such as special hardware related to Gaelco franchise.
I said that it emulates specific things.
@@fistbumpbros Not only IO(input & output dycryption . Emulates dongles, libs that enable a game to launch, and mimics original gpu hardware such as optimization and shader corrections in order for it to run correctly without major flaws.

I think Teknoparrot is really shady. I don´t have anything against emulation in general, or even piracy, but the Teknoparrot team is asking you to pay a subscription fee to get access to all games. They are basically a warez cracking group who want to get payed for piggybacking on other peoples work without their concent.
The fanboys will tell you that the Teknoparrot gang is putting in a lot of work and you´re cheap if you don´t pay (or pure evil if you speak out against their shady business practices), and I don´t argue that it´s a lot of work cracking those games, but it´s still not ok to try to make money off of piracy.
Yup. I made a new video about Teknoparrot. But I just cover the software itself. I am fully aware of this Patreon thing on the side they have. I just don't talk about it or promote it in the videos. I have the exact same thoughts about it. I enjoy Teknoparrot as an emulator and treat it as such. All the software i show in the video are own acquired and have been deleted afterwards, as it's just for showing in the video.

Just download the Bootstrapper instead of the executable. With Bootstrapper you pull in the latest version.
In comparison with MAME, Dolphin and RetroArch, Teknoparrot is unstable, not user-friendly and simply buggersome. Feels beta and I don't reccommend it to anyone.
Teknoparrot is used to play newer arcade games. The options you mention are for totally other (retro) systems which have a different usecase. Teknoparrot is indeed not very user friendly and requires you to have some simple IT knowledge.

Okay, now to a "Real" question about this: WHY was a cheap-ass PC game, like "SIN" included in the roster of so many obviously "arcade" games? I mean, this is such a CHEAP selection and low quality with NO real game settings to choose from.
I dunno what this guy is talking about where it asks for money. I know Teknogods wants Patreon but that's on a subscription basis which, while they LIE LIKE HELL, and call it "donations"....it's really a GAME PASS like for X-Box.
