- Wolfburn is the most northerly distillery on the Scottish mainland. In 1821 William Smith founded the distillery on the outskirts of Thurso. It got its name from the watercourse of the same name.
The distillery is built of hard slabs of local Caithness stone. You can still see some of them. Smith invested heavily in the distillery and quickly became a major malt whiskey producer. In 1826 the annual production was 28,056 "Total Gallones of Proof Spirit" (about 125,000 liters). Wolfburn was operated by the Smith family until 1850.
Wolfburn now produces about the same amount as it did under William Smith's leadership. We were allowed to visit the Wolfburn distillery and got exciting insights that we don't want to withhold from you.

I was there . Bought a few bottles of good whisky, different flavors. My wife also bought a couple of bottles of whisky and souvenirs. A place worth visiting.

The brand ambassador did an amazing job presenting the Wolfburn whiskey. I just wish I could get it here in Canada.
Depending on your province, you may be able to order it through Alberta which can ship to a few other provinces.

@@Frick5171 Kensington Wine Market has an exclusive in a Mediera cask I think, it'll set you back $121+ though. They have had a few in stock, so always worth an occasional gander. Zyn too.

Great video. We're lucky to be able to purchase all the expressions from Wolfburn here in South Africa. I didn't know the yeast they use came from here!

Definitely the most unattractive Scotch Whisky distillery. Luckily their whisky is great.
They are attention seekers with their political statements. That should never get into Whisky. Whisky is about enjoying and tasting.
