Friends, it's so nice to be back!! And I wanted to apologize that it took so long to upload this reaction. I filmed it about a week ago, but with the mix of jet lag and it being a very very busy work week for me, I didn't have the time or energy to edit it until now. Appreciate your patience so much!! ❤
Agree with your comment there on the emotional delivery. They have always been emotional singers, and quite vulnerable in their approach to songs. Just that its harder to pick up on that when its in Korean (and we don't speak Korean)
fun fact: Eyes Roll was fully written by Meghan Trainor!! part of her production team also helped producing the song so it sounds very similar to her recent discography
Since Minnie was alone at the end, and because of what it shows in the video, people are speculating that he killed the other girls, they’re his exes… they perhaps tried to kill him as well but backed down, as you can see they are shaking a lot when they point the gun at him, but Minnie avenged them by finally killing him. I saw people saying “oh he’s not really dead” but I don’t understand that theory at all. I think this video sheds light on the domestic violence issue in Korea (and everywhere, but it’s not as spoken about/taken seriously in Korea). I saw people kind of confused and even a little upset that the lyrics don’t match such a serious topic shown in the video, but I would disagree. I think to have such an upbeat song could be a metaphor for how things can look nice on the outside but interpersonally it’s a lot darker than anyone else knows. You could also argue that it kind of skips time or just showcases contradicting feelings, since the prechorus talks about wanting the other person to fall and cry, saying my name (to me, reminds me of someone begging) or nothing at all (dead?), but the other lyrics are fun and materialistic in a sense. I think this is done on purpose. A woman (or anyone) can want all of those things, extravagance, wealth, elegance, but that also doesn’t mean it’s her fault for wanting that and then ending up in a bad situation. To me, it speaks to “oh she was greedy, she got herself in this mess”.
The vice president of 88rising, John Yang, complimented (G)I-DLE by talking about his first encounter with the girls. They were contagiously excited and positive, which he hasn’t experienced before, and this naturally made him enthusiastic about what they can bring to the table through this collaboration. He was especially appreciative of the group’s 24-year-old leader and song producer, Jeon Soyeon. Yang said to Billboard, “Soyeon knows what she wants and thinks of every member in so much detail for every song from the delivery of the vocal to the tone and the overall cadence of the song-she truly is a genius.”
Yuqi and Minnie are fluent in a few languages and one of them is english, Soyeon and Miyeon have sung in english before for some international projects, I think the biggest challenge was for Shuhua who has never sung that much in another language (apart from Korean, Chinese and Japanese)
SO much flex and sass. Shiny! =) FOr me, the thing about this album, is how they're able to harmonize and roll their voices back and forth. They're a group and can show that they are a great vocal talent together, not just individually.
When you assumed Eyes Roll was gonna be a sarcastic, sassy kind of song after the seriousness of I Want That, I only barely managed to not audibly go "oh, honey..." like you had NO IDEA what you were in for with that one 😂😂 Sidenote: Yuqi's final line in that song is just- I- I need to know if "Five-O" means what I think it means cuz 🥵
@summermeitei1071 To be fair, the box didn't really promote it that well. It was a rush job made just before Tomboy came out, so I understand how it can be overlooked sometimes. But Miyeon did her best, and the songs are fantastic 😄
@@PiaChanx you're right, even I as a new Neverland was ignoring her album for so long. I was so pleasantly surprised when I finally listened to her full mini album though. It's so good!
please check out her album!@@laurenclaire it highlights some of the points you made through the video about Miyeon's voice! her tone is just perfect for certain songs, it hits so... softly (? hope you'll react to it in the future! :)
I think all five songs in this album are just like them individually in GIDLE… every single one is just great uniquely and as a group they just shine even brighter…together
I love your commentary so much! I feel like you always have something good to point out and your remarks are always grounded and centered to the group you're reacting to. This was not the exception, I really agree about Miyeon being such a moodsetter with her powerful voice, yet really femenine and melodic when needed (specially in the bridges), and Soyeon's full potential shown through her singing that also helped to let the other girls shine with their very specifc parts. They truly know their strengths and use them beautifully :'D Such a great job with their first international album :') hopefully next one you'll get a Soyeon photocard!
Great reactions! Thanks. All songs were amazing especially their vocals shined so much in this album. The album unboxing was cute. Hope you get a Soyeon PC soon! While in Korea, you could have tried getting Soyeon's album, Windy, which is rare and expensive outside Korea.
The main theory of the I Want That MV, the guy dated and k1lled four of them according to the places they're in, almost as ghosts (Miyeon: drowned, Shuhua: car accident, Yuqi: thrown down the stairs and/or burned, Soyeon: domestic violence, probably choked) and Minnie as she's about to marry him has a sort of awakening and avenges herself and the other girls. So they're all together, but in the end Minnie is the only surviving one.
Lol I’m American and everyone i know usually call freeze pops Otter Pops, even if you’re not eating an Otter Pop brand. It’s kind of like calling all tissues Kleenex haha

miyeon’s voice in this album just blew my mind like she sounds SO mature and intense

The whole album was written by her was it not? Well it was a collab ig
Minnie did that "siren" note 🧜🏻♀️
Since Minnie was alone at the end, and because of what it shows in the video, people are speculating that he killed the other girls, they’re his exes… they perhaps tried to kill him as well but backed down, as you can see they are shaking a lot when they point the gun at him, but Minnie avenged them by finally killing him. also everyone seems to miss the spot of blood on her dress at the end, hardley a result of a dream or imagination, I agree with your theory
This is such a great theory and so well put!!

totally agreed. Shuhua is not good at English.
Yea she improved so much in this album
The whole album was a journey and I loved it
I really hope you will react to Soojin’s solo which will be released on November 8th.

Yes I will definitely react to that once I've heard all the songs they perform in it!!
SO much flex and sass. Shiny! =) FOr me, the thing about this album, is how they're able to harmonize and roll their voices back and forth. They're a group and can show that they are a great vocal talent together, not just individually.

I would have loved to get Windy! I think I went to at least 5 different K-pop stores lol and didn't see it anywhere 😢
