Tago is the exemple of what happen when a genius just takes it easy: it reaches the top of the world but never quite manage to be the best. He had potential to be a generational talent
Him and Koo Kien Keat remind of one another. Badminton geniuses that took it too easy compared to their peers. The likes of Momota, Lin Dan, An Se Young, Lee Yong Dae are geniuses that obviously worked just as hard as their natural talent and ability to know the game.
@@joelin5887 maybe when Momota was still young, but eventually Momota grew past Tago, because Tago never worked on his physicality. It’s why he has like 9 super series finals and no title. He was always too tired in the final. How many does Momota have? How many World Championship medals?
@@lincolnfineblanket1464 And Momota retired in an era where no players could smash like LD or even Tago. It's just a different era of badminton, in which boring matches were won by stamina.
@@joelin5887 When Momota was at his best 2017-2019 and dominating the circuit there were many powerful smashers. Viktor Axelsen, Anthony Ginting, Jonatan Christie, Kidambi Srikanth, H.S Prannoy, Shi Yuqi, these were all MS who could put the shuttle on the floor with power, skill and accuracy. They were all around during Momota’s peak. Yet only one of them has world records and looked (almost) as invincible as 2008 LD. Go watch Momota’s 2018-2019 match highlights from a good angle, the man is undoubtedly an all time great (go read his Wikipedia page). Tago is one of my personal favourites but he is not an all time great, great in how own right though.

Tago confident talent and touch is unreal for a 21y, what a pity to see his promising career ends to stupidly. In some ways He reminds me a lot Taufik style but with even more variety. The thing I love the most about his style is his movement. He def had number1 ranking potential.
Kenichi Tago is perhaps the best single badminton player that Japan had ever produced. He is very classy, deep in his attacks, played deft net play and can execute difficult cross court smash as he displayed in this match. But shout out to LCW.
TagoKen was born in a wrong generation. He had to face prime LCW and LD. Even a 35+ year PG is still strong at that time. Poor guy, he should at least has one a S Tier Super Series
This win is totally ruined by footage indicating a poor line judge call. Hawkeye is unnecessary. With the camera coverage, they should be using replays to overrule calls. No sense in ignoring it. It would serve for more reliable and valid scoring. Basically this title is completely garbage.
What rise do u mean? Ur best MD already missing since the olympic, so does ur MS. ur WS also doesnt win for quite a while now. While ur WD,XD already down at the bottom 😂
Tago was the first Japanese to reach this level at that time. He is the pioneer.

@@lincolnfineblanket1464no offence Momota cannot be compared with Tago. Tago was on a much higher league ability wise

That LCW shirt during that time is so funny to look at. One sided sleeveless 😂
And he continously winning , accept when he met LD the stage was like fire 🔥
Lcw has a graceful play which no one can match until now

Pity for Tago but luck never goes to the wrong address. 😂
elite reference
Tago is in wrong decades..
what a great match
Yall need to understand. The despair we had in 2008-2012era.he was world number one for 4 years straight and literally zero big title

Hahaha … 😂😂😂
Kento momota is the best mens singles player produced by Japan.(NOT discrediting Tago).
Kenichi tago was better than momota, the only difference they had was that momota put in more work and had more passion towards the sport
It was out..but that's destiny
Kenichi Tago looks kinda like Kodai
well kodai plays passively while tago played aggresive based on my opinion
Kodai doesn’t attack, Tago was one of the hardest hitters of his generation
He is Kodai's dad after all
Tago is much more agressive.
Tago so fat now..
Somehow bao chun lai help him eliminated lin dan for it

No way the shuttle speed is 2xx kph
Tago muncul diera yg salah...dimana era ini muncul nama2 besar dlm sukan badminton
So what happened to Tago?
He got fat and looks like he's coaching. Check out his channel Tagoken
CW is lucky.

It’s in no need hawk eye for that.
Looks like Tago's ancestors missed 2 million years of evolution.

This comment says a lot more about you than Tago.
