The sky is fiery red. It was wonderful. I want to see it again if possible. But I know it doesn't happen. Still, when I close my eyes, I feel like I'm sitting on the beach watching the sunset. makes me really miss my dad. he used to play that song and many more. would sit for hours and listen to him play. he played in a Hawaiian band before I was born. he played steel guitar. wish I could remember the names of all the songs he played. thank you. this sounds just like him.
Same here Linda, my dad played lap steel back in the 50's and loved the hawaiian songs. I still have his 1937 Gibson guitar and have learned to play some myself. I've heard him play this song many times when I was growing up.

45 years ago I had a job working on a planar chain in Elko BC in winter -35 degrees bellow , I would walk more than a mile to the bus to go work ....once or twice ... I would get to the stairs of the bus and I just can' t. Do this and would walk home and listen to Hawaiian music...I ended up living in australia close to some of the most spectacular beaches on earth and I still love this musiv

@Fulperformance Learned to sing this song in the fifth grade.. in The Territory of Hawai'i.. Our class sang it AT the Royal Palace, for the Governor.... in Hawaiian.. and we did it perfectly!! One of many High Points in my life!
I finally found this song ! In 2007 I was in at the Mai Tai Bar Royal Hawaiian Hotel with this tune ringing in my head. Looking down the beach at Diamond Head thinking of all the movies I had seen over the years that were filmed here. It was this song, "Aloha Oe" that I kept hearing in my mind, but no one around had a clue what I was talking about. It was if "IZ" had replaced everything before him. Don't get me wrong. I liked IZ's music, but not to the exclusion of all other Hawaiian classics. Thanks for posting !!!!
