      Thanks for liking our design. John was delighted to hear that as he designed the house. We are finished the blockwork. Ow of the extension and in the spring we'll start the roof and get it sealed. Thanks so much and we really appreciate your comments and time. 🤗

    WOW You two did an amazing job on this home. I bought medieval small house in Italy. My renovations were nothing compared to your job. Impressive. You both are building a beautiful family home for your children to grow up in. They will always appreciate the beauty of old homes and nature. Thank you for sharing your journey with us.

    Thanks for keeping us updated on building your house. I think you mentioned previously that you both have full time jobs besides doing this and TH-cam, not forgetting taking care of your little one. You are both working so hard and I admire your determination to keep going even though at times you must be exhausted. Please do not apologise for not posting a video regularly, I'm sure the people who are following you will understand. All the best to you both.

      Ah thanks for your understanding response. Means a lot. We are full on and as you could probably very tired but we are so determined to get to our end vision and that pulls us through especially with the weather in Ireland dictates so much in regards to outsiders work. We will be due our next baby in march.thanks for being on this journey with us. 💕

    Good for you! You are on an adventure and you're doing SOOO well. Give yourself credit for every little thing. You'll discover that the block works will prove to be the most time consuming part of the project because it IS one block at a time. I expect you have dozens of stories when you look at the walls remembering what this one took to do or that one. Everything else will come together. You'll see. And sooner than you realize. Thanks for the update. We're all there with you!

    • @Building-a-life
      @Building-a-life  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so much for your encouraging words. It meant a lot and agree that the blocks were such a huge part of the house in terms of time consumption. Please god we'll look back and see all the work and the laughs and tears. 😂😅 Thank you for always commenting and giving John and I such motivation. We really appreciate it. 🤗

    You guys are the best. So much hard work, and so much love - it’s a joy to watch you both as you build your home
    I read all about the folks who turn their noses up at cement, and demand to work only in lime. For what it’s worth, our stone schoolhouse was covered in fat, ugly render - and when it was removed, all the repointing was done in cement. We are dry as bones, warm as toast, and the building is in better shape than it’s been since 1891.
    Do what works - it’s best for the long haul…
    Thanks for showing what you’ve been up to lately - the new patio will be great for the little ones!

    You have achieved so much in such a short time you both should be very proud. We will look forward to watching your progress in 2024 whenever you get a chance to do a video. but for now 'put the feet up' and enjoy the Christmas. You are making beautiful memories what with the new house and Santy coming these are precious moments so enjoy the well earned break. All the best for the New Year and God Bless.

    Checking up on you two. I hope you are well and life is good. mine you have your hands full with many things so the project and any filming have to take a back seat. That said, I wanted you both to know that I've been thinking of you. Wishing you a Happy Christmas (if that's your thing) and, of course, a stellar new year!

    All these steps forward have been great and you'll be able to watch all these vlogs yourself in years to come! I wish we'd have thought to record when we did ours. This is our third, not builds mind, renovations. You forget all you've done though and whilst you're putting your backs into the work you forget to take pics. ❤ XXX

    • @Building-a-life
      @Building-a-life  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      So true. We are laying concrete down in the back now and boy god it's tough. We are enjoying seeing the progress and the huge difference it's making as it's turning it from a construction site to a proper backyard and all the hard work is so worth it. Now John's doing the tough work and I'm raking it but we are enjoying it. But you're right, so good to look back on the memories. And a huge congratulations on doing three renovations. That's impressive..🤗

    Amazing work

  • @maryangela9178
    @maryangela9178 ปีที่แล้ว

    Please, don't forget to add pipes in your pathways to be able to run future irrigation and electrical through BEFORE you pour the concrete walkways and drive. Also please include drainage holes in your embankment walls to allow the water from the hill a place to drain. Lastly, any places that water currently pools now on the ground, add a french drain. This should be done prior to any landscaping, pathways, or driveways being completed. I would reconsider adding planter boxes up against the house. It just would lead to future water intrusion problems.

    • @Building-a-life
      @Building-a-life  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you so so much for all that information, we really appreciate it and we are doing our drainage and pipes first. We have some done already from last winter but all this information is so welcomed. Thank you and also for taking the time to give us your knowledge 🤗

    Why did you not build a cavity wall in the extension?
