Everyfuckingtime. Leaving Earth sequence and the music with the title intro makes me teary eyed even after 8 playthroughs. I haven't seen such a powerful scene in video games and I don't think not many reach that level. Powerful and Phenomenal sequence
The map is absolutely a huge upgrade, it immediately shows you where everyone is which is super helpful on the Normandy and the Citadel both. There's a ton of side content on the Citadel so recommend coming back regularly and exploring as much as you can. It's still just as important as ever to talk to everyone on the ship, but much easier to keep track of since they'll start repeating lines when you've heard everything. They'll also talk to each other pretty regularly, those conversations are very entertaining as well and really add to the immersion which I loved. Awesome video and a great start to the series, can't wait for more

The opening and the ending are some of the most powerful moments I ever experienced in gaming. Having to leave earth behind really hits home, knowing that every minute wasted could cost the lives of thousands is motivation to move the stars if need be.

The realities of war do hit home in that opening scene. If aliens did exist in real life and invaded the Earth, just imagine the carnage on civilians. The movie Battle: Los Angeles does a great job of portraying this.
Regarding Kaidan, you have to remember that Cerberus is a terrorist organisation that have done and are doing horrible things across the galaxy, some of which you saw, together with Kaidan. I think it's a completely understandable reaction he has, LoL I mean how would you react if someone you thought you knew died and got brought back to life but now they're now in company with a KKK fascist group or The Baader-Meinhof? I actually like the fact that Shepard association with Cerberus is not just glossed over but is explored, particularly with characters like Kaidan that are initially conflicted about it and don't just view Shepard as infallible. It's all good stuff.
Also... I'm replaying the whole trilogy now and I had forgotten stuff that makes it even have more sense. I.E: people always blame Kaidan/Ashley about the Horizon encounter, but Shepard's (and their companions) response only make the situation worse because their reaction is not "yeah, they are assholes but they have the resources we need" but more on the line of "they are not that bad, they are the only ones wanting to do anything about the colonies and you are just being irrational and emotional". Even in ME2 there's evidence that that is not exactly true and that kind of response will only make the situation worse, especially when its someone who has their ideas/morals as sorted and clear as Kaidan does. So, yeah, he could have reacted better (even though he was right), but so did Shepard. And dont get me wrong, I understand Shepard, but so I do Kaidan. Too much text, sorry. I could go on a 20.000 words rant about this but it would include too many spoilers 😂😂😂😂
Imagine if someone in the Marines went awol and joined the Taliban, then went back to the Marines! It's not crazy why Ashley/Kaiden don't fully trust Shep yet.
Not to mention Shepherd died. And I don't mean heart stopped for a few seconds or minutes dead, I'm talking cold dead. It was public knowledge but all of a sudden, they're back and working with terrorists. Hell, even if they weren't working with terrorists how do I REALLY know that you are still you? It's like that Theseus paradox. Is an object that has had all of its components replaced still the same object or is it a completely different object? Is Shepherd in ME3 a wholly different person than they were in ME1 because they died and was rebuilt? Or can we really say they it is the same Shepherd?

