Good choice of vhf. Waterproof and quality made in Japan. Great little units.

I hope your travels improve and you manage to salvage the data from your laptop. Fair winds and following seas my friend!!

Wow Mark...We have followed you from the beginning of your journey. Gut wrenching to have had that happen but as you so often say, Reverse the Bad. What's done is done so all you can do is salvage what you can and move forward. Your journey is epic and the good people you have met make it so worthwhile. Keep paddling my friend and remember, there are more amazing folks yet to meet.
    Cheers from Canada

You soaked your laptop twice... don't you store it in a dry bag? Then how does it keep getting wet?

Yep Twice. Even though they were in dry bags, they didn't survive...strange but true.

I am assuming that since you have not posted an update in several weeks now, the news was not good about salvaging your laptop. I take it that you decided not to continue on with your trip. Even though your trip has ended just shy of making NYC, what you accomplished on this journey has been quite an achievement. Take care and all the best to you as you head back home.

I figured that something not good had happened since you missed posting an episode last week. Having the hatch come off the compartment with such important electronic gear really sucked big time. It does look like you've been able to pick up the pieces of this incident. It's so heartening that so many people have materialized at the right time to provide you what you need at the time you need it. I'm now watching videos about people doing hiking pilgrimages along the various routes of the Camino de Santiago de Compostela in Spain. The route most often taken is The Camino de Frances from St. Jean du Pied a Port in France, a trek of roughly 500km, to Santiago with the trip taking from 30 to 35 days. On the Camino, it seems to be like what you are experiencing with how people show up to meet them when they most need help and companionship. It seems that you are on your own Camino. I hope the folks at that computer company will be able to recover most if not all of your raw data. May God be with you as you make your way through New York harbor. I also watch vids of folks doing the Great Loop in significant sized powerboats and New York harbor, just due to things like the constant ferry traffic, can make it one hairy trip. My final comment to you, since I think you are on your own singular Camino, people who do the real one in Spain, greet each other along the trails thusly, BUEN CAMINO! I say to you, keep going on this trip and BUEN CAMINO!
