I've avoided watching any Anthony Bourdain videos since he passed away in 2018 because it hurt me how he went, but it's nice to see him again. Kinda like that cool uncle who'd give you a pack of smokes. RIP Tony.
Oh boy do we all miss Anthony Bourdain!!!!! What a brilliant and interesting Chef. I loved the way he just Strode along and always looked so comfortable and confident in where he was going. Such a treasure still missed. Watching ReRuns is great. But I always know I’ll think, damn he’s dead!
I miss him so much. I know he saw such siffering and darkness, and that had to have taken a tole on his soul. He found the light in every dark corner. Rest in peace sir😢🌌
Anthony was as real as they come. Like many of us he had demons. RIP GOAT I would say Vietnam may be the best place to live the rest of my life when I retired
If I recall, he stated Tokyo as his “one place” in the early years of his fame but cited a change to Vietnam in later years. IMHO, both are great food choices….
Yeah, my japanese ex-girlfriend got flavor in meals she'd prepare without using excessive butter, oils, salt, spices, or even shoyu, It was mind-bending ❤
Hands down! I was so impressed with Japanese food. Savoured all the tastes while visiting and they were all good. One of the best countries in the world, if you ask me. Wish I had an opportunity to live there. I don’t think I would’ve thought of ever leaving. One other country left such a mark on me. Guess which one.
There is so much to see and explore. A very proud culture that is honest and proud of its history. One of my favourite places in the world. Which country?
I beg to differ, all respect to my idol Anthony. But Mexico is the place to live for food, Japan I understand the simplicity of the food or ingredients they use to make there food so good. I’m not trying to be biased because I’m Mexican but Mexico doesn’t have anyone close to there gastronomía.
Mexico is top 6 surely. Japan does the simple things incredibly well though -- rice, seafood, and beef of the highest quality. My top 6 below in no particular order: Japan Mexico Spain Thailand Chinese Greek Many will argue Italy is top 6 but I disagree -- I've spent 6 month combined in Italy visits and pizza and pastas get old very quickly -- Florentine steak is very good, but lots of countries do good steak. French, American, Brazilian, Argentine all does good steak. Italy is the most popular cuisine but it is not the best or most complex. Honorable mention: Peruvian Lebanese Indian
The point was that Chefs from around the world who dedicate their lives into their palette shared the same answer to the question. The point being Japanese food and how their chefs prepare their food is all based on the quality of their product, and how to use that to enhance the flavors. It makes perfect sense. I love Mexican food too though.
@@Originalman144 I like your list. I think I'd replace Greek with Italian or even French, only because I can't live without Pasta or bread. edit: and pizza
@@DisingenuousComment It’s almost impossible to make these list haha. Greeks make some amazing breads too 😋 do a quick google search for “Greek bread.” I truly think they have everything the French do on the bread side plus more. There’s also a French pizza (they don’t call it pizza but it’s the same thing) down in the Strasbourg region- it’s called Alsatian Tarte Flambe. It was tasty. The Greeks also make a pretty decent pizza. Though usually on focaccia bread or in a slightly deep dish style.
BS! The food in Tokyo isnt humbling. Its good but not markedly better than many other places. The only difference is it pays EXTREMELY well to be a cook in Tokyo, because their upper class eat out for every meal. You can make bank off cooking the same steak dinner for 20 or so high level salary men every night

No way. Copies are never better than the original.
