Amazon is a slowly sinking ship, so they can't get away with hiking fees. TEMU is killing Amazon. Walmart+ has a lot of customers now. eBay continues to be hot garbage. Not to mention the ecommerce market in general isn't as strong as it was during COVID. For me, sales have been bad since they implemented all the new fees in June (low inventory/placement). Also I really hate their new distribution system. I'll have orders of 300 pieces and they will ship them to 70 different distribution centers.
And just to add on TEMU. I placed an order for $26 on TEMU that would have cost me about $73 on Amazon. Same exact Chinese garbage basically. Most of the difference, $47, is going into fees and shipping charges to ship each item individually. Meanwhile TEMU can just pack everything altogether and offers lower fees. Most reasonable people are willing to wait a week to save $50. And frankly TEMU offers better customer service and easier refunds than Amazon.
And I just tried out Amazon Haul as a shopper, which I expect will flop catastrophically. Higher prices, lower selection, higher shipping minimum than TEMU, with a worse search experience. Notice how they aren't integrating Haul directly into Amazon, because they know it would cannibalize their core FBA model.
Amazon says no fee hikes for 2025! What do you think? Are they serious, or will we see changes after Q1?
Noah is the goat!
He is 💪
It’s the Temu and Shein effect. They’re too large to ignore now. People love Temu now more than Amazon.
