They seem to primarily public address speakers meant to be installed in offices. The presence of transformers at the speaker case indicated they were normally operated on a 25 volt or 70 volt transmission line which allows very long runs of wire between speakers. They would have been used for music and/or paging.
Yes, most all of this WE gear of the 40's-60s was used in phone telecom closets either as PA testing or out in a factory hanging on the wall as part of a PA system. The Asian crowd has turned this stuff into holy grail crazy expensive stuff. There is more of this vintage WE stuff overseas than here in the USA today as a result.
@@Blueglow True dat!!!! hey love your channel btw. I would be really cool if you can do some videos on some of the holy grail vintage transformer's and also on some of the notes you said you had just got from the fellow.
Hi Mark.. Try selling the drivers separately if you can. They’d sell faster that way. You can sell the enclosures to more die hard completists lster on. Just a thought.. Gett well the soonest, and kind regards.
I have to use non-copyrighted music or my videos get flagged. This is from a friend of mine's band called the 1-10s. They were out of Nashville but have been defunct now for about 10 years.
Looks like one was taken down, they painted the wall and then hung it back up while it was wet because there’s paint on the back of it. And the other one, it looks like they just left on the wall and painted around it, getting paint on the sides of the cabinet in doing so. Odd.
Warren Roddy that was my assessment after owning 755a’s and I built dedicated cabinets that did help the low end but they still didn’t do it for me due to the lack of low end
I hear up to 19k and I compared them to speakers I had that went above 16k and it was obviously noticeable. They don’t extend beyond 15 or 16k and there is noticible roll off by then

Wondering what the driver nominal impedance is and the spec of the matching transformer. I couldn't read the label. Cheers Mark.
16 ohms. Transformer is for line matching.
Oh, 100 volt line level. Cheers. M@@Blueglow
Well the best of the best fullrange drivers ever. Some says Quad ESL with punch ! Good luck, they will sell very quickly !
Would really be curious as to how they’d sound with the backs in place. Interesting stuff.
Backs don't change much of anything on these. They aren't sealed.
Hey Mark, hoping for a speedy recovery. Did these end up going to Japan? Just curios.
They're not fall range they only cover the mid-range
Still for sale?

What was the music you played through them?

@@Blueglow To bad. I liked the song. I guess it's not available to be downloaded or purchased anywhere?

nice mids and high but lacking on the low end.

Yeah, the downside of any full range speaker.
And so, the AR-1 was born...
Hey demo your klipsch speakers!
Alright, I’ll give you $300 for the pair?
Wouldhave been nice to hear them with the backs on them.......
These cabinets are not ideal, even with the backs on. They sound better with properly made cabinets but they still just don't have enough bass for me.
At our age is it the speaker dropping out at 15 or 16 kHz or is it your ears dropping out at 15 or 16 kHz. Lol
Really good point...
Mark has measurements for both. They roll off at about 24 dB/octave below 100 Hz and above 10 Khz.

Or is it youtube clipping those frequency out?