I would still trust someone like that even if he/she joined terrorist group, because i understand someone like that may have valid reasons to do what he/she does...
If you read the codex, that quite literally is happening on earth while Shepard is away. Politicians and leaders were indoctrinated and started telling survivors to hand themselves over to the Reapers.
Wonderful start , may need a bigger box of tissues , this game is a rollercoaster for your emotions mixed with brilliant gameplay , so happy your back in the Mass Effect Universe 🤩
Vanguard is so much to play in this game, I'm glad you're sticking with it. Try to use Charge + Nova as much as you can, you'll be totally unstoppable and can clear out a ton of enemies fast. Power combos are definitely the way to go and your squadmates are so helpful too, takes a little getting used to but the combat is super fun!
@@LiteWeightGaming Yes you can! The lighter your weapon loadout, the faster the cooldown is. So don't carry more than one or two weapons, I usually went with a shotgun and a pistol, or later with only a shotgun. You can also add mods to your guns that reduce their weight, and also the cooldown time. You can get it low enough that you can basically spam your powers at will.
@@LiteWeightGaming Things that reduce the cooldown: 1.Weapon mods (things that you have to manually insert into special slots on your gun accessible through weapon selection menu), some of these mods reduce carry weight of the gun, which in turn affect the cooldown rate 2.Weapon upgrade (This is different from weapon mods, everytime you buy another copy fo the same gun you already picked up before it gets "upgraded" to higher tier and it's stats get a slight boost each time, which includes carry weight, which once again affect cooldown rate) 3.Intel upgrades/bonuses (You pick up these things by scanning planets mostly with certain exceptions, such as finding them during certain missions or as a reward for doing side quest...), these intels provide the choice on which of the two upgrades you'd like to invest in shadow broker's intel upgrades terminal in liara's room on the normandy, some of the choice provide raw +5% cooldown rate bonuses, but at the expanse of another upgrade 4.Armor pieces/full suit stats and bonuses, some of which have power cooldown as an option, when choosing which piece of armor or a full suit to equip. 5.Power upgrades through leveling up, most of those direct inform you that they provide power cooldown, in other cases it's more subtle... With all of these in mind you can achieve ridiculous cooldwon rate in this game, which will literally allow you to spam the same power like crazy! Lol
Finally, so excited for this You know very well how much this series means to me, and this game is easily the best of the trilogy. The opening should give you a pretty good idea of the emotional rollercoaster this game is, really shows just what the Reapers are capable of and what it's all about right away. I love the first two games so much, but this one hits way more with how everything comes together that it's been building towards since the beginning. Especially the characters and their relationships are just incredible, they always were but this game really made them feel like a family to me and they always will be. Can't say enough good things, my favorite game of all time and I really hope you'll understand why
I strongly recommend putting points into Nova. My Sunday was made, when I discovered one streamer I gave up on actually didn't betray Samara for Morinth in ME2 and will soon be on to ME3 and more tolerable. And that was followed by my favorite Mass Effect TH-camr finally starting ME3. So glad to have back my purple haired, Vanguard, Champion of Lite!
I'm so excited, I've been waiting for this! This game is packed full of so many emotional highs and lows and I can't wait to see you experience everything. Truly a life-changing experience.
For the dlc content, here are my suggestion with as little spoiler as possible : - I advice to take the mission on Eden Prime as soon as possible, it will unlock content for the rest of the game. - A mission about Omega can be started on the citadel, it can be done whenever in my opinion - A mission in the Citadel start in a Dr.Byson laboratory, it is a heavy lore/spoiler dlc - Finaly "Citadel" DLC can be started by visiting a known character appartment (you will have a mission), the content vary a lot depending on your progression. It is divided in two part, the first one could be done whenever, the latter part will offer more content the more you advance the story so if you want the full experience you can wait until almost the very end. People might add precision I did it a long time ago before the legendary edition, so my info might be outdated.
That seems really good to me, agree on pretty much everything. My recommendation would be to save the entire Citadel DLC until last before the point of no return, just to ensure you get all the content and won't miss anything. That's the best DLC ever made so you'll definitely want the full experience.
Another piece of advice... "Priority" missions are story progression missions. Generally you want to tackle the available side missions before moving on to the "Priority" missions or you can lock yourself out of some progression/story.
Concur. Though I would not start Citadel as soon as it’s available, for reasons I can’t specify yet. But I do agree there’s no need to hold off to the very end to at least start it.
I’m so excited to see you play through this! Fair warning though this game has some very unforgiving points of no return and a lot of them. My best advice is to do all the side quests you want before advancing the main story. Have fun Lite!
So glad to see game 3 in this trilogy starting. I am onboard for the journey. After watching the first 20ish minutes, and seeing the feelings/tears from Lite, I know it will be another fantastic set of of videos. Thank you playing and posting these playthroughs - love the channel and content.
Also, your anger toward Kaidan is justified. Ash, as you may suspect, behaves similarly. It's the role of the survivor of that fateful ME1 choice in the start of ME3. It's frustrating, but you're kind of meant to hate it, and frankly the writers may have even been trying to go for the whole "You're gonna regret being mad at them" vibe.

Too often games never end up showing the grandiose big bad scary deities or gods or very major enemies, whatever you can call em. I remember absolutely loving being part of the reaper invasion in full scale. they made a great job capturing how terrifying it would be and displaying amazing views of the reapers in the background. Truly felt like the culmination of the mass effect story.
Loved the episode, and loved your reaction to the leaving earth sequence. The music really hits like a gut punch as you see the start of your planet's decimation. And regarding your squadmates, I know after ME2 where you had 7 missions just to recruit people and 12 loyalty missions, acquiring squadmates might seem like a lot of work, but in ME3 you don't have to go through all that extra missions. The squad will be a lot smaller than ME2, but I'm sure you'll love most of them. Can't wait to see more of your playthrough!

Just in case no one else gave you this info. Weapons effect the weight you carry, the higher the weight the slower your powers recharge. Regarding your powers being red (Shockwave specifically), it looks like you figured it out but I will mention it. Range and Shields turn the power red, meaning it will be ineffective, but still usable. As an extra, I'm not a shotgun user; however, I recommend the Venom shotgun. It's a fairly early find. Again, thank you for hoping back into the Mass Effect Universe. Oh and the pull power will remove their big physical shields if you don't want to deal with mail slot shots.
Ashley is a better option to have in my opinion due to her humanity first stance at the begining slowly changing or solidifing based on what path you choose (although she plays a similar role in me2 and me3) and as far as im aware canonically she is the one who has been saved on Vermire.
I feel like Kaiden and Jacob are 2 squadmates where if they were cut out of the games nothing would be lost. Compared to Garrus, Wrex, Grunt, Miranda, Liara and the like they're boring.
ME3 will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first game in the trilogy I got to anticipate the release for. My intro into the series was with my college roommate who couldn’t drive the Mako and made me do it, then we played ME2 together and ME3 (when we’d separated because they went to a different school) kept us friends beyond being roommates. So a lot of that is tied into my feels. Can’t wait to watch your playthrough and I might have to go call my old roommate and have a lot of feels together.
I'm so excited for this playthrough Lite! The plot of ME3 is actually very similar to the plot of the 3rd ACOTAR book. It is basically a series of incredibly well written stories and vignettes that will alternate between warming and breaking your heart. No spoilers but as others have said I recommend doing the Citadel DLC last of all before the point of no return. Enjoy!
Great to see you back. You're in for a wild ride. Be careful with your weapons loadout, weight plays a big role in this game. The more weapons you carry, (the weight bar gets red) the slower your powers will recharge. As a Vanguard, it's good to keep it in mind. Don't feel bad about Kaidan. About time someone straightened out his head.
The beginning of another epic LWG playthrough! This game will drag your emotions down to lows and will also take them up high with some feel good moments! This will be a wild roller coaster ride and nobody does that better than LWG!
Hi Liteweight, something this game never really tells you about is power combos! Whenever there's a blue glow from biotics hit it with warp (pull then warp) - great sound effect too! If they're on fire or frozen, overload them for big bang.
Heyhey, great to see you start ME3! Leave it to Mass Effect to hit you in the guts with an intro, great way to set the stakes and get right into the thick of it. The codex has a lot of old stuff, but there's also a few things concerning new stuff, like the bit about the Cannibals that you read. In the secondary codex there are entries on The Reaper War that I think you'll find interesting to read. Anyways, looking forward to the next episode, enjoy! 😊

