When I'm trying to determine whether these things are intentional or not, I'm taking into account the skill of the defender. That skill is what determines the motions they make. This was 100% intentional.

In addition to Clark's popularity, Nalyssa used to get lot of touches before. But after Caitlin showed up, her touches dropped dramatically. So the hatred and motivations are clearly there. It's best for both CC and NS for NS to leave Fever after this season.
Nylissa and Mitchell both need to leave. I know Mitchell was hinting see might leave after the season is over. I hope that after Mitchell sees this ambush on Carrington that it confirms she needs to leave that toxic environment.
As for dawana guarding Caitlin, don’t think it was that great because Caitlin got a lot of uncontested 3’s she just didn’t hit them. I have to think the eye scratch messed with the depth perception. Caitlin is never going to blame anything other than herself. It was the worst % she’s ever shot from 3 in a game.
Robin slow motion you clearly see a hand movement towards CC’s face why would you change the angle of your hand as you complete the movement and there is no attempt to avoid hitting the eye and once you did that you just leave her falling to the floor no questions asked that early in the game. I think something is definitely off here and if you look at the video and the timing of it (meaning early start of the game instead of anywhere else). I did not have access to it but somebody said that Dijonai was micked up and actually acknowledged that it was intentional on her part if that comment that I read is true there is definitely ground for suspension.
It wasnt an accident.🙄 Dijonai has been very clear on her hatred for Caitlin and how many times will the sports media call it coincidence?? I am 100% here for the get back but Carrington needs to be benched fod game #2. PERIOD!!!!
I actually saw an email thread within the Suns organization where they discussed sharpening their fingernails and trying to give Caitlyn a corneal abrasion to blur her vision. The assistant coach got nervous about the scheme, but their coach wrote back something to the effect that if one of the black players did it and got caught, they can just claim the media is racist and stereotyping the player as violent.
The only starting rookies that didn’t get hurt this season: Cc, Rickea, and Jacey Sheldon … Starting Rookies straight from college injured this season: Cordosa, Brink, Aaliyah Edwards, and Reese.
“Almost dived into her eye”? Robin, watch it again a few times. It wasn’t almost; she definitely directed her nails into Caitlin’s eye. She was watching where her non-splayed, pointed fingertips were going. Believe your eyes. The reason you didn’t think anything of it when it happened was because you didn’t see the angle that shows Carrington pointing her once splayed fingers and watching them go directly into Caitlin’s eye.
So many people have said if it weren't for Caitlin Clark they would not have watched any WNBA games. I had not watched before but thanks to CC, I have enjoyed seeing other hoopers play that I hadn't heard of. There are some for whom I have zero respect but Karma will eventually take care of them. Fever fan all the way. 🔥
I really don't understand how someone that does play the game can call that an accident. If you watch in full speed and don't pay attention it does look accidental, but if you watch her wrist shift before impact it really does show an intentional move. The other angle shows it better and the slap that should occur becomes a jab with the fingers.
You need to watch the replay again but watch after the strike to her eye. Watch Carrington after the fact. She stops and looks like she is expecting the foul and is getting ready to protest.
You get hit in the eye like that your vision will become a problem period...and it's highly unlikely going to fix itself in a matter of minutes. To think otherwise is ridiculous, regardless if she's shooting bad or not.
The motion of her follow through is more like what a Volleyball spike would look. Anyone that’s ever played the game of basketball closing in for a block would automatically pull back their hands once over missed the block IF YOU DON’T WANT TO INJURE SOMEONE. the automatic reaction should be to keep your hand open and laid back in a surrender position. The fact that she pulled her hand down with a spike position means she intended to increase the kinetic energy of that motion. The league was an inch away from renegotiating their new contract
There is actually a rule that's in the book but the refs won't enforce it. (The officials shall not permit any player to wear equipment which, in his/her judgment, is dangerous to other players) This last attack was really dangerous and could have easily ended her career. I think the worst part is the commissioner and the referees don't give a damn that's like they're trying to end her career. Why would they let somebody wear one inch acrylic nails while playing basketball
Based on the context of all of her posts about hating on CC and then this angle, there really is no question in my eyes. That was deliberate and dangerous. Is CC an angel, nope. She has had her moments as well, striking out at those she feels are riding her back. At this point, I am beyond ready for the Fever to pickup a Jonquel Jones or similar player that can at least make players think twice before being a-holes.
It appears WNBA stands for Wicked Narcissist Blatant Assassins. Caitlyn Clark's game was severely impacted because you don't have depth perception when one of your eyes has been hurt. Dijonai Carrington should have been kicked out of the game, and the WNBA after putting all her fingers together, then intentionally jabbed Caitlyn Clark in the eye. It reminded me of a scene in the Kill Bill movie. The Three Stooges would have done better than the REF's did last night.
Some possible circumstantial evidence that it was intentional that almost no one's talking about: 1. Compare how Carrington usually goes up to contest/block shots/passes in similar instances vs how she did it here - has she ever come straight down with her fingers/nails into someone's eyes/face before? Not that I know of. If her normal motion in this regard looks like that then that's one thing, but if not and this is the only time she's done it, then that's sus. 2. Carrington isn't afraid of expressing herself online, so if this was purely an accident, then surely she would've mentioned something along those lines - her silence speaks volumes.
I've played for about 20 years and I have never been raked in the eyes when someone is blocking my pass or shot. Usually those happen when they're trying to swipe the ball as I hold it away. As someone mentioned, she's a PRO, she knew what she was doing. NaLyssa S., ur a poor teammate.
This was PRACTICED!! That’s the key determining factor. Precision comes only through deliberate and disciplined focus and practice. This was intentionally PRACTICED then executed-- this doesn’t get fixed without lawsuits.
