I think Islam should get the title fight because at the end of the day in terms of being a pro he did his job deal is right Islam took the fights rest of top10 couldn't make it to the cage not his fault I'd say title fight and Islam has made conscious effort to release his own content to promote himself anything less than title fight unacceptable. Islam hasn't fought the top lightweights cause they are avoiding him. Stylistically, he will be the toughest match up for Charles in that division next is Tsarukyan.
Tsarukyan is a monster and nobody in Top 10 will have the guts to face him except for Islam who has already beaten him.

Islam has been asking for a top 10, top 5 opponents for a while. I remember watching him call out Chandler in a post fight interview, with Chandler himself on the panel for his fight then. So like he said in this interview, it's not on him that he hasn't fought anyone in the top 5, because no one stepped up, except for Beneil, who unfortunately got injured just days before their fight. So him not having fought anyone in the top 5 shouldn't be a factor against him to be next in line for the title shot. With the form he's in, by merit he more than deserves to fight Oliveira next in my opinion.

gaethje and dariush are too tight and under the same management. They will not fight unless it's closely linked with the title.
Chandler is talking sh*t about Poirier, and doesn't want to fight Poirier. Nor does Poirier want to fight Chandler. Poirier wants Nate Diaz. Right now, it's Poirier and Chandler both seeking to fight Nate at 170 lbs.

Imo do Gaethje vs either Rafaels (Fiziev or Dos Anjos). I think that’s funner than seeing Gaethje potentially get subbed again. Plus it keeps the division’s top 5 fresh.
Chandler v Conor is a fun match up as well and could end in the 1st round.
I really just like this configuration for the sake of seeing fresher fights amongst the top 5.

Watch Fedor vs Werdum to have a grasp what would be like a jiu jitsu sambo match. For the record, Fedor was a 5-time World Sambo champion while Werdum was only a 1-time bjj champion. They're effectively forced to fight down most of their career and if they're lucky, a ranked BMF (someone like RDA) will step up to fight them. Happened to both Kamaru Usman and Khabib Nurmagomedov respectively, now Islam Makhachev.