Been looking forward to the return of Mass Effect! I wish I could forget everything I remember about this game and play it for the first time again. I played it in 2012 when it came out, I was around 19 back then and got really invested in the story.
Yes, they definitely would. Reapers do not care if you're a man, woman or a child, they will kill everyone and anyone, and Bioware made the decision to show such a horrible thing for a few reasons: -it sets the desperate, chaotic theme for the game -It shows the reapers have no mercy for anyone -It stokes hate and anger, as well as resolve into the main character -It shows the player anyone can die this game.
If you’re planning to use your biotic powers often, keep in mind that the weight of the weapons you carry affects the recharge speed of your powers. Sniper Rifles, Assault Rifles and Shotguns weigh the most. You had a sniper rifle, assault rifle and a shotgun during the Mars mission, which is why it took so long for your powers to charge. Since you’re a vanguard, I’d recommend a shotgun or an assault rifle (not both, one or the other) and either a pistol or a submachine. There are also mods you can get to decrease the weapon weight. And you can get bonuses and wear pieces of armor that reduce power recharge speed.
I would have recommended the engineer class, personally. You can set up turrets and attack drones that can deal with enemies for you, set up perimeter defenses and get some pretty good tech moves.

Hells to the yea!!!! It is finally here!!! Super excited to see you finish up the ME trilogy! It's the end of the galaxy and it won't go down without a fight be ready for the feels, literally might want a box of tissues by your gaming station. JIC FYI, after EVERY story mission go to the citadel. There are side stories that you can follow by standing close to various Citadel residents and listen to their stories as the game progresses, same with your crew members. I know for a fact that there is a story arc that you would enjoy following/listening to in the hospital (an Asari is being talked to for therapy and her story hits close to home...)
May be insignificant but I LOVE how you mention Newt from Aliens! That infamous "sewer shot" is my favorite moment in any movie ever! I've always related that scene with the silhouette scene from conversations with Jack in ME2.
Yes! Finally, Liteweight Gaming has come back to Mass Effect! A couple of tips: Biotic and tech combos really were amped up for this game so use them to your full advantage. For example, you could use Pull and then Charge into that enemy for a biotic explosion. Or use Liara's Singularity and Charge into it. Or Warp followed by Throw. Incinerate, then Overload will cause a Tech explosion. Some Biotic and Tech powers overlap for explosions as well. Experiment and have fun with those. 😉
Might be a bit early to mention this, but as you didn’t ’properly’ enter a relationship with Thane in Mass Effect 2, I believe the game will assume you are single, since you also broke up with Liara previously. Anyway! Looking forward to more Mass Effect adventures, ME3 is definitely my favorite in the trilogy.
Her Teagan, one thing you'll find interesting about Mass Effect 3 is that Sheppard is now able to use all classes of weapons, regardless of what Shepard's specialized in, unlike in Mass Effect 2

