Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart became very popular due to a very popular movie about him that came out about this time. And I’m a Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was quite the character back in the day, and the story in the movie revolves around another composer, his rival who hated him. He hated him for his talent his womanizing, his sense of humor, not the kind of behavior. One would expect from a time-honored composer who did his work in the mid 1700s too late 1700s. You have heard many of his compositions at least parts of them.
I LOVED the singer named FALCO. So, I looked for people reacting to this song. I found you! Thanks. This song, ROCK ME AMADEUS made it to #1 on the charts. It was filmed with the cast of the movie "Amadeus". It was a movie about MOZART. The famous composer of the late 1700's. ( His actual name was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) Mozart was so talented, he toured Europe, and played the piano at the tender age of 5. The extras that played all the parts of the people in Austria, at that period of time, were asked to come to be in the video. Falco was born in Austria and speaks German, Mozart was also born in Austria. I enjoyed how kind and how cool you treated this very important time of life, to many of us. This was made in about 1985. The way those people related to each other was all about that era of sexuality and close body contact. No one stared at a cell phone, they stared at each other. It showed how Falco felt very comfortable with the rough bikers, and how much they had his back and liked him, too. Here is the English translation to this hit song. It's about Mozart : 1st verse: He was a punk and he lived in the biggest city, it was in Vienna where he did everything, he had debts because he drank, but all the women loved him, and all of them shouted "come and rock me Amadeus". Welcome to earth, you marvel that international music is only in English, she even yawns. Anyway, this song was a worldwide hit, and you can't even begin to understand what disco nights were like in the 80s/90s when social relationships were real and people really had fun.
Chod & Dee - Do yourselves a favour and watch the movie 'Amadeus'. It had 18 Oscar nominations & won eight, so you can trust it is a good movie well-worth watching! It is a movie about Amadeus Mozart and it very effectively portrays him as like the first rock star. Falco's song plays on the same idea of Mozart as a rock star. The song came out after the movie. Do watch the movie and see how in Mozart's day, classical music was pop music. As someone not really into classical music the movie gave me a much greater appreciation of it.
Ooo rock me Amadeus Rock me Amadeus... Falco was originally Austrian, his songs are mostly sung in German, but he was never afraid to use English phrases, as is common today... But in the 80s, this guy was something special, he was something of a visionary, and in fact, he was the first rap singer in the history of pop music
Falco is definitely one to get used to especially with the German lyrics. There actually is an english extended version you might try that's different.
Falco was inspired by the success of the film "Amadeus" by Milos Forman, which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1984, and at the same time he paid tribute to his compatriot Wolfgang Amedus Mozart, perhaps the most famous composer along with Beethoven. . Watch the movie, it's worth it, its two main actors shared the nomination for Best Actor.
Falco was mixing German and English in all of his songs. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was the first child prodigy, wrote operas as a kid, was the first music superstar, and died at age 35 as probably the biggest musician in history.
The song is basically saying that classical composer Mozart was the musical superstar of his day. He was a child prodigy and was considered outlandish for the time
This is one that's going to make your head move. It's in German, so, I can't help you there. Check out the song "99 Red Baloon's" by NENA. It's in German, but I think there was a cover done in English. It's also very catchy, and you might have already heard it?
All about Mozart being the first ever rock star. Falco is Austrian so the song is in German. This was a world wide hit for the same reasons you are bobbing your heads it's catchy as hell. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was a genius and composed more than 800 works which is unbelievable when you realise he was only 35 when he died.
Or, another translation I found: [Intro] Rock me, rock me, rock me, rock me Rock me, Amadeus Do it, do it Ey Rock me all the time to the top [Part 1] He was a punk and lived in the big city It was in Vienna, in Vienna, where he did everything He had debts because he drank, but women all loved him anyway And everybody screamed: "Come and rock me Amadeus!" He was a superstar, he was popular He was exalted, because he had flair He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol And everybody screamed: "Come and rock me Amadeus!" [Hook] Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus Come and rock me Amadeus! Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus [Part 2] It was around 1780 and it was in Vienna No plastic money any more, the banks were against him Everyone knew where the debts came from He was a ladies' man, women loved his punk He was a superstar, he was popular He was too exalted, and that was his flair He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol And everybody's still screaming: "Come and rock me Amadeus!" [Hook] Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus Come and rock me Amadeus! Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus Come and rock me Amadeus! Come and rock me Amadeus! [Hook] Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus Oh, can't you rock me Amadeus? Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus [Outro] Amadeus, Amadeus! Amadeus, Amadeus! Come on, rock me Come and rock me to the top Amadeus Ama-, Ama-, Amadeus Now come and, now come and rock me, Amadeus Amadeus
Amadeus son Colin Mozart became a rat catcher. Falco had a huge number one single all over the world with this in 1986, but sadly passed away when his car collided with a bus in 1998.
