Gonna be a rainy Sunday tomorrow, think I’ll start on a little FD11 that I picked up in KC last winter.
Your videos motivate the rest of us to keep finding and fixing these little treasures.

Started out rainy today, but turned out decent. Still not able to get to the lake, but I will eventually. Rainy day is a great opportunity to get your FD-11 service started. Glad I can be a motivator. Good luck with your motor. Thanks for watching!

Thank you Johnny Rude! Your pond is maybe a wee bit small for your new boat. I’m sure it will do much better on the open water. Definitely try the controls. Have a great weekend out your way Sir! It’s turned into tornado season here in parts of Iowa. So far so good here in southeast Iowa! Mark in Iowa.

The pond is a bit small, but the controls make a HUGE difference in this boat. It transformed my other boat from the second worst boat I have ever run to a favorite a d one that I always enjoy running. This boat is just a backup for my other one. It will end up being basically a twin to it. It's been a decent weekend. Quite a lot of rain, but some nice weather mixed in also. Be safe out there in tornado season. Thanks for watching, Mark!

Perfect motor for a 12 ft imo

Yep, nothing wrong with a 20 horse on a 12. I run 18hp-25hp motors on my 12 footers regularly. Thanks for watching!

Hello Ben. Smooth quiet runner. Looks like your pond has come up some.

This is a nice, smooth motor with good power. Yes, the pond is up nicely now. I have a bit more surface area now after getting the pond dug out too. There are places on the bottom that are a bit high, but right now there is plenty of water in it. The banks are still really sandy and soft with no vegetation growth so it gets muddy fast right now. Thanks for watching, Greg!

Seems like it plains off fine with the tank up front. What's up with the crazy rooster tail?

It planes off OK with 20hp pushing it, but handling is not very good. There is a fine line between planing and porpoising and turning feels more like a drift than a turn. Sitting in the center, it handles like a go kart. The crazy rooster tail happens mostly when I am letting off the throttle and turning. The motor sits a little low in the water which makes it worse. I have a 7/8" spacer under the transom clamp on my other P-12 and that pretty much eliminated the crazy roost. Thanks for watching!

What do you think about these 20hp models? Would you ever use one for personal use ?

This 20hp is one of a few that I have and use. I love the 22c.i. OMC motors from the '57 18hp trough the end of the run. The 18hp, 20hp, and the 25s are all great. For all-around use I prefer the 18s and 20s due to their ability to idle better for longer than the 25s, but they're all great. To answer your question directly, yes, I would and do use one of these motors for regular personal use. Thanks for watching!
