I like Prizm better because of the chrome finish. Hoops has some cool inserts but between the two: Prizm it is for me

I always advise my friends who are new to the hobby to buy Hoops or Donruss, because there's a good chance they get their favorite player and after that they can decide what to buy next. Most importantly I don't want them to experience their first disappointment from a product I told them to buy.
