It's a nice rifle. I just don't feel it's worth the price personally. Great review Rick. Hope you're doing well brother.

I love this rifle. I would use the 18gr 22cal and be overjoyed.
I have no problem with the power adjuster. Numerous people have reported great experience with this rifle.
    Thanks brother 👍🇺🇸

Rick, your videos are always really low in volume. Think you could boost them in the future?

I just began tuning my gunnar .25 yesterday. Pellet of choice being the FX 33.95, stock was getting 47.05 FPE. After trying the compressor testor used in this video I saw an increase of less than 1 FPE. I had a collection of washers around (1 being 3mm thick and the other being 1.3mm thick). After many hours of testing all combos, 2 of the 1.3mm washers ahead of the spring got me to 49.59 FPE. In the next few days weather permitting, I'll work on the regulator tuning.

Hey there.. Definitely do some work on the regulator. Let us know how it goes.

@@AirGunWeb Set the regulator to 2400 PSI which the factory set to 1900 PSI. A little less than a half turn cc gave me 2400PSI and that was a suit spot for me. I normally fill to 3100 or 3200 PSI so that's what I did throughout tuning. This setup gave me 820 velocity with the 34 grin FX but this didn't meet my 55FPE goal so I worked on the hammerspring again bumping it to 4 washers for a width of 8.6mm total. This brought me to 868 velocity and 56.89FPE with the FX 34 grain.
JSB king heavy 33.95 grain MKII shot 873.8 velocity for 57.46FPE.
Hades 26.54 shot 950.6 transonic for a 53.19FPE and switching to level 3 on the selector gave me 884 velocity and 46.06FPE for subsonic.
      JSB king 25.39 45.67FPE
Shot count with the FX 34 grain was 30 shots to 2200PSI which is under the regulated pressure but out to 75 yards I saw no negative change at all in accuracy. The last 5 shous were under the 2400 reg setting so 25 shots between 31/3200 down to 2400PSI with the FX 34 grain.
I'd like to note that the town range in S. Utah where I am in in canyons and the cross winds today were over 10MPH and from 3 directions ad while not ideal, I saw no decrease in accuracy at all. In fact, the MKII's were more accurate than they were when I tested them a few weeks ago.
With the 10MPH cross winds in the canyons where my range is anything more than 50 yards today was difficult and luck - good luck, but luck. I have no doubt I could get to 60FPE but I am happy with what I have and the shot count I'm getting. If I had to play more, I would increase the washers used ahead of the hammerspring by another 2 or 3MM to get there. An adjustable hammer spring kit for the gunnar would be nice.
By the way, getting that spring, weight, and the washers back together is a challenge - hope you have strong thumbs!

@AirGunWeb i just received an email response on the gunnar from benjamin saying the gunnar is "now obsolete". I had asked about it since they removed it from their website last month. So that's also the reason for the huge price decrease.

@@ronmiller7248- it will be interesting to see what happens now that Gamo / Daisy have acquired Crosman and Benjamin. Maybe they can bring it back better. One can dream.

@AirGunWeb i am just bummer. Im hitting and i mean 8 or better out of ten dimes at both 50 and 75 yards now. Got tired of targets and started gluing dimes to cardboard. And at 164 yards I'm dead center on clays. Best i and the gun can do. Not sure about how i feel having a gun i wont b able to get parts for.

Hi Rick, I got my Gunnar .25 today and decided to modify it right away. First thing I did was degas it and adjust the regulator to increase the pressure. To do that I turned the adjustment screw counter clockwise 1/2 turn. This increased the regulator pressure to 2600 PSI. Obviously a big jump. I then shot through my chronograph and was getting wild swings in FPS of 15 to 25. My assumption was that the hammer spring now needed more force. I then removed the hammer spring and machined a weight similar to what you showed here but with a nice 1/2" long shank slip fit in the spring and a nice head 1/4" long slip fit into the spring housing. I filled the Gunnar back up to 3K psi and took a series of shots. I used 24.7 grain Vortex strike pellets and was getting about 950 fps with a max spread of about 4 fps. ! That calculates to about 50 foot pounds of energy. Using this much air of course reduces shot count. I believe I can get about 20 full power shots now. I'm still waiting on the scope I intend to use and is should be here by the weekend. I will then get it on paper and see what she can do. Thanks again Rick! Dave

Dunno. I liked this model from the first time I saw it. But apparently it is quite high priced and not offering enough of worth the money - which is kinda sad to read about..

The last 5 years every 25cal pcp should be now out the box 60fpe 40-50+ shots....Benjamin should have been having the marauder 25cal @60fpe the 22cal 45fpe, the bulldog should have been in another stock & different calibers from 25-50 ...bring the Benjamin rogue 35cal back out all REGULATED Benjamin, no excuses......

Not backyard friendly but you don't want to be at the business end of this BIG DOG!

I want to like this gun so bad. It's got a bottle, sort of looks like a maverick, expensive but it might go down if sales aren't great.
But I'm getting 34 grains at like 920-930 fps with my modded G1. And I've seen some videos where accuracy wasn't real great.
I think Im going 30 cal G2 for the next gun. Hard pass on the Gunnar

  • @kurtfirestone2761

The speed consistency is there but the accuracy is not for a gun of that price it should shoot a lot better groups than that. The gun is far overpriced for its ability.
