And I feel like your Hoya are so beautiful and I do understand propagating them, when I have propagated some of my Hoya they root up pretty quick and then I can pop them back into the main pot and make a fuller plant which is so great. I'm also trying to be more consistent with my plant care. I had an epiphany with my hoyas recently when I realized that I've had some of them for a few years with almost no growth. Some of them died, too, and they weren't any that are considered difficult. I was so afraid of over watering them that I was drastically underwatering them. And, yes, I was taking advantage of their hardiness to put off taking care of them. I think their roots were dying during the dry spells and then rotting once they were finally watered. Now I check them more often and water when the leaves just start to get a little soft, and I'm already being rewarded with growth.
I’ve had a handful of Hoyas that wouldn’t do anything for over a year🥺. Then I heard about flat mites (but aren’t they not visible to the naked eye?). I decided to take a little flashlight and poke a stick around the soil to examine in closer detail. The slow growing hoya had the tiniest looking gnats(??) randomly crawling in the soil. I washed off the hoya very well and repotted them into fresh soil. A month later they seem to be perking up🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♀️!
I use sulfur for my Hoya's and it doesn't smell at all & I have very sensitive scent issues. What it does is kill the flat mites & make my Hoya grow. I hope you try it cause it works. Love your videos! Thanks for sharing!
It smells like rotten eggs 🤮 plus there's no data to show that's the ONLY way to kill flat mites. There's actually no data at all that even shows it's effective 🤷🏻♀️

Apparently it like turns off the plants awareness to pest tricking the plant into growing again. Definitely not sure about what information to believe just wanted to share what I found while researching.
I've heard the same things! I'm never one to jump onto trends, I'm more of a sit and wait and observe kinda gal lol. So we will see. It's a very new and sudden thing. There has to be other ways to deal with this pest that's existed for longer than the sulfur treatment trend lol.
Look into parafin oil based solution to get rid of flat mites/red mites. MissOrchidGirl has a video about it and it worked for my Hoyas. It doesn't smell and is pretty safe since you have pets also!

They're microscopic, yes! But I don't believe only Sulphur will kill them. I'll find another way as you have! ☺

Jacklyn i realize when ma hoya is not growing i dip them in a warm bath becouse i know is flat mite and a week later new growth start coming out
