The late great Bobby Hatfield...this is his song. I was so lucky to see him sing this song live on the Andy Williams show in 1965. I'm 72 yrs old and never tire listening to him. Pure raw talent! He nailed it!!! RIP Bobby!!! ❤❤❤
I was just 7 yrs years old at the time I saw this on tv back in 1965. Even as a little kid I liked this song. I'm turning 65 this Nov. And I'm glad to know someone from the audience is able to express their joy here. Best wishes to you always.
Song was first penned for a black movie about a convict in prison who was wishing to go home. Opera singer played convict. Do some research. Song was also in movie ....."Ghost".
I’m 69 years old and you’re right! They do t make music like this anymore! This is timeless! It’s beautiful and tender! The Righteous brothers have several great songs!
I think nearly everyone who ever held a mic has covered this song. But no one does it like Bobby in this performance . Elvis does a fantastic version, but Bobby owns it.
I have the Elvis 45rpm of this song. Also have one of Willie Nelson singing it. I agree that Bobby is #1 I just learned that back in 1955 there was a movie called Unchained and in it a guy named Todd Duncan sings it. You can find it on youtube.
You have just heard the greatest tenor that ever was. Bobby Hatfield was one half of the Righteous Brothers. You must se the black and white video of "You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling." And there are so many other amazing songs. Bobbys' "Summertime." Bill's "Brown Eyed Woman," "i Just Wanna Make Love To You." All of them will blow you away. They were called "Blue eyed soul" by some DJ. They are great as soloists or great as a duo. Never be anyone like them ever again. Not blood related, just brought together by Divine intervention. Unchained Melody was in 1990's "Ghost'". which made this song the first same record by the same artist to be a hit twice. Once in 1965 and again in 1990. Not bad for a 24year-old kid, eh?
Thank you for sharing my favorite song - lol. The Righteous Brothers are a duo. They sound like they have chorally trained voices, & I love how they put heart & soul into their music. Loving it. :D
I've watched both male and females watch this for the 1st time, and you guys seem to respond emotionally to the lyrics. Yes? You feel the passion as a man.
Thank You brother , I was born in the 50’s and I listened to all the greatest singers, Righteous Brothers, Elvis , The Beatles, Rolling Stones, , , Temptations you name it and they were the greatest , God Bless and keep up the good work 🙏🏽🙏🏽👍🏼👍🏼👏👏❤️🥰❤️😘
This is Bobby Hatfield. Bill Medley is the other singer of this duo. He sings with a deep voice. The song was used in the movie “Ghost”, which starred Patrick Swayze. Great movie 🥰‼️ If you haven’t seen it, you should. “Soul and Inspiration” is another great song by the Righteous Brothers.
Great reaction..you are so right on..the music from the 1960s-1970 unmatched. This song is from my generation..and I so appreciate the younger generation recognizing and appreciate the pure vocals..and your reaction is pure raw authenic..thank you for covering..
Bobby nailed it with his perfect pitch and touch of blues. He was a talented performer who felt his song and wanted you to as well. Bravo Bobby and may you rest in peace.
He was so nervous the first time he sang this song in front of his mother. She was in the audience. He slammed this song. She was so moved...so proud of her son.
Every sòng he sang was a delight. His musical partner - Bill Medley, also 25 yrs old. BILL had a deep Voice and sang lead because he couldn't sing harmony. So Bobby did and because of him they were the best ever. Listen to Soomewhere or My Prayer. For both listen to Soul and Inspiration. Another great singer AL Greene on "How do you mend a broken heart", or Linda Ronsteadt on Blue Bayou
This became the anthem of our soldiers in Vietnam to their wives and girlfriends for when…if…they came home. Women still love to slow dance to this song…blessed to have grown up with this kind of music.
Thank you, we so appreciate your willingness to be open to the roots of the 50's and 60's thru the 80's I loved music and am struggling with today's music.
Love your reactions! Love seeing you young folks open your minds to our generation of music. Back in 60's & 70's it truly required talent to make it. Not auto tune, computers etc. Just pure talent! Like they say, we may be old but we've seen all the best concerts!
I’m so glad that so many younger people are starting to listen to the music of my generation! This song especially gets straight from the soul! Pure talent!
Had the privilege of seeing the Righteous Brothers in person at the Orleans in Vegas just months before Bobby Hatfield passed away. A memory that will live on forever!
Bobby's mom was indeed in the audience (Andy Williams Show). Both he and Bill Medley were @ 26 when this was aired.Bobby was generally a tenor but had an amazing 4-octave vocal range. He also had profound stage fright which spanned most of his career...prior to pretty much every performance he'd throw up from the fear then showed his amazing professionalism by pulling himself together and walking out on stage with his partner Bill and just killing it. And this was back at a time when there were few if any gimmicks and you had to make it or break it with nothing but talent.
One thing that has never changed is a young persons ability to enjoy music, watching you made my day. So glad to see music can reach everyone. Try "you've lost that loving feeling" where both righteous brother sing. Best wishes from Michigan!
I'm so pleased to hear that this generation of music listeners has some yearn to reach back in time to listen to music that melted the hearts of those of my generation. It does my heart good to know that, hopefully, this music has a chance of living on through you. Thanks for your reactions to The Righteous Brothers. I do have a suggestion that may be of interest to you; this song is from the 80's and it's called 'How Bout Us' by a group called Champaign. I think you will be very pleased.:)
This song and this performance, is considered to be among the all time best ever, ever recorded. I am old enough to remember when this song was a STANDARD on the radio for years. It was originally written for a movie about a guy stuck in prison, but when Righteous Brothers produced this, it was during the time that the Viet Nam war was heating up, and young men were being drafted and sent over seas. It became a beloved song of the era..., and for the men who returned home from war, to the women who waited, this became a wedding song for many. This song is so iconic that, yes, you hear pieces of it in movies and commercials etc. The Righteous Bros are now even more popular than ever...this song alone has over 60 million views world wide. I love watching a new gen react to this song..the vocal, the story, the music is heavenly. I've noticed several reactors have said after hearing this "when I hear music like this, I feel I've missed something. It puts a trance on you" I think the difference between amazing old ballads like this (#1) and todays mostly "Celeb Drivin' performances, are that the latest songs are just shallow. It is this music truly from the heart, that so many can relate to in some way, that grabs a persons heart and soul, Soul Music Bro...Soul Music.
