I went to see Dr Feelgood in 1990 with a mate who was obsessed with them. He said he knew them. Bullshit we thought. Sat in a hotel bar before the gig, Brilleaux walks in looks at us, says to my mate “alright Baz. Anyone want a pint.” Gig was amazing and I’ve been obsessed ever since. He was a class act through and through

Saw them playing at a pub in Liverpool, can't remember the name, across from St Georges hall. Walked in and there's Lee Brilleaux at the bar. Buys us both a pint and chattin' away to us, whilst he's rolling a fag with one hand. Sparky Mayo was playing then. Great night

It's amazing how well Lee was able to perform here. He was extremely ill and died only few months later. RIP legend.

I know ! It must have taken such supreme effort, he couldn't literally (bodily) afford to do that, but he did, as he appreciated the fans & I feel that he always treated them with respect. He was a gentleman, probably brought up in the traditional working class way, (back then, at least? ), which mean't emphasis on having good manners, etc. Lee's early death was a tragedy & I often wonder what he would be doing now if he had lived ? How would he have spent the intervening years ? I am sure he would have been performing regularly, because as a "live" act, he & the band couldn't be beaten. RIP, Lee x

Those of us who were blessed to see and enjoy this man should be pleased it was so. Whilst I was in The Count Bishops we gigged with the Doctor quite a few times and of course got to know Lee. No-one lives forever and we all know our own time will come, meanwhile let's enjoy what we have and celebrate the times we lived in and the great artists we witnessed. Bless you Lee, I enjoyed your company and miss you now you're gone.

So sad...my mate came to tell me that he had died and we went to Canvey island that night just to pay our respects. I'm not ashamed to say that I cried. The line up with Wilko was the greatest band of all time.

Saw The Feelgoods many times over the years. The only time me and a mate got backstage, we were in awe of Lee. He sensed we were nervous to meet him and treated us like mates, laughing and joking and giving us beers. A wonderful musician, performer and man.

I cried my eyes out like a baby when I heard about Lee. I still miss him although it was, what, 21 years ago? True, I had met him and still have his silk tie which has a five-pence coin inserted to stop it from swerving all over the place. I only wear it on special occasions.

Lee was so special. I talked to him in an Radio Show for a local Radio station. It was i think in 1990. He and his band was supposed to play in Hagen Germany. We wanted to promote the gig. He was so kind to call me live in the Show from a telephone booth from the South of france. The very nice talking ended cause he said he ran out of money. And suddenly the Interview was over. Thnx for ever.

Just read the Lee Brilleaux biography. A superb read, and a reminder of how lucky I was to have seen Dr. Feelgood in their prime. I had to pinch myself to realise he was just into his 40's when he was taken. Great, great band, and a great, great frontman. RIP.

I've only had the pleasure of knowing about DR. Feelgood for a couple of years. They only released one album State side as far as I know and I don't know which one that was. Imo, they were a super club (pub) ban, second to no one. Plenty of characters in that group. I was sorry to hear of Lee's passing at such an early age. Regards from, New England ,US of A.

66, now, came across feelgood in local record shop in seventies, I was about 15, at the time, just trying all kinds of music genre's, prog rock and all stuff was to boring for me, feelgood changed that for me, got Lees book and what a life, I think I wasted most of mine, obviously never new the man but it would have been interesting to sit down and have a chat.