Weight Reduces Power Recharge speed so the heavier you are the longer between using Biotics. I suggest as a biotic only take 2 weapons with you. I usaly take a pistol and a SMG. That usaly keeps my biotic recharge at 200% faster.
Woohoo! Finally! Edit: OMG! I was on pins and needles during class selection...like "please pick Vanguard, please pick Vanguard". This may not make sense yet, but I highly recommend the Biotic Charge + Nova combat loop. Biotic Charge refills your shields (get the rank 6 100% shields option when it comes time) and then Nova consumes shields, getting the the Half Blast option at rank 5 so as not to consume all your shields. Use weapons loadouts such that you're close to (or at) 200% on power recharge. Assault Mastery rank 5 has an option for increase weight capacity, that will help; it's such an elegant combination, feeding your shield to Nova and then refilling it with Charge. In this way, you will be virtually unstoppable. Biotic Charge, half-Nova, Biotic Charge, half-Nova, etc. You could even go Biotic Charge, half-Nova, half-Nova, Biotic Charge, half-Nova, half-Nova, etc. There are certain enemies for which this is dangerous. Doing only one half-Nova saves you some shields in case you decide to fire your weapon or other things.
Welcome back to the fight, Lite!😊 Great to be here again. Weapons now have a weight value. Carry more weapons or heavier ones and your biotic/tech powers take longer to recharge. Lighten the load (or apply a weapon mod you find later) and they recharge more quickly again. One other little quality of life tip for later when you're travelling between planetary systems and short of fuel... Bear in mind that your ship will be automatically refuelled to the max for free every time you dock at the Citadel. So if you're canny about it, you never need to actually buy fuel throughout the game. Just dock at the Citadel and take off again if need be. The game doesn't tell you about this - if you don't notice it's happening, you may never realise. And keep those tissues handy...you will need them.🤗
I hope you enjoy the epic Mass Effect 3. I really enjoyed replaying it the last 2 times I played it even though Insanity difficulty did almost break me.
Vanguards are so fun. You can throw out a Pull to prime an explosion, charge the target, and either use Nova or shotguns to the face to finish them off. Later in the game you can more or less chain Charges. It's so incredibly satisfying!
Kaidan in ME2, can't even get a couple of big guns working on Horizon yet is promoted to Major. Shepard in ME2, saves countless colonies and delays the Reaper invasion giving the Alliance more time to prepare (like finding the Prothean device in the Mars archives).
Also another hint without any spoilers :). This game has the main missions (Priority Missions) and side missions. You should do all other missions before the Priority missions on each planet, otherwise the side missions will be lost and some of them are important in their own right.
Another thing I’d like to mention which I forgot to add in my original comment is that I recall you saying you wished they had kept the ”ammo” system of the first game in your ME2 playthrough. Well there is a rifle with infinite ammo, but you can’t get it until the Citadel DLC, and that’s still very far away.
In case no one else has mentioned it, the weight of your weapons affects your cooldown. The more weapons, and the heavier they are, can make your cool down can make your cooldown as bad as -200%. You can choose what combination of weapons to use balancing weight vs. cooldown. As with ME2, quick fire like sub machine guns and assault rifles are good for shields and barriers. Skiw, like pistols are better against shields. I also suggest that you don't go crazy buying upgraded versions of the early game weapons. Wait for better drops. I think that's it! I actually didnt realize this was from today. I just finished watching your ME 2 run and sweating the choices for the suicide mission. People tend to stick to OG's, but you really need to think about whose abilities work on which enemies.
Interesting little gender difference at around 18:24 When MaleShep starts to fall Anderson puts his arm on his upper torso and pushes him back so he can steady himself. He grabs FemShep by the back. Guess Anderson didn’t want to get fresh with his surrogate daughter.
Somehow I missed your ME2 plays, great to see you tackle the opening of 3. It is a pretty emotional opening and I think we all felt that Kaiden(/Ashley) moment of frustration ... but from their point of veiw hard to blame them. If you're loving some of the gameplay upgrades here, I would he interested to see how you react to the improvements made in Andromeda As for the power cooldown frustrarion, for the baxk half of this session, you were running your powers at -165% cooldown speed. I think it's been addressed already, but when on the weapon swap screen the left hand side has a Weight bar, with a Power Cooldown %. If you're going to be wanting access to your powers regularly, leave almost all the weapon slots empty and just take your favourite 1 or 2. You can also do weapon mods from the workbench on the Normandy
There is a sort-of "mission order" to ME3. Basically, you'll want to do all side missions and scanning before doing "Priority" missions because you'll miss out on a lot. ME3, when Vanguard becomes VanGod The soundtrack "Leaving Earth" is such a powerful bit of music.
They made adjustments to how the different classes behave in Mass Effect 3. The shockwave move now has a shorter range because they quite literally made your class the one that loves to get close and personal with enemies. 😂 If you prefer longer range, you could've went with a longer range class. Now, whenever you pick up weapon upgrades in the field or buy them in shops, pay attention to which weapon type they can be applied to. You only had weapon mods for SMG's. So that's why the option wasn't popping up for you at the work bench, for the other weapons. Also, take a look at the power recharge stat on the weapon selection screen. The benefit of Mass Effect 3 is that you can use whichever weapon type you like, similar to Mass Effect 1. The downside is that the more "weight" you put on in weapons, the slower your abilities will recharge. This can be somewhat mitigated when you find weapon mods that can lighten your weapons. Also, when you're moving from cover to cover, it's about how the camera is angled. Done properly, Shepard should automatically move from cover to cover, without "breaking cover". What the game was trying to tell you is when you see a chance to just take a corner while in cover, you tap the left stick. You'll know you got it when Shepard does it smoothly. Lastly, the mail slot achievement is a chuckle-worthy one. There are Cerberus troops who carry a big shield, called Cerberus Guardians. Their shields have a small slot where their eyes are. If you're good or accidental with your aim, you can hit them right in that small hit-box. I'm currently playing Mass Effect 3, same place as you, and since I love to use the sniper rifle, it's been kind of a game to me to see if I can take them out in one shot through that "mail slot". Let's fight the Reapers together!
I see I'm not the only one who cried like a baby in that cutscene. At least you kept Kaidan alive. Big ups! He is one of my top 3 fav characters (and a husband!) To be honest with you though, I wasn't annoyed with him at all. I understand his distrust - we were gone for 2 years, show up out of nowhere with Cerberus in tow. Horizon scene was sad, but I personally understood where he was coming from. Besides, it was staged by the Illusive Man who got into his head, and re-affirmed out twisted image when we appeared on Horizon. Who knows exactly what ideas he had planted in Kaidan's mind about Shepard. At least Kaidan owns up to his mistakes down the line and shows maturity of his character.

