Even with awful gear (In my case), Archer Artificier is one, if not, the most OP class for slaying dragons. I remember using Varric at lvl 19, and he slayed the Dragon before the rest of the team could get to it.
Been using this for my first ever nightmare difficulty run on DAI, and wow, it absolutely MELTS any enemy you throw it at. Like you noted, the main problem I'm running into is casters, but that's easy enough to fix with stealth. Great guide, thanks!
If you want to raise your survivability you need toxic cloud with lost in the mist upgrade. It provides elusives and can be stacked up to 3, so just bath in it constantly and you don't have to worry about being hit. Honestly, the sabotage tree makes any rogue broken. It completely eliminates the use of barrier for me, I just went full on melee with my team. Cassandra, Vivienne, DW Sera, and my dual dagger artificer inquisitor just breezed through Jaws of Hakkon without taking any damage. Both Sera and I have Toxic Cloud as favorites in the tactics.
I found it wasn’t needed at all using that ammy though I did go straight to that skill u til I got the barrier ammy then Respec out of it for more points
I've also gone ahead and tested your bow vs the enaste bow(exploding arrows). when comparing i found the main difference is 12 dexterity, this equates to 12% more crit dmg but 6% less atk. your bow also doesnt have exploding arrows, which nerfs extra dmg per shot. this is using your bow with the "wrapped longbow grip", if you were to ditch the dex and instead commit to crit dmg, you could instead gain 27% more crit dmg totaling to 63%(via the "thick Longbow Grip"), but lose out on 18% atk.
I'll need to check this out!! I think if i remember right I was already very close to crit damage cap at 190% but I could be wrong. I couldnt get away with explodes masterwork because the archer needed that guard on hit
@@dailydistraction3793 i dont mean explodes master work, the elgar'nan enaste bow, its specialty is explosive arrows, this is not a masterwork but a part of the bow itself. you can still have your guard on hit masterwork implemented.
Didn't have same armor instead went with superior prowler armor instead with prowler arms and hunter coat leg and got as close to what u had but lil more on the crit damage bonus have it at 190 and crit chance 63 didn't have the most optimal materials like the ice dragon hide since so limited at 14 so i went with great bear hide and snowfleur skin
Great video. I know you are on to another build but something helpful is that Superior Prowler Armor with Prowler Armor Arms and Hunter Coats Legs has 23 utility slots. That's 1 more than the Superior Battlemage.
The armor has 4 leather util. slots (dexterity), 6 cloth util. slots (avvar cotton: dexterity), legs have 8 cloth util., and arms have 8 cloth util.. This ammounts to 26 utility slots for the superior battlemage armor.

Not really atm for tempest and assassins though I do plan on it at some point. I live dragon age but I do take breaks then come back strong with a new build. Spacing it out enough to keep me busy until dragon age 4 :)