Any player who goes down and holds their face needs to have the play reviewed automatically by the refs. That was a flagrant 2, and DC should have been ejected. That might have changed the entire game. Nails need to be trimmed. No jewelry.
IRONICALLY NOT ONE COMPLAINT FROM WHEN (AT) ALYSSA THOMAS OF THE SAME TEAM THREW REESE DOWN BY THE NECK AND SHE HIT HER HEAD ON THE FLOOR. WE DONT WANT TO HEAR IT NOW!!!!! EITHER COMPLAIN ABOUT BOTH OR NOT AT ALL!!!!
that is exactly what i thought happened when it was in FAST motion. there was a swipe at the ball and then an extra odd-looking follow-through, and Caitlyn's eye was hit. i am so sick of this 'legalized' assault under the guise of 'it's a physical game'. this one could have ended CC's career. (not to mention the food train for the WNBA)
You can't blame slow mo for her fingers collapsing together and her wrist angling down ... that is not a natural motion and finger placement for a follow through motion after blocking/swatting/deflecting. Name me an instant where a player will collapse their fingers together like that? Anyone one who ever played basketball would know. Don't be an idiot and blame it on "slow mo made it look bad" bs
The fever lost all on their own!!!! lol Defense is what wins championship. You wont go far in the playoffs without rebounds and defense. . . ask Angel, she has a championship under her belt.
Don't know what? The intentionality is proven by one single move of the two cohordinated by the strong will of the offender: 1) the fingers are moved from open (to stop the pass) to joined to get more finger strenght and safety (agaist possible fingers injury due to the lateral move in the strike) 2) the move down of the wrist was as fast as the fingers joint, in order to not strike the head but poke the eye. CC has been "lucky" thanks to the too strong will of the offence, so that the first finger went down a little below the eyeball. Otherwise the sport carrier of CC would have been terminated.
Carrington assaulted Clark. I don't see Carrington making a play for the ball. I see Carrington shaping her hand into a claw. It was a planned move waiting for an opportunity.
The problem with the eye gouge is she walked away knowing that she did it and did not acknowledge it at all someone hit you on the court hard you at least want an acknowledgment if not we got problems.
If it on purpose ,she was trying to blind her eye. But I can't stand when people down play it because of fairness or cowardness which ever it may be. No she wouldn't say anything about it why because of cowards who want so bad to be fair and inclusive ,it's the ESPN generation sport talk. Which I think ruined sports.
@@TheRobinLundberg Yes, you can be certain! Stop being disingenuous and making believe you're just being ''fair.'' People can see the truth with their own 2 eyes!
Dijonai and marina can be seen celebrating in the background after and mabrey is doing the hand movement, dajonai laughing...so intentional, and smith looking sheepish the whole match is suspect, she knew what was going to happen.
They need to end fake nails, long nails, and sharp nails. They can be used as weapons. In Water Polo the referee checks the players' nails before every game. If you have long or sharp nails, you have to cut them or you can't play.
If she didn’t have the one-sided beef with CC, I would try to give her the benefit of the doubt. But she’s been hating all season, and the Sun love to play dirty.
Wow, the angle of that slow motion video leaves no doubt whatesover that his was 100% intentional. That the refs turned a blind eye (bad pun), and nothing said from the league office or even from the Fever demostrates the level of corruption within the W. Carrington showed her hatred for Clark earlier in the season and what happened here is no coincidence. More than just cheating, this assault with those daggers could have blinded Clark. CC should leave the W for overseas bball as well as other opportunities off the court. This league does not deserve her.
Sun doesn't earn this win by assaulting the Fever sharpshooter with an intentional Edward Scissorhand assault. That's not the basketball I want to watch.
I'm not. Robin goes overboard to be ''fair.'' He claims to coach his kids' games. I wonder how he'd react if one of his kids, or players, got eye gouged like that?
@@serafinobueti7154 you should take this response every time one of the ladies in the league get hit accidently!!! I bet you never spoke up before. Thats why you should remain quiet now.
The ball was already done. Then she turned the hand downwards so her long nails would stike her eye. A clear intent to do bofily injury. Which is a crime.
Then at the end of that claw to the eye, she shoved her. Watch the full clip! Its horrendous! The refs were negligent. Her coach and teammates didn’t get angry that this happened to Caitlin! It’s very disappointing to watch. Now I understand why the wnba got very little attention!
The W has made it clear that they don’t want fans like me. So there’s no friggin way I’ll ever watch any games other than CC. I was very willing to give the league a shot but that time has gone.
lol Thank goodness. 1/2 the fans left because Clark endorsed Kamala Harris, now if could get the 1/2 to leave before the next season comes maybe we could watch the other ladies in peace!!!!
Looking at the tape from the left side of the court. She had her hand extended with her fingers splayed out. Most if not all players leave their hand in that same position when it comes down and may hit the other player fouling them. She turned her fingers down like a claw that came down in clarks face. You cannot tell me that wasn't intentional. Dirt play. Clark said it didn't affect her play but this was by far her worst game ever. So just saying maybe it did.. Carrington is an average player who resorted to playing dirty to try and get the advantage she couldn't get it any other way
Absolutely disgusting intentional attempt to hurt Clark. And yes the refs need do a nail check before each game and make anyone with untrimmed nails get rid of them or don't play.
have you seen the clip of Marina and Dijonai making fun of it? Marina makes the same purposeful hand movement toward Dijonai and they laugh! Disgusting! This was no accident IMO and to celebrate it is purely unbelievable
When I'm trying to determine whether these things are intentional or not, I'm taking into account the skill of the defender. That skill is what determines the motions they make. It didn't look intentional in real-time but the slow motion playback is clear. She poked her in the eye.
Podcasters - “No sure if intentional?”
Commenters - “Absolutely intentional!”
This guy saying " He's not sure if it was intentional " is completely Moronic
Why would Carrington do something like that intentionally. She would do that to any of the ladies in the league on purpose. Make it make sense!!!!