The opening and the ending are some of the most powerful moments I ever experienced in gaming. Having to leave earth behind really hits home, knowing that every minute wasted could cost the lives of thousands is motivation to move the stars if need be.

The realities of war do hit home in that opening scene. If aliens did exist in real life and invaded the Earth, just imagine the carnage on civilians. The movie Battle: Los Angeles does a great job of portraying this.

Regarding Kaidan, you have to remember that Cerberus is a terrorist organisation that have done and are doing horrible things across the galaxy, some of which you saw, together with Kaidan. I think it's a completely understandable reaction he has, LoL I mean how would you react if someone you thought you knew died and got brought back to life but now they're now in company with a KKK fascist group or The Baader-Meinhof? I actually like the fact that Shepard association with Cerberus is not just glossed over but is explored, particularly with characters like Kaidan that are initially conflicted about it and don't just view Shepard as infallible. It's all good stuff.
He’s a lot nicer than I would be in that situation.
Also... I'm replaying the whole trilogy now and I had forgotten stuff that makes it even have more sense. I.E: people always blame Kaidan/Ashley about the Horizon encounter, but Shepard's (and their companions) response only make the situation worse because their reaction is not "yeah, they are assholes but they have the resources we need" but more on the line of "they are not that bad, they are the only ones wanting to do anything about the colonies and you are just being irrational and emotional". Even in ME2 there's evidence that that is not exactly true and that kind of response will only make the situation worse, especially when its someone who has their ideas/morals as sorted and clear as Kaidan does. So, yeah, he could have reacted better (even though he was right), but so did Shepard.
And dont get me wrong, I understand Shepard, but so I do Kaidan.

Imagine if someone in the Marines went awol and joined the Taliban, then went back to the Marines! It's not crazy why Ashley/Kaiden don't fully trust Shep yet.
Not to mention Shepherd died. And I don't mean heart stopped for a few seconds or minutes dead, I'm talking cold dead. It was public knowledge but all of a sudden, they're back and working with terrorists. Hell, even if they weren't working with terrorists how do I REALLY know that you are still you? It's like that Theseus paradox. Is an object that has had all of its components replaced still the same object or is it a completely different object? Is Shepherd in ME3 a wholly different person than they were in ME1 because they died and was rebuilt? Or can we really say they it is the same Shepherd?
@@Kaplunco Don't you think someone like Shepard with his/her track record deserves benefit of the doubt considering he/she is the saviour of the citadel, erradicator of the collectors amongst other things that dates all the way back beyond even the events of the first ME game?! I would still trust someone like that even if he/she joined terrorist group, because i understand someone like that may have valid reasons to do what he/she does...
Even with the war going on I wouldn't put it past the Council to do their usual "You're crazy Shepard. The Reapers don't exist" thing.

If you read the codex, that quite literally is happening on earth while Shepard is away. Politicians and leaders were indoctrinated and started telling survivors to hand themselves over to the Reapers.
Wonderful start , may need a bigger box of tissues , this game is a rollercoaster for your emotions mixed with brilliant gameplay , so happy your back in the Mass Effect Universe 🤩
Vanguard is so much to play in this game, I'm glad you're sticking with it. Try to use Charge + Nova as much as you can, you'll be totally unstoppable and can clear out a ton of enemies fast.
Power combos are definitely the way to go and your squadmates are so helpful too, takes a little getting used to but the combat is super fun!
Can I do anything about the cooldown though? I feel like it takes forever to use my abilities again!
@@LiteWeightGaming Yes you can! The lighter your weapon loadout, the faster the cooldown is. So don't carry more than one or two weapons, I usually went with a shotgun and a pistol, or later with only a shotgun. You can also add mods to your guns that reduce their weight, and also the cooldown time. You can get it low enough that you can basically spam your powers at will.

1.Weapon mods (things that you have to manually insert into special slots on your gun accessible through weapon selection menu), some of these mods reduce carry weight of the gun, which in turn affect the cooldown rate
2.Weapon upgrade (This is different from weapon mods, everytime you buy another copy fo the same gun you already picked up before it gets "upgraded" to higher tier and it's stats get a slight boost each time, which includes carry weight, which once again affect cooldown rate)
3.Intel upgrades/bonuses (You pick up these things by scanning planets mostly with certain exceptions, such as finding them during certain missions or as a reward for doing side quest...), these intels provide the choice on which of the two upgrades you'd like to invest in shadow broker's intel upgrades terminal in liara's room on the normandy, some of the choice provide raw +5% cooldown rate bonuses, but at the expanse of another upgrade
4.Armor pieces/full suit stats and bonuses, some of which have power cooldown as an option, when choosing which piece of armor or a full suit to equip.
5.Power upgrades through leveling up, most of those direct inform you that they provide power cooldown, in other cases it's more subtle...
With all of these in mind you can achieve ridiculous cooldwon rate in this game, which will literally allow you to spam the same power like crazy! Lol
Finally, so excited for this You know very well how much this series means to me, and this game is easily the best of the trilogy.
The opening should give you a pretty good idea of the emotional rollercoaster this game is, really shows just what the Reapers are capable of and what it's all about right away.
I love the first two games so much, but this one hits way more with how everything comes together that it's been building towards since the beginning. Especially the characters and their relationships are just incredible, they always were but this game really made them feel like a family to me and they always will be. Can't say enough good things, my favorite game of all time and I really hope you'll understand why