Need to hear 1964 You've lost that lovin feeling with both Bill and Bobby...last of the great music. Just raw good music when real talent was all you need.
Check out YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING by the Righteous Brothers. You will see both members of the duo singing (black and white video, December 1964).
One of the most romantic songs of all time: "lonely river flows to the sea, to the sea. To the open arms of the sea. Lonely rivers sigh "wait for me, wait for me'. I think every woman hears that & wants to shout "I'm waiting! I'm waiting!"
Real raw talent there! "You've lost that lovin' feeling" is a good one to follow up with. You can see the range of both group members. You're appreciation of music is wonderful to see. Great reaction.
I was 18 when I saw this Live on The Andy Williams Show 1965... Bobby never recorded it solo he just sang it live a couple times on TV. They both sang the recorded version together and it is the version you hear in Ghost...I still have the original recorded 45 single from 1965..the B side song is Runout which most people have never heard them sing.
No, Bobby recorded it solo and always sang it solo. He had his solos and Bill had his. Unchained Melody was the B-side of the 45. Hung on You was the A-side.
My father was in the US Navy and he was away on cruises for half the time he was married to my mother (until he retired after 27 years in the Navy). This was their song. They were married for 55 years until he passed in 2009.
Wow, Edwin, you've got so many rabbit holes you can dive into. What fun. I'll give you one suggestion. The original song came out in 1967, but there is a fantastic live version, complete with orchestra, of the Procol Harum song, A Whiter Shade Of Pale, filmed in Denmark in 2006. The singer is Gary Brooker, who sounds just as good as when the original came out. Best Wishes.
Love your reaction to Bobby singing this, an all time master . No autocue, just voice , live performance and he nailed it. The movie this played in was Ghost .
Hey Edwin…just watched your reaction to this song and you earned my subscription. You are so respectful and authentic in your observations and comments…and you let your feelings show as you’re listening. Bobby was pure talent…when I think about the idea that we’re all expressions of God’s love then I have to believe some are put here to channel God’s perfection for the rest of us to enjoy and recognize on a deeper level. The vibrations coming from Bobby’s vocal cords that allow him to hit those notes are almost ethereal. He could be singing his grocery list and it would touch the hearts of listeners everywhere. I also loved that you noticed Bobby’s outfit and how well he was put together. It was a different time…and 1965 was right before things changed drastically in our society, culture and music. The music was still fantastic after things changed but different…and people certainly stopped dressing up for things. I was only 9 years old in 1965 but do remember the music and how people dressed back then. The effort they put into looking nice is certainly worth our notice and respect. Of course I say this as I sit here in yoga pants and flip flops but…hey…respect where it’s due.
You're cool, man...I am 70 and still can not get enough of the 50's and 60's tunes, black, white, it didn't matter, if they could sing they got played. There was no support. just had to have talent. Great music with great lyrics. Love it. Ghost was the movie! I just revisited the Beatles and the Temptations..... My Girl! Wow, I never get tired of listening to great tunes.
Bobby Hatfield, who you just heard, and Bill Medley make up the Righteous Brothers. The absolute must listen song by them is “You’ve Lost that Loving Feeling”.
It was so refreshing to see a young person enjoying this particular music. I am at least old enough to be your grandma and I love this song. It would always bring me to tears. You might remember the music as the theme from the movie 'Ghost' with Whoopie Goldberg, Demi Moore, and the late Patrick Swayze. The Righteous Brothers were not brothers but sang together in a club. After a number they performed, one of the patrons said something to the effect of " that's righteous, brothers ". Liking the remark, that became their name. Do check out You've Lost That Loving Feeling.
Bill Hadley the other half of the Righteous Brothers is known for singing the duet in the movie Dirty Dancing if you remember the movie. I had the Time of My Life that's the title of the song. I heard that bill is still alive he sings with his daughter and small venues and places around where he lives and he sings a lot of Duets too with his daughter. Bill is in his early 80s
The studio version of this was in the movie Ghost. But this is a superior version of his song. Yes, Bobby owns this song! Bill Medley was the other half of the Righteous Brothers. He has a Baritone voice. . Bill is still performing. But sadly we lost Bobby in 2003 much too soon.
It's called blue-eyed soul from the 60's which brought Motown, Rhythm & Blues and the civil rights movement. These two sang some of the most beautiful harmonious love songs with a tenor Bobby singing here and Bill has a rich baritone voice. Bobby had a 6 octave range of pitch and both have such a clarity of pitch! I believe this is the most popular song of the 20th century!
First time I heard this "melody" was on my Sega console in the 90s, and then in the movie Ghost. This song is the greatest love song ever made, so I bet it was in many shows and on radio, so who knows where you heard it.
What you just heard was pure raw talent. There is no autotune, no electronics, just one man singing. Anybody can be a popstar today with little to no talent but back in those days, if you couldn’t sing you were going nowhere. Lots and lots of talent back then so I’m glad you’re starting to explore more. Make sure to check out The Carpenters and Barbra Streisand in the 60’s and 70’s. Both are phenomenal.
Whether you post reactions or not listening to all types of music and especially music from the past is worthwhile. Lots of beautiful music from the 50s especially.
I’m so glad you’re interested in other musical genres. That means that you are open minded and smart to listen to and appreciate previous generations. Thank you for your presentation!