so i did the math for the armor light vs medium. base, no upgrade slots, its only 1 dex more(actually only .5 more but game rounds up). with upgrade slots, its still only 1 dex more. and in return you lose out on 44 armor. Am i missing something? using "superior battlemage armor" with "battlemage armor arms, and legs" vs "superior prowler armor" with "prowler armor arms and hunter coat legs"
When I made the first prowler armor with full upgrades and compared I'm pretty sure it was only 36 dex. I didnt really need the armor because if you have bubble from either the necklace or guard your armor doesnt matter anymore. I really like the theory crafting so please if you have any more ideas I'm always game to make these even stronger. Also check out the duel wield version which does even more damage with out focus dumps
@@dailydistraction3793 i just tripple checked, using hunter coat legs, with prowler armor arms upgrades with superior prowler armor is only .5 less dexterity but 44 more armor than the superior battlemage armor and its upgrade slots. The defenses do change though, you can get more max health on the medium armor with some range or melee defense, but lose out on the magic defense. something else to know is that health is what your total guard is. more health = more guard. Also, health and guard apply to all dmg types, where as the others apply to only the specific types. to be fair though, more health is almost always better than defense due to numbers game. a spell does 100 dmg, you have 16% defense, spell now does 84 dmg, so only save 16 health. if add health, spell does full 100 dmg but you get bonus +128 health(32 guard), you save 28 health(60 if using guard). Numbers change as the dmg hurts more though. 1000 dmg vs 16% =840 dmg now, thats 160 saved vs 32(0 if using guard) health lost. Sorry for the long read lol. hope it helps.
i think im missing something even more how are you getting dex on battlemage armor, even with all upgrades it only has 4 leather utility slots, the rest are cloth
Hey man, PS4 here. So even if I use the Dales wool, or even the arms/legs corresponding to your video which are the battle-mage pieces, I still don't get to choose Dex as affixes. For light armor all I get is Magic/power will unlike the pieces/armor on the medium sets...So like...what gives? Neither of the 3 slots allows me to add Dex whether or not the Dales are used. Another thing as well is that even if I use the medium set, as high as I can get is 30 Dex including the arms/pants...Are there like "special" ingredients I'm missing or something? I'm lvl 20 as well.
Dragon mats give the biggest bonus along with great bear hide. I dont know if dales wool maybe is bugged in the latest version of the game? Pc is usally more patched then console for some reason? can anyone else confirm this?
Nice guide, nice build, love it. Just one thing that's kinda driving me nuts here is how the hell do you get your weapon damage up to 244, i can't get it past 198 and i don't know what i'm missing
Might sound like a silly question but is your weapon crafted from Tier 4 materials? Tier 4 mats in the top slot (without counting masterwork) are what gives your weapon it’s main damage stat.
any idea why does my elemental mines fly off whenever i used them?as far as I know kitty collar was the problem.i unequipped and also destroyed it but the problem persists 😭
@@dailydistraction3793 I used to have this problem where the elemental mines would just fly off instead of landing on to the ground if i wore Kitty’s Collar. All I had to do was unequip it and itll be fine, but on my recent playthrough, the mines would fly off regardless whether i equipped it or not. Not sure what is happening
@@Irockthesky weird. I didn’t have this problem at all but I didn’t have any more perks on mines beyond the base because I didn’t want to get caught with no stam. At some point I’ll try to replicate the bug though
Meanwhile, I'm playing a 2h reaver and totally getting stomped by Red Templar on normal while Legolas over here is curbstomping the game like its on easy.
It's not possible without modding or duplicating the ice dragon hides, I already got 211% crit damage, 74% crit chance, and 97% attack another way tho so don't worry about it.
Been trying the game many times and always get stuck in Hinterlands. This time I started a mage and wanted to make him a Knight Enchanter. He is lvl 10 atm but you have made me want to play a female elf archer instead. This looks insanely fun! I am assuming that both those classes can dominate on the story difficulty though? Do we know that the master focus belt actually works? In-game it shows the item giving 0 focus gain, so most online DA:I resources that I use state to not use it for that reason.
@@dailydistraction3793 so the stat page is a glitch and the master belt of focus does in fact work as intended? Cause I've always used the next highest tier - superb belt(?) - or whatever instead.
What is the real armor type you using? It can't be superior battlemage armor, because it has a utility slot for cloth, and every utility on cloth I know is either +magic or +willpower, which is both useless on rogue. And you don't even have any of those stat on your crafted armor. Thanks
It would be on a mage but for any other class the extra base damage isn’t that good compared to base stat. On a mage the damage from staves is terrible so quinari is best in slot. See my rift mage guide :)

tbh all classes in this game are broken af but my personal favorite are: 1. Reaver - Basically immortal if you have the right gear and skills 2. Rift mage - Insane CC combined with already insane aoe skills from elemental trees 3. Assasin - "No withnesses" 4. Templar - Kinda sux in bosses compared to the others but one-shots every group that comes in your range
have you done the quest for it yet? after you get to skyhold you can unlock a spec. there is a lot to it so I would google how to become Artificer in your case

I had that problem when I upgrade it to throw everything, but it doesn't do it all the time. I think the ability is just buggy in general.

It’s only 1 skill point so doesn’t make that big of a difference
You could also just use the duplication glitch on the amulet to give you an extra skill point

every class can easy :) my advice is get 8 powers then go back to haven. they dont make it obv but thats all you need to do to get out of hinterlands

Woah amazing archer build, but how do you increase your maximum focus? i though its just in the trespasser DLC, Did I miss something?
you can by increasing your inquisitor level at the battle table. its advanced focus ect
focus is not needed with this build it all its just for pure cheese. check out some of the other builds too :)
How do you have Agile legs and arms? Battlemage is cloth/cloth not leather/cloth. Is there a way of adding dex or cunning in a cloth slot?
yes there is a cloth item that gives dex. I forget the name of it off top of my head though

Kinda late, but Avaar cotton gives dexterity for cloth utility.

Im having a hard time figuring out what materials you used to get +47 dex on your armor, could you list it?

So is the build really that good, or do higher difficulties "make" you do more damage. My end of game character only did at most 100 dmg per hit.

yes. it starts off rough but by level 12 its not so bad. It makes you think how you approach random fights a lot more then you would normally.

have you done the quest for it yet? after you get to skyhold you can unlock a spec. there is a lot to it so I would google how to become Artificer in your case

What did you use for a helmet
Was just a crafted decision helm that I found to have the biggest damage increase. We had more then enough crit already

I dont know why ur cd skill load too fast that u can spam ur skill ? . It has 12s cd right but u play like its only 2s cd
It’s a passive in the artificer tree that lowers cd every time your crit ;)

@@aoquagame4200 its from you as well as ally. thats why on artificer you stack crit chance as high as possible. watch the whole video and I'll explain how to do this :)