I strongly recommend putting points into Nova. My Sunday was made, when I discovered one streamer I gave up on actually didn't betray Samara for Morinth in ME2 and will soon be on to ME3 and more tolerable. And that was followed by my favorite Mass Effect TH-camr finally starting ME3. So glad to have back my purple haired, Vanguard, Champion of Lite!
I'm so excited, I've been waiting for this! This game is packed full of so many emotional highs and lows and I can't wait to see you experience everything. Truly a life-changing experience.

For the dlc content, here are my suggestion with as little spoiler as possible :
- I advice to take the mission on Eden Prime as soon as possible, it will unlock content for the rest of the game.
- A mission about Omega can be started on the citadel, it can be done whenever in my opinion
- A mission in the Citadel start in a Dr.Byson laboratory, it is a heavy lore/spoiler dlc
- Finaly "Citadel" DLC can be started by visiting a known character appartment (you will have a mission), the content vary a lot depending on your progression. It is divided in two part, the first one could be done whenever, the latter part will offer more content the more you advance the story so if you want the full experience you can wait until almost the very end. People might add precision I did it a long time ago before the legendary edition, so my info might be outdated.
That seems really good to me, agree on pretty much everything. My recommendation would be to save the entire Citadel DLC until last before the point of no return, just to ensure you get all the content and won't miss anything. That's the best DLC ever made so you'll definitely want the full experience.
Another piece of advice... "Priority" missions are story progression missions. Generally you want to tackle the available side missions before moving on to the "Priority" missions or you can lock yourself out of some progression/story.
Concur. Though I would not start Citadel as soon as it’s available, for reasons I can’t specify yet. But I do agree there’s no need to hold off to the very end to at least start it.
This is great advice, wish I could give it more than one like. The Omega mission can be a bit hard right in the beginning, though.

I’m so excited to see you play through this! Fair warning though this game has some very unforgiving points of no return and a lot of them. My best advice is to do all the side quests you want before advancing the main story. Have fun Lite!

Also, your anger toward Kaidan is justified. Ash, as you may suspect, behaves similarly. It's the role of the survivor of that fateful ME1 choice in the start of ME3. It's frustrating, but you're kind of meant to hate it, and frankly the writers may have even been trying to go for the whole "You're gonna regret being mad at them" vibe.

Too often games never end up showing the grandiose big bad scary deities or gods or very major enemies, whatever you can call em. I remember absolutely loving being part of the reaper invasion in full scale. they made a great job capturing how terrifying it would be and displaying amazing views of the reapers in the background. Truly felt like the culmination of the mass effect story.
I agree completely. I haven't really seen anything quite like it since this game.
Loved the episode, and loved your reaction to the leaving earth sequence. The music really hits like a gut punch as you see the start of your planet's decimation. And regarding your squadmates, I know after ME2 where you had 7 missions just to recruit people and 12 loyalty missions, acquiring squadmates might seem like a lot of work, but in ME3 you don't have to go through all that extra missions. The squad will be a lot smaller than ME2, but I'm sure you'll love most of them. Can't wait to see more of your playthrough!

Just in case no one else gave you this info. Weapons effect the weight you carry, the higher the weight the slower your powers recharge.
Regarding your powers being red (Shockwave specifically), it looks like you figured it out but I will mention it. Range and Shields turn the power red, meaning it will be ineffective, but still usable.
As an extra, I'm not a shotgun user; however, I recommend the Venom shotgun. It's a fairly early find. Again, thank you for hoping back into the Mass Effect Universe. Oh and the pull power will remove their big physical shields if you don't want to deal with mail slot shots.
I finished this game about 7 times and the Leaving Earth scene ( 28:00 ) always fills me with sorrow and rage.

Ashley is a better option to have in my opinion due to her humanity first stance at the begining slowly changing or solidifing based on what path you choose (although she plays a similar role in me2 and me3) and as far as im aware canonically she is the one who has been saved on Vermire.
I guess she just didn’t seem like she’d be as useful in combat! But I may have miss judged that!
I feel like Kaiden and Jacob are 2 squadmates where if they were cut out of the games nothing would be lost. Compared to Garrus, Wrex, Grunt, Miranda, Liara and the like they're boring.
ME3 will always have a special place in my heart because it was the first game in the trilogy I got to anticipate the release for. My intro into the series was with my college roommate who couldn’t drive the Mako and made me do it, then we played ME2 together and ME3 (when we’d separated because they went to a different school) kept us friends beyond being roommates. So a lot of that is tied into my feels. Can’t wait to watch your playthrough and I might have to go call my old roommate and have a lot of feels together.
I'm so excited for this playthrough Lite! The plot of ME3 is actually very similar to the plot of the 3rd ACOTAR book. It is basically a series of incredibly well written stories and vignettes that will alternate between warming and breaking your heart. No spoilers but as others have said I recommend doing the Citadel DLC last of all before the point of no return. Enjoy!