"Ghost"!!!! You heard it in the movie "Ghost" !!!!!
Bobby Hatfield was 24 here, with his mom in the audience.
This was back in the day when men actually respected women. No hos then.
This is Bill Medley.
BILL MEDLEY IS SINGING HERE 👌
,
Actually NO ONE has ever sung like this before or since! Voice of an angel 😇
And suit is salmon :)
You interrupt too much
Watch me 😂
It has been reported that his mother was in the audience and he desperately wanted to do a perfect performance for her. He nailed it!!🌺✌️
When he bites his lower lip at the end you know he knows he nailed it, too.
AND he had a Cold.
@Markus Pryde Brings tears to my eyes everytime! Pure, pure voice. OMG. I would have married him and loved him to bits.
@Markus Pryde Ooooo I love that Markus. So very sorry for your loss as I know your grandad is in paradise.
Yes, I have heard that also
Honey your generation has missed all the good music. Im so glad i grew up in this era.

I'm 48 and your comment made me teary....I get nostalgic for a time and place I never knew. Your comment moved me. What a treasured memory! ❤️❤️❤️
Funny you mentioned Andy Williams, that was a non stop play growing up at my house. My mom adored him.😊❤
@@jeromejackson2018 sounds like you. Need to do some research. You’re right by a number of other artists have covered it.
Someone's gotta say it: the orchestra killed it too!
And the backup singers
oh yeah ...
Facts.
I’m 69 years old and you’re right! They do t make music like this anymore! This is timeless! It’s beautiful and tender! The Righteous brothers have several great songs!
Pure talent. No autotune - just a guy with a little mic giving his gift.
I think nearly everyone who ever held a mic has covered this song. But no one does it like Bobby in this performance . Elvis does a fantastic version, but Bobby owns it.
Even if I could sing, I wouldn't try to touch it with a ten foot pole.
Facts! Elvis' version is wonderful, but this is Mr. Hatfield's song
I have the Elvis 45rpm of this song. Also have one of Willie Nelson singing it. I agree that Bobby is #1 I just learned that back in 1955 there was a movie called Unchained and in it a guy named Todd Duncan sings it. You can find it on youtube.
Love Elvis, but have to agree
This was pure talent, performed live. No kind of any auto tuning involved. Back when you had to be able to actually sing ;)
The good old days of music when people actually had to have talent
And a mono mike…
Bobby Sang this for the movie Ghost with Patrick Swayze. A wonderful movie. They both sound awesome together but both sing solos as well.

