I've never played the Genesis version, but I've mastered the SNES version, I can say this version is a HELL of a lot more Horror themed than the SNES one. And this is another one of those games that when on older consoles the levels changed.
Saw this game in the game magazine (in my childhood), but never had a chance to play (didn't see the cartridge in stock). I am from Russia. Will play today online via emulator :)) thanks guys for this videoguide. The game is still looking impressive

Loved this game. Never realized that the Genesis version had blood, but that was usually always the case back then - SNES had the superior graphics and sound, Genesis had the blood and gore. I loved both of those systems so much and miss these simpler days of gaming.

i came here just when i saw this game cartridge few mins back when i was tiding my room, i found it inside the top abandoned cupboard. it was hell of scary back then, i didn't even finish the first level.

39 years later and I find out today they made a game of this. If I would've known I would've tracked it down hahahababa. I bought every movie themed game I could find when I was a kid cause I was and still am a movie geek

Never learned how to use items when I was a kid and got permastuck at the mausoleum in the world of the dead where you need to use a staff to drop the platform in the traproom. Had to use a password from the cheatbook to get past that.
I remember being 9 and asking for a horror game in the game shop... they gave me this. I'll never forget that day. Years later as and adult saw the movies, the first 2 are okay, the third one sucks.
Grest run of a very good and very underappreciated game!A piece of advice,you should use the orb a lot more often.There's also this orb zig zag motion that I didn't see you use at all,it's very effective,especially against bats.

I had this game, but never figured out how to get through the first level - apparently I missed some critical part of controls. UPD: Or probably my version was busted. That elevator never moved and blue cristal was not interactable.
+kokojepry Potions heal a little bit hp.skulls damage all enemies on screen.green triangles creates a barrier tha damage enemies.faces heal all hp but can be used as extra lives too and there is another item but I don't remember what it does.
The Pentagram and the Sundial if the pentagram was on the Genesis version. Pentagram destroys all enemies, even enemies the Skulls can't kill. The Sundial will toss you back in time to where it was picked up and reset the level, allowing you to pick up more items.
One of the few times the video game outperformed the movie, in my opinion. The warlock can turn humans and animals in horrific monsters. You have to chase the warlock literally to the darkest corners of the earth.
This game was voted "worst game ever" and bashed by reviewers!!?? How??? This game looks really beautiful. Just watching the 1st two minutes and I'm sold, it sucks that I never got a chance to play this. Among the horror themed games that came out for Genesis, I rank this along with Castlevania Bloodlines and Splatterhouse 2 & 3.
I never played this game back in the day, but my friend mentioned it as being "the worst game of all time". As I watch you play this, it actually looks kinda fun to me. Granted, I didnt really stick around past 10 min, but if this is "the worst game of all time" he ever played, clearly he didn't play some of the crap I did as a kid. Also, I dunno how difficult the gameplay is, but you look pretty pro during the process of the walkthrough, so clearly the controls couldnt be *that* bad either.
Soooo many good games RUINED by bad controls or lack of a tutorial on how to use them. Maybe the manual helped a bit, but most people I knew didn't have a god forsaken manual LOOOL

The sound of this game is bad emulated in the video. Just listen the cymbal sound of the game that sounds like a beep here... These sounds glitches/noises are normal in old emulators with games that use the Sega Mega Drive/Genesis Gems Sound Drive
@M. A. Packer No you're wrong. This is most definitely being played on an emulator, which is butchering the sound and adding that annoying beep which isn't present on genuine hardware. Emulators suck.

This game used to creep me out and scare me. I remember it being very difficult; I never finished it.

As much as I like a lot of the Genesis games, I always had to play them muted because Sega's sound is just ear rape
You've obviously never played nintendo, and no, that's not the emulator, it sounds like that on the normal system
