    Plenty of wind for a water start. No problem at all. When you have to grab the sail and the mast instead of the boom, then it's getting interesting.

    👍 Those water-starts were described very well, simple to understand and seeing them being performed whilst the instructions were being recited definitely made the actions being shown more clear to understand. I knew how to perform them anyway as I'd run my own Windsurfing school and gave clear descriptions to My customers myself.

    Nice to see how it is done with the big gear! I was wondering when to hook into the harness lines, I see you did so at 0:53 , but was wondering what exactly would be the best moment to do so (when the board starts picking up speed, or when it is sufficiently downwind, or when the sail pulls enough, I guess it probably is a combination of all 3?) I have no problems with the harness whatsoever when sailing but when waterstarting I usually hook in quite late, and when wave riding with the windsurf gear I tend to do everything with the arms...

      As soon as I stand on the board I hook in to the harness, gives me more time on the water by saving my arms

    What kind of camera mount is that? I like to buy one.

    • @speon
      @speon 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      It's the GoPro Max in 360 mode, you can make whatever mounting stick you attach it to invisible in the video - in this case the mount pole is attached to his back. For sure cool perspective, would like to know how he rigged the pole mount to his back.

    I don't get it. I was out with 8.6 Racing blade today, unable to waterstart and even unable to plane. But our water looked windier than in your video. There must be something seriously wrong with my technique or 'your' sea is quite different.

    • @WindsurfingNelson
      @WindsurfingNelson 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I would think there was very little and inconsistent wind in this scene (otherwise Nico wouldn't have fallen). Still, he managed to get wind under the rig and then there was a little puff. He got the rig upright first and then used the little puff to pull himself up actively. I try to get the sail up to vertical and wait for the best moment, when there is just enough 'resistance' to pull myself up quickly on top of the board.

      @phildupuis-skateboarding 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      I noticed too on the video that the wind seems quite weak with few people planing. Maybe he's catching a gut at the real good second. Thing seems so effortless and instantaneous...
