Ok hear me out: in a way, I feel like they do end up together. When she rejected him by refusing to go to New York, she was still struggling with her addiction. Now, she's recovering from it, and he's forgiven her for choosing her addiction over him. We didn't get a chance to see the two of them reunite after returning from the USSR, so I'd like to assume that when she returned they got together. At least, this is what I tell myself so I don't cry LMAO
In the book they end up together so I just assume it’s the same in the series.

The way they looked towards each other in all the scenes in New York just makes my heart flutter. And also the way Beth reacted after the 1st speed chess... And Benny's I miss you tell how much he was attracted to Beth.. They both are perfect together.

I loved the scene when Beth went to New York with Benny bc they sing in the car together and in the earlier episodes she couldn’t relate to the apple pie girls who sang together. She found a true connection whether it was friendship or love in Benny.

This video has me screechin so much oh my gosh. Out of all ghe flings Beth had I know what she and Benny had was real because they were both just,,,, sorta Like the saying "iron sharpens iron" and "like calls to like" because theyre both kinda up there in that same ability to play chesd and then Benny watches as she starts to grow better than him, and he isnt jealous, or upset or selfish with his advice hes absolute in awe by this woman who has progressed so quickly in the game. He's definitely fallen to some degree and Beth probably definitelt feels challenged by his abilities at first and even when she surpasses him she continues to come back to him for help. Like y'all this is real development 😭😭
For me I'm not upset they didn't end up together, the time they spent was precious and they will always be close friends.
