Wrong info to viewers la...as the engine wear, the gap btw the cam lobe and the valve seat will get bigger and thus causing ticking noise. And the bigger gap will cause a slight delay in the opening of the valve so your engine might not be running at its optimum... the only time you valve will hit the piston is when your valve spring breaks therefore not closing the valve fast enough before the piston goes up, or the conrod bearing fails...etc.. if your valve clearance gap is too small, the valve might stay slightly open when engine is hot as metal expands which will cause the engine to loose compression and power...
Hi bro, I guess your mechanic is explaining the wrong thing here. Valve clearance is the gap of the rocker arm and the tip of the valve stem. It’s not the gap of the piston and the valve seat. Please correct him.
I also neglect my Motorbike thinking it can last but my bike broke down at teban during midnight while doing foodpanda.Valve clearance is actually important but most riders not aware of it.Servicing is included about valve clearance.Engine oil and spark plug and pump tyre & tighten chain are the only things I say to mechanic but when bike break down only most of us will learn the technical issues of bike
Ehh salah tu... bila valve clearance sudah lari, kelegaan di antara cam lobe (shim & bucket valvetrain) atau rocker arm (tappet valvetrain) dengan batang valve akan berkurangan. Bermakna, valve yg sepatutnya duduk ngam-ngam dlm valve seat will start to slap the valve seat and cause it to start wearing out. This slapping action yg bunyi tik-tik-tik-tik-tik tu. Jika dibiarkan, valve seat akan mula haus & perlu di grind semula (top overhaul). Bab valve hentam piston tu lazimnya masalah valve timing lari disebabkan timing belt atau chain kendur... atau putus sama sekali. Tappet-based valvetrain perlu pelarasan lebih kerap, terutama sekali pada enjin yg selalu di rev tinggi. Kerja pelarasan valve clearance juga lebih rumit untuk enjin yg banyak valve spt enjin 4 silinder terutama sekali enjin yg valvetrain dia rumit spt sistem desmodromic Ducati. Lebih rumit lebih mahal.
@@tambakoverlanders Mekanik? Xdelah. Saya cuma penunggang marhaen yang menunggang lebih 20 tahun. Along the way, you tend to learn a thing or two lah... itu je. Tak famous pun. Bab penyelenggaraan valve ni, zaman 90-an dulu orang tak suka buat sebab kedekut taik hidung masin & belum celik bab penyelenggaraan. Tunggu enjin bunyi berdecing baru nak tergadah. Waktu tu ZXR250 baru keluar, ramai yg kantul sebab saiz valve kecil serupa syiling 10 sen & RPM tinggi menyerlahkan padah bila pelarasan valve diabaikan. Asyik top overhaul je lah akibatnya sbb cuping valve patah (from excessive slapping on the valve seat) & valve seat sudah makan teruk. Rata-rata Kawasaki dipersalahkan, konon material cikai... padahal kalau redline 18000 RPM (and absolutely gutless no power at the bottom end) tu kena sendiri ingatlah valvetrain ciput tu punya gila buat kerja.