Be careful with your weapons loadout, weight plays a big role in this game. The more weapons you carry, (the weight bar gets red) the slower your powers will recharge. As a Vanguard, it's good to keep it in mind.

The beginning of another epic LWG playthrough! This game will drag your emotions down to lows and will also take them up high with some feel good moments! This will be a wild roller coaster ride and nobody does that better than LWG!

Whenever there's a blue glow from biotics hit it with warp (pull then warp) - great sound effect too!
If they're on fire or frozen, overload them for big bang.

Leave it to Mass Effect to hit you in the guts with an intro, great way to set the stakes and get right into the thick of it. The codex has a lot of old stuff, but there's also a few things concerning new stuff, like the bit about the Cannibals that you read. In the secondary codex there are entries on The Reaper War that I think you'll find interesting to read.

Been looking forward to the return of Mass Effect! I wish I could forget everything I remember about this game and play it for the first time again. I played it in 2012 when it came out, I was around 19 back then and got really invested in the story.

Reapers do not care if you're a man, woman or a child, they will kill everyone and anyone, and Bioware made the decision to show such a horrible thing for a few reasons:
-it sets the desperate, chaotic theme for the game
-It shows the reapers have no mercy for anyone
-It stokes hate and anger, as well as resolve into the main character
-It shows the player anyone can die this game.

If you’re planning to use your biotic powers often, keep in mind that the weight of the weapons you carry affects the recharge speed of your powers. Sniper Rifles, Assault Rifles and Shotguns weigh the most. You had a sniper rifle, assault rifle and a shotgun during the Mars mission, which is why it took so long for your powers to charge.
Since you’re a vanguard, I’d recommend a shotgun or an assault rifle (not both, one or the other) and either a pistol or a submachine.
There are also mods you can get to decrease the weapon weight. And you can get bonuses and wear pieces of armor that reduce power recharge speed.
I would have recommended the engineer class, personally. You can set up turrets and attack drones that can deal with enemies for you, set up perimeter defenses and get some pretty good tech moves.
Absolutely fantastic to see you play this teegan. Mass effect as always been one of my all time favourites. And that opening sequence hits quite hard. Phenomenal gameplay. Stay amazing

FYI, after EVERY story mission go to the citadel. There are side stories that you can follow by standing close to various Citadel residents and listen to their stories as the game progresses, same with your crew members. I know for a fact that there is a story arc that you would enjoy following/listening to in the hospital (an Asari is being talked to for therapy and her story hits close to home...)

May be insignificant but I LOVE how you mention Newt from Aliens! That infamous "sewer shot" is my favorite moment in any movie ever! I've always related that scene with the silhouette scene from conversations with Jack in ME2.
Yes! Finally, Liteweight Gaming has come back to Mass Effect! A couple of tips: Biotic and tech combos really were amped up for this game so use them to your full advantage. For example, you could use Pull and then Charge into that enemy for a biotic explosion. Or use Liara's Singularity and Charge into it. Or Warp followed by Throw. Incinerate, then Overload will cause a Tech explosion. Some Biotic and Tech powers overlap for explosions as well. Experiment and have fun with those. 😉
Might be a bit early to mention this, but as you didn’t ’properly’ enter a relationship with Thane in Mass Effect 2, I believe the game will assume you are single, since you also broke up with Liara previously.
Anyway! Looking forward to more Mass Effect adventures, ME3 is definitely my favorite in the trilogy.

Her Teagan, one thing you'll find interesting about Mass Effect 3 is that Sheppard is now able to use all classes of weapons, regardless of what Shepard's specialized in, unlike in Mass Effect 2

Weight Reduces Power Recharge speed so the heavier you are the longer between using Biotics. I suggest as a biotic only take 2 weapons with you. I usaly take a pistol and a SMG. That usaly keeps my biotic recharge at 200% faster.

Edit: OMG! I was on pins and needles during class selection...like "please pick Vanguard, please pick Vanguard".
This may not make sense yet, but I highly recommend the Biotic Charge + Nova combat loop. Biotic Charge refills your shields (get the rank 6 100% shields option when it comes time) and then Nova consumes shields, getting the the Half Blast option at rank 5 so as not to consume all your shields. Use weapons loadouts such that you're close to (or at) 200% on power recharge. Assault Mastery rank 5 has an option for increase weight capacity, that will help; it's such an elegant combination, feeding your shield to Nova and then refilling it with Charge.
In this way, you will be virtually unstoppable. Biotic Charge, half-Nova, Biotic Charge, half-Nova, etc. You could even go Biotic Charge, half-Nova, half-Nova, Biotic Charge, half-Nova, half-Nova, etc. There are certain enemies for which this is dangerous. Doing only one half-Nova saves you some shields in case you decide to fire your weapon or other things.

