Great point with the stream. when I lived in the foothills on NC and Va. USA a friend showed me how to put in a simple hydro pump in the swift running stream that led into the river at the edge of our land. I was still recovering from combat wounds in Iraq. needed to stay active. used the rocks to channel a wee small step down stream between the rocks. put in the small pump and hose leading uphill to the acre size garden. ran the wire from the pump to the inverter which charged the battery beside the garden. this power pulled the water constantly to use drip irrigation on everything. Veggies GALORE, plus had the earthen cellar converted to act as a root cellar or cool place to store the jars of canned foods. made tomatoes with Italian seasonings. my wife was Italian so...wobderful food year round. then later I added Solar Panels on the roof and a powered by wind turbine for a solar collector that followed the sun's path. in ice storms with no power we switched to batteries that the solar and wind power charged. Didn't cost that much. on clear days we sold excess power back to the electric company.
I genuinely love Alfie's vlogs so much. They are so real. Like he shows how some days things aren't going to be all fun and games and they are going to be busy and filled with meetings. He needs to stop being nervous about them when there isn't as much going on in a day because I love those videos as much as ones where he's only doing fun things. I agree about being in the woods, my family is going on vacation at the end of June to northern Michigan and we do not get internet up there (I can make phone calls and text but just no internet) but it's amazing!
