I can't even make it to the review. I keep replaying that opening song! I love my DRV but having an onboard boost is such a great utility. Could be really nice for a mini board.
I just picked up one of those and Mojo Hand Socrates and love em both. The Rous doesn't have the HUGE low end that the Socrates has, but rather its got the low-mid growl that just hits all the right spots for me. Both pedals excel at clarity without the harshness of the original Rat, which is the main reason why I was on a hunt for a Rat with a more useable top-end control. Anyway, yes, LOVE the Rous!
I have been curious of the bass version because of the mix knob. I have the guitar mk II and love it. Just feel like I could add a lot more with a mix knob.
I bought the rattler V1 but I sold it as I didn't love it. It was pretty good at medium to higher gain settings on its own but it introduced a lot of hissing type noise when stacked which prevented me from liking it at lower gain. Even still, it's tonality (and the original RAT) sound like a lofi version of good amp distortion. I genuinely do not understand how people like RATs. I see far more pro players go for 5150s, soldanos, mesas etc if they want a good high gain tone.
I have both. The DRV2 is up for sale as we speak. Personally found it to sound more fizzy at all settings and the new enclosure is approx half the weight of the old one and it felt very much like a downgrade to the consumer to save money on the business end without lowering the retail price unfortunately.
I have JAM's Bass version on my Bass board... I have a 1981 DRV (GE Diode "Back to the Future version") on order and excited to compare them.
Have one in the post at the minute so delighted with the timing and validation 😊

My current rat of choice is the Pettyjohn ROUS. Outstanding pedal

Dang that sounds so good
I have the bass version of the Rattler, but it aounds great on guitar too. The two closely spaced footswitches took some getting used to.

Mark you should review the DRV2!

This is a good Rat variant. I’m also a fan of the Blackmass 1312 and Dead Air Feral+.
I’ve got a 1312 and it’s so rad. Someday I’ll make a video talking about it or my love of Rats in general.
Marks playing reminds me of Bocchi the Rock
I’ll have to google that one. This track feels very “what if Hunter Burgan played in Anberlin”
@ it’s a cool anime about a person learning to play guitar. Your tone and style reminds me of what you hear in it (which is awesome).