Anyone who calls themself a musician but has never heard of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791 in Austria), one ofthe most influential and famous 18th century composers, should revoke their musician card. Hence why a bunch of people in the music video are wearing frockcoats and dresses and wigs, typical 18th century European upper class attire. Although their wigs historically weren't dyed blue and pink... Falco's line about Amadeus being the first punk rocker of his time explains the dyed hair. Seriously, it's easy to google "Falco" or "Amadeus". Have US-Americans really so little historical knowledge?
Falco was absolutely genius. One third of this song is German, one third Englisch and the last third are just noises you might make when you have a stroke. But he makes an absolute masterpiece out of it.
The two languages are closely linked. It shouldn't surprise us to hear 'English' words in 'German.' It doesn't surprise us to hear 'German' words in 'English,' (kindergarten, zeitgeist, iceberg, schadenfreude, angst, Neanderthal, wunderkind, uber, etc. etc.).
The lyrics are a hommage to the world famous classical Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his expensive lifestyle, which left him in constant debt. His lifestyle bounced back and forth between punk and rapper. (If you never heard his music, check him out, he left a ton of music that still inspires musicians today, many of his tunes have been sampled in modern music and the tune for "twinkle, twinkle, little star" is also taken from one of his pieces!)
There are more than one version of Rock Me Amadeus by Falco. This is not the #1 hit version released in the USA. Nor is it the extended 12 inch version. Falco was from Austria but is no longer with us. Try his hit called Vienna Calling and also his hit called Ker Kommissar. The single release for the USA is easier to listen to and the words are more clear. Hear the audio only version.
Many versions of this song .... basically Mozart was a 'music god' -so he's saying Mozart was celebrated in those days as to how we celebrate current rock stars. Austrian singer - died tragically but great artist and this song was huge all over the world. Was top of the US charts but slightly different version.
The Song is in German/Austrian .... You definetly have to hear "Out of the dark" and "Jeanny" Part 1 with Translation. It is a really unique Musician of the late 80*s and spring 90's like Rammstein in Industrial Metal today. Out of the dark were released after his dead and is a bit sad, because he were signed bei cocain abuse and life tragedys. Mutter, der Mann mit dem Koks ist da (mother, the cocain man is here), is another one and sound more techno like.
Guess the song is more fun if you can follow the german and english. When i hear this song it always reminds me to watch "Amadeus" the movie if you have not seen it you should even if its not 100% a true story it tries to somehow show what a genius he as and why he would be a rockstar today... Its fun to consider what some old artist would make today with the tools we have.
As a speaker two Germanic languages; I not only understand at least "the gist" of the lyrics; most reaction videos make me think of, how English, and other Germanic speach must sound to others.
It's tricky, with some English mixed in with German. Der Kommissar, has the original German (Deutsch) version, and an English version. I don't know if this has an English version.
It's pronounced Om-A-DAY-US, as in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This song was a huge hit (sung in German and English), but the version better known in the USA would probably be by the band: After The Fire (that one entirely in English).
There is an English version of this, but the German was more popular here in the US just like Nena's "99 Luft Balloons". What few English words you hear is because they don't translate in German. Falco was from Austria and very popular in Europe until his untimely death in a car accident. You really need to check out the movie "Amadeus".
Please watch the movie Amadeus. It is an artistic take on the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It may mke some of Falco's interpretation clearer. As mentioned in the comments earlier, there is an English version. Also try Falco's Der Kommisar. Deutsch and English versions exist. Alles Klar?
This was a huge hit song.......Number 1 in USA and Europe,....It's about Mozart and was sung in German and English by Austrian singer Falco.
