    Awesome vid...definitely helped me out...After an a few evenings of playing with different variables (boat speed and rope length) I was able to get wake to wake pretty easy but this vid was perfect for what I would like to do next. I think I need to do a little pop to get some more height and play around with the approach into the wake.

    this level of skill will take a lot of falls :D i thought it was similar to snowboarding but there is a different learning curve with the boat pulling you all the time vs sliding down a hill.
    Great video, thanks for the pointers.

      Skateboarding -> wakeboarding was pretty easy to pick up.
      I’d say wakeboarding is pretty easy going if you can figure out how to stand up right, it’s definitely worth trying if you have the access! Snowboarding is a steeper learning curve IMO.

    Is a ski pole necessary for jumping? The rope is low down on our boat so it maybe difficult to get some decent air :/

    I got into wakeboarding this summer (been skateboarding and snowboarding for many years) and I have started trying to jump from wake to wake, but I think our boat doesnt make big enough wakes, is this a huge factor or is it all about the jump(rope pull, legs straightened out etc)?

    Someone please respond to this, my boat doesn’t have a tower. Which means the cord stays at hip level. I can usually jump a wave even under these conditions, but I can’t ever jump as high as I want. Does the tower make a huge impact on this? Or am I doing something wrong?

      think you mean a tower, but yes it does help with air im no expert tho this vid did explain quite well tho what you need to do to jump the wake but i think they kind of neglected that they were using a wake boarding boat which means there wake is way nicer an easier to jump i use a crappy 87 ski boat still a blast tho

  • @davidontiveroz8295

    I watched the whole video start to end twice so I don’t know if I missed something or what but... I just went out and tried this at the wake park and ended up flying off the ramp trying to do a double gainer a solid ten feet above ground and landed on my head with the rope in my swim trunks. My face went numb from the pain and the rope ripped my shorts off my body, leaving me with no choice but to walk ashore fully nude for the whole park to see. My question is do they make special wakeboarding pants that stay on when regular swim trunks don’t?

    • @LearnWake
      @LearnWake  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Wow, a lot to digest here. The physics of a wake to wake jump vs. anything on the cable are significantly different. Please reference any of our cable/park videos and use those tips. As far as your shorts, if you want to avoid that there is always compression shorts that you could wear under your board shorts.

    • @davidontiveroz8295

    Try either going faster so that the wake is a bit more narrow. Or another really easy option is to shorten the rope by 10-15ft and stay at that 18-19mph range. Also it depends on how you launch yourself off the wake.

    after you flatten out your board in the toeside flats, the boat will begin pulling you back into the wake. then, apply a slow, progressive edge and you should have no slack in the rope.

    Is this a superwake or a "normal"?

    • @LearnWake
      @LearnWake  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      For an inboard boat, this would be considered pretty "normal". For reference most of those shots likely came from a Malibu VLX or V-ride from the early to mid 2000's. Today's new flagship inboard boats would be considered "superwakes" which are significantly bigger than what you see here.

    • @LearnWake
      @LearnWake  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      During this video, they are riding apx. a 70 to 75 ft rope, however rope length is always a function of the ability that you have, the boat you are using and the things you are working on. Play with different rope lengths as there is no magic length.

    you need to slowly start going into your edge. don't cut your edge as hard as you can as soon as you start going to the wake. build up to it, and cut hard when you get close to the wake. Never let up on your edge when your going in, it will mess you up.

    I know I’m good enough to clear the wake but the fear of it is holding me back... what do I do?

    • @LearnWake
      @LearnWake  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Play with the rope length, by not only making it shorter and easier to clear, but longer (and slower boat speed) to launch one wake jumps much bigger without the fear of the second wake being there on your landing. Depending on the boat, try riding as far out as your rope will go (80 to 85ft for example), slow the boat down to where the wake is about to curl over and try to pop high one wake jumps where you clear the prop wash (the white line from the back of the boat). If you can do this consistently, then take it wake to wake on a shorter rope. Then work your way back to your normal riding length.