Weapons now have a weight value. Carry more weapons or heavier ones and your biotic/tech powers take longer to recharge. Lighten the load (or apply a weapon mod you find later) and they recharge more quickly again.
One other little quality of life tip for later when you're travelling between planetary systems and short of fuel...
Bear in mind that your ship will be automatically refuelled to the max for free every time you dock at the Citadel. So if you're canny about it, you never need to actually buy fuel throughout the game. Just dock at the Citadel and take off again if need be. The game doesn't tell you about this - if you don't notice it's happening, you may never realise.
And keep those tissues handy...you will need them.🤗

The differences in me1 and me3 gameplay is crazy.
This is a huge upgrade!
Vanguards are so fun. You can throw out a Pull to prime an explosion, charge the target, and either use Nova or shotguns to the face to finish them off. Later in the game you can more or less chain Charges. It's so incredibly satisfying!

Kaidan in ME2, can't even get a couple of big guns working on Horizon yet is promoted to Major. Shepard in ME2, saves countless colonies and delays the Reaper invasion giving the Alliance more time to prepare (like finding the Prothean device in the Mars archives).
Also another hint without any spoilers :). This game has the main missions (Priority Missions) and side missions. You should do all other missions before the Priority missions on each planet, otherwise the side missions will be lost and some of them are important in their own right.
Another thing I’d like to mention which I forgot to add in my original comment is that I recall you saying you wished they had kept the ”ammo” system of the first game in your ME2 playthrough. Well there is a rifle with infinite ammo, but you can’t get it until the Citadel DLC, and that’s still very far away.
In case no one else has mentioned it, the weight of your weapons affects your cooldown. The more weapons, and the heavier they are, can make your cool down can make your cooldown as bad as -200%. You can choose what combination of weapons to use balancing weight vs. cooldown. As with ME2, quick fire like sub machine guns and assault rifles are good for shields and barriers. Skiw, like pistols are better against shields. I also suggest that you don't go crazy buying upgraded versions of the early game weapons. Wait for better drops. I think that's it! I actually didnt realize this was from today. I just finished watching your ME 2 run and sweating the choices for the suicide mission. People tend to stick to OG's, but you really need to think about whose abilities work on which enemies.

Somehow I missed your ME2 plays, great to see you tackle the opening of 3. It is a pretty emotional opening and I think we all felt that Kaiden(/Ashley) moment of frustration ... but from their point of veiw hard to blame them.
If you're loving some of the gameplay upgrades here, I would he interested to see how you react to the improvements made in Andromeda
As for the power cooldown frustrarion, for the baxk half of this session, you were running your powers at -165% cooldown speed.
I think it's been addressed already, but when on the weapon swap screen the left hand side has a Weight bar, with a Power Cooldown %. If you're going to be wanting access to your powers regularly, leave almost all the weapon slots empty and just take your favourite 1 or 2. You can also do weapon mods from the workbench on the Normandy
There is a sort-of "mission order" to ME3. Basically, you'll want to do all side missions and scanning before doing "Priority" missions because you'll miss out on a lot.

They made adjustments to how the different classes behave in Mass Effect 3. The shockwave move now has a shorter range because they quite literally made your class the one that loves to get close and personal with enemies. 😂 If you prefer longer range, you could've went with a longer range class. Now, whenever you pick up weapon upgrades in the field or buy them in shops, pay attention to which weapon type they can be applied to. You only had weapon mods for SMG's. So that's why the option wasn't popping up for you at the work bench, for the other weapons. Also, take a look at the power recharge stat on the weapon selection screen. The benefit of Mass Effect 3 is that you can use whichever weapon type you like, similar to Mass Effect 1. The downside is that the more "weight" you put on in weapons, the slower your abilities will recharge. This can be somewhat mitigated when you find weapon mods that can lighten your weapons. Also, when you're moving from cover to cover, it's about how the camera is angled. Done properly, Shepard should automatically move from cover to cover, without "breaking cover". What the game was trying to tell you is when you see a chance to just take a corner while in cover, you tap the left stick. You'll know you got it when Shepard does it smoothly. Lastly, the mail slot achievement is a chuckle-worthy one. There are Cerberus troops who carry a big shield, called Cerberus Guardians. Their shields have a small slot where their eyes are. If you're good or accidental with your aim, you can hit them right in that small hit-box. I'm currently playing Mass Effect 3, same place as you, and since I love to use the sniper rifle, it's been kind of a game to me to see if I can take them out in one shot through that "mail slot". Let's fight the Reapers together!

I see I'm not the only one who cried like a baby in that cutscene. At least you kept Kaidan alive. Big ups! He is one of my top 3 fav characters (and a husband!)
To be honest with you though, I wasn't annoyed with him at all. I understand his distrust - we were gone for 2 years, show up out of nowhere with Cerberus in tow. Horizon scene was sad, but I personally understood where he was coming from. Besides, it was staged by the Illusive Man who got into his head, and re-affirmed out twisted image when we appeared on Horizon. Who knows exactly what ideas he had planted in Kaidan's mind about Shepard. At least Kaidan owns up to his mistakes down the line and shows maturity of his character.