Mr. Catlin Clark is a DEI hire for the rookie of the year.
You get hit in the eye like that your vision will become a problem period...and it's highly unlikely going to fix itself in a matter of minutes. To think otherwise is ridiculous, regardless if she's shooting bad or not.
I've never in my years of playing basketball Have my palm pointed doing when going for a block. It's always full extension until I land
She weaponizes her hand.
What's the Easiest Way to WIN .........Blind the Best Player on the TEAM !!! Oh and Pay off the REFs TOO !!!
She swiping the ball?! (0:47) Did you analyze the movement? Curving her finger down on the face of Caitlin.

@@denisebailey3226 Looks like you have a severe case of the *ENVY BUG.*
Whose hand makes that fingers together wrist bent down motion as a natural follow through on a missed shot/pass block?
Some possible circumstantial evidence that it was intentional that almost no one's talking about:
Nai nai most definitely did it on purpose. You can clearly see her aiming. I don't see how anyone can have doubts. 😤
No jewelry.

It feels like a weak condemnation. The whole game would have been different without it. It's easy for the opponents to be cociliatory after the game.
that is exactly what i thought happened when it was in FAST motion. there was a swipe at the ball and then an extra odd-looking follow-through, and Caitlyn's eye was hit. i am so sick of this 'legalized' assault under the guise of 'it's a physical game'. this one could have ended CC's career.

Because your blowing it out of context!!!!
@@denisebailey3226 And you blow it everyday.