I loved it at the time it came out. But if you never knew this it would a wtf moment 😂😂😂 there faces watching this 😂😂😂😂😂

Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh, oh, oh Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, oh, oh, oh Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus
Come on, rock me
Come and rock me to the top
Amadeus
Ama, Ama, Amadeus
Now come and, now come and rock me, Amadeus
Amadeus
Thanks, man..
Welcome to earth, you marvel that international music is only in English, she even yawns. Anyway, this song was a worldwide hit, and you can't even begin to understand what disco nights were like in the 80s/90s when social relationships were real and people really had fun.
Hahahahaha..Ya'lls faces are priceless!..Love it!
Mozart , in his day was a rock star in every sense of the word .
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an 18th century rock star who lived the life of one. The movie this is from highlights that aspect of him.
Use to love Der Kommissar, it was played all the time at my local arcade on the jukebox back in the 80s, still have the 45
Yes, Falco is singing in German (apart from the chorus), but with an Austrian accent.
R.I.P. Hans 'Falco' Hölzel...ich vermisse dich.
You have to listen his 'scandal song',.. "Jeannie". Awesome..
Greetings and Love from Germany 💚 again
Amadeus Mozart is one of the most famous classical composers ever .
Can’t believe you didn’t know the name Amadeus, essentially being in music.
Ooo rock me Amadeus
Rock me Amadeus...
Rock rock rock rock me Amadeus
Rock me all the time to the top
He was a punk
And he lived in a huge city
It was Vienna, was Vienna
Where he did everything
He has debts because he drank
But all women loved him
And every one of them called:
Come on and rock me Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, oh oh oh Amadeus
He was a superstar
He was popular
He was so exalted
Because he had that certain appearance
He was a virtuoso
Was a rock idol
And everyone called:
Come on and rock me Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, oh oh oh Amadeus
Come on and rock me Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus Amadeus, oh oh oh Amadeus
It was around 1780
And it happened in Vienna
No plastic money anymore
The banks against him
Almost everybody knew
Where his debts came from
He was a heart throb
Women loves his punk
Falco was originally Austrian, his songs are mostly sung in German, but he was never afraid to use English phrases, as is common today... But in the 80s, this guy was something special, he was something of a visionary, and in fact, he was the first rap singer in the history of pop music
Falco is definitely one to get used to especially with the German lyrics. There actually is an english extended version you might try that's different.
Phaaaaaaaa ya'll faces LOL! Ya'll were mind blown! LOL Both of you had the same look! He's speaking pure English with accent!
He sings some in German and some in English. This song was huge back in the day!
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Falco - Kommissar another great hit check it out
The look on your faces was great!!!! We did have some weird music in the 80s that you would end up singing !!! LOL 😝
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart…the rock star of his time!
Spring of 1986 this soared to the Top of the American charts at #1 becoming the first #1 song in America entirely in German
ama dayus lol I HAVE HEARD THIS SONG A MILLION AND ONE TIMES :D
Falco was inspired by the success of the film "Amadeus" by Milos Forman, which won the Oscar for Best Picture in 1984, and at the same time he paid tribute to his compatriot Wolfgang Amedus Mozart, perhaps the most famous composer along with Beethoven. . Watch the movie, it's worth it, its two main actors shared the nomination for Best Actor.
This was the first (only?) German language song to hit the US number 1 spot. He's singing about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart.
Listen closer it is half English half German.
In almost all of Falco"s songs the chorus is in English and the verses are in German.
He was a child prodigy and was considered outlandish for the time
Go after Der Kommisar official video for the definitive Falco tune
This is one that's going to make your head move. It's in German, so, I can't help you there. Check out the song "99 Red Baloon's" by NENA. It's in German, but I think there was a cover done in English. It's also very catchy, and you might have already heard it?
The English version wasn't a cover, it was performed by Nena.
Or, another translation I found:
[Intro]
Rock me, rock me, rock me, rock me
Rock me, Amadeus
Do it, do it
Ey
Rock me all the time to the top
[Part 1]
He was a punk and lived in the big city
It was in Vienna, in Vienna, where he did everything
He had debts because he drank, but women all loved him anyway
And everybody screamed: "Come and rock me Amadeus!"
He was a superstar, he was popular
He was exalted, because he had flair
He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol
And everybody screamed: "Come and rock me Amadeus!"
[Hook]
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus
Come and rock me Amadeus!