I agree, You've Lost That Lovin' Feeling is a must!
You mean pop tenor.
He was class president at my high school (Anaheim High) 10 years before I got there :-)
Bobby was 25 years old at the time. He is in the rock and roll hall of fame. A man, a mic and pure talent. No gimmicks.
No autotune, no gimmicks, just a man and a microphone.
Thank you for sharing my favorite song - lol. The Righteous Brothers are a duo. They sound like they have chorally trained voices, & I love how they put heart & soul into their music. Loving it. :D
Live performance, no autotune in those days, just flawless talent and skill.
This was called blue-eyed soul, also know as panty dropping music.

One of the greatest voices of all time.
Masterpiece ! Owns this song! High range of a tenor ..nails it! So smooth !
I have heard thousands of live performances. This has to be one of the best singing performances I have ever heard. He hits 2.5 octaves.

The man sang like that WITH A COLD. Live. Wearing the hell outta that pink suit. And threw it out there effortlessly. Didn't strain at all. 💜💚💛🤘✌️
A cold?? That’s amazing
Pure silk & honey
"No one sings like this anymore." Gorgeous song.
TRUE LOVE in a song performed to PURE PERFECTION IMHO......AND 100% "LIVE"😍🔥😍🔥
That’s a live recording, long before autotune...
pure blue eyed soul.
Bobby nailed it with his perfect pitch and touch of blues. He was a talented performer who felt his song and wanted you to as well. Bravo Bobby and may you rest in peace.
No auto tune just a true pure singer
Bobbys voice is so romantic. I love it.

I've thoroughly enjoyed your "reaction" to this. You're a lovely, thoughtful, passionate young man. Bless.

Righteous Brothers: You lost that loving feeling, Soul and Inspiration, Summertime, You'll never walk alone, Ebb Tide, Latin Lupe Lu and many more.
Dam He's good...still live Him,I'm 70!

Need to hear 1964 You've lost that lovin feeling with both Bill and Bobby...last of the great music. Just raw good music when real talent was all you need.
Back when music had heart.
The 60’s produced a lot of great love songs.
Good for you for caring enough to expand your musical education and help to keep great music alive. This was called blue-eyed soul back in the day.
A live performance with no gimmicks just pure talent.
Check out YOU’VE LOST THAT LOVING FEELING by the Righteous Brothers. You will see both members of the duo singing (black and white video, December 1964).

First time I heard this "melody" was on my Sega console in the 90s, and then in the movie Ghost. This song is the greatest love song ever made, so I bet it was in many shows and on radio, so who knows where you heard it.
There were many versions prior to this one. The original was from a prison movie called, "Unchained."
Very intelligent and awesome/honest reaction. Subscribed!!!
Good for you, this is truly great music and stands the test of time. Enjoy.
Great video!!! Good choice! You next choice should be The Platters, either Smoke gets in your Eyes or Twilight Time! Love your reaction!
Whether you post reactions or not listening to all types of music and especially music from the past is worthwhile. Lots of beautiful music from the 50s especially.
You are a wise young man. Keep discovering new music
You're loving and talking about it just warms my soul.
Watching a young one listen and truly appreciate this makes me so happy.
great reaction this is the 6th time tonight listening to it, off to the next one.
I’m so glad you’re interested in other musical genres. That means that you are open minded and smart to listen to and appreciate previous generations. Thank you for your presentation!
Great reaction! Great music is eternal.
I grew up with this wonderful music, yes you’re right, they don’t make music like this anymore, it’s good to see your appreciation. 👍🏼💎
This was a great song and a great time to live - being 74 I can remember the first time I heard Bobby sing it.
Classic, stand s the test of time
Righteous Brothers/Rock And Roll Heaven
