Thank you so much for explaining the part about the fast idle cam screw and how it works. A lot of other peoples videos talk about adjustment, but they don't explain what's actually happening and why.

I am also in Jacksonville, Fl... on the southside. I have a 73 Corvette, when they rebuilt the original engine , they altered the carburetor , I put the stock carburetor back on, but not sure what they did , I want to put it back stock. E

    I own a 84 f-150 with a four barrel Holley 4180c carb with electric choke .
The electric choke is getting power to it .
I set my choke up perfect for a cold start . But once the engine warms up , I can't kick the fast idle off the last step of the fast idle cam . I have backed off the fast idle screw so it just barely catches on the cam steps & without trying to turn the fast idle down too much .
Anyways , the only way to kick off the fast idle off the last cam step is by pressing it down by hand & by turning the thermostat housing clockwise to fully open up the choke plate so the fast idle comes off .
All is good until the next cold start & the choke plate is now open too much ...so wondering if it could be a worn out thermostat choke spring or something else ?

The red cam plastic piece on my 670 holley keeps getting stucked on top part of the housing behind the choke

How did you route your vacuum lines? I’ve got the same carb on my new engine and I’m having a hell of a time finding all the vacuum I need for trans, PCV, brake booster, headlights, EVAP, etc...

Sorry for the delay- vacuum comes off a T in the rear of the intake manifold which goes to brake booster, trans module, and rear carb goes to pcv. You will need a adapter fitting to go from 1/4” Hose to the brake booster 3/8 or 3/4” depending on its size.

Sir, I bought from Hot Rod Company Washington State last year. I spent 10 thousand and was on their special list I.e. paid more to get it done more priority set by my spending more..
Long story short, I’d pull a valve cover Sir, they just “grind away material” from those heads to make the valve pushrods clear.. yeah, they grind away material and do not perform a “valve geometry” properly…
“You will see evidence given uneven wear Sir, I’m correcting mine myself as I’d never deal with them again!” I’d look under those valve covers, roller tips will show much “uneven” wear… time bomb up top…

I drive between beaches and base a lot. Commonly around town center and to world golf village. Now I’ll be in a tan (buck skin) 76!

@@hungry875boat6 this happens to me once in a while if it happens i just pop the hood an tab the choke lever with my finger and it pops out instantly. Its rare now since the carb was rebuilt.