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus
[Part 2]
It was around 1780 and it was in Vienna
No plastic money any more, the banks were against him
Everyone knew where the debts came from
He was a ladies' man, women loved his punk
He was a superstar, he was popular
He was too exalted, and that was his flair
He was a virtuoso, he was a rock idol
And everybody's still screaming: "Come and rock me Amadeus!"
[Hook]
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus
Come and rock me Amadeus!
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus
Come and rock me Amadeus!
Come and rock me Amadeus!
[Hook]
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus
Oh, can't you rock me Amadeus?
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus, Amadeus
Amadeus, Amadeus - oh, oh, oh - Amadeus
[Outro]
Amadeus, Amadeus!
Amadeus, Amadeus!
Come on, rock me
Come and rock me to the top
Amadeus
Ama-, Ama-, Amadeus
Now come and, now come and rock me, Amadeus
Amadeus
Have US-Americans really so little historical knowledge?
can you do a reaction to Mongrel by Bob Seger System
Falco was absolutely genius. One third of this song is German, one third Englisch and the last third are just noises you might make when you have a stroke. But he makes an absolute masterpiece out of it.
The two languages are closely linked. It shouldn't surprise us to hear 'English' words in 'German.' It doesn't surprise us to hear 'German' words in 'English,' (kindergarten, zeitgeist, iceberg, schadenfreude, angst, Neanderthal, wunderkind, uber, etc. etc.).
Your expressions are priceless...in a good way!!
Ah-muh-day-us! Last name Mozart!🙄😂❤️✌️
“Dr Zaius, Dr Zaius, oh oh oh Dr Zaius” 🦧🦧🦧🦧🦧
Was given this album for my birthday back then. Very popular. Had the English version.
Once you hear it, that’s enough.
Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, my friend. This was real big in the eighties, even in the UK. Maybe check out "Opus", "Live is life"?
The first time I heard this song, I could swear they were saying, "Hot potatoes, hot potatoes ..." Give it a listen and see.
He has an English version, check it out.
I love this song I bought this back in 80s on 12 inch ❤❤🇬🇧🇬🇧😊😊
you should check out a lyric video to find out what he is saying and the context he is singing about mozart.
Your faces are priceless Ib the video 😂
It is about Amadeus Mozart. The song is in German. It was a Billboart nr. 1 hit.
It's like the father of Rammstein.😂❤️
This is a very 80's song. Reminds me of high school.
There's an English version too
Song is in German. Telling story about the great composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
I prefer the Canadian release, it's a bit different, gives a little biography of Mozart.
Well the Movie was good as well as Mozart himself, a genius. Also, EVH's son is named after the subject of this video, so there's that..
It's got a good beat and you can dance to it. If you get it you are old. Lol! ✌
This version of the song is in German and English and at one point this song was insanely popular I mean it was on top of the world!
Many versions of this song .... basically Mozart was a 'music god' -so he's saying Mozart was celebrated in those days as to how we celebrate current rock stars. Austrian singer - died tragically but great artist and this song was huge all over the world. Was top of the US charts but slightly different version.
If you haven't already, you need to watch or react to the English version! Y'all are great!!! Much love!! 🎸🎶💕🎵🎷💖
Had to be alive at the time
English Version went to #1 in Jan 1986. The German is my favorite still
The 411? When we still had phones and had to dial for information?😂😂
I never complain or tease people for mispronouncing a word or name; It usually means they learned it from reading, which is always a good thing.
i thank you ....
80's monster hit!
Result of public schools right here. 🤔😎
Big hit ❤️ Mozart❤️ helped to be smoking too.🤗🥳
As a speaker two Germanic languages; I not only understand at least "the gist" of the lyrics; most reaction videos make me think of, how English, and other Germanic speach must sound to others.
It's tricky, with some English mixed in with German. Der Kommissar, has the original German (Deutsch) version, and an English version. I don't know if this has an English version.
This will get stuck in your head.
Please react to Status Quo- In The Army Now, same producers as Falco, the brothers Bolland and Bolland, from Holland ;-p
YOU GOT THE WRONG VERSION
You need the 12” American Extended Version.
THATS the one you need to listen to.
This one has to much German in it.
It's a tribute to Mozart! The AUSTRIAN COMPOSER! 😆😁😄
I can't believe that you don't know who Mozart was
Great song!
Alles Klar?
Do Der Kommisar... or however the eff ya spell it.... he is a german
