Ah, the memorable Tippi (Chippi), no matter what musical instrument is in her hand be it the tambourine, drum, cymbals or xylophone she will play with all her heart. It's well evident that she loves what she's doing and was a great senpai for little Penguin who followed in her foot steps. They were both a sight to behold.
Love watching "Tippi "on that Tambourine! She always has the biggest brightest smile in every video. Tippi has a grand old time in every performance! Don't know what year she is in school, but we're all going to miss her when she does graduate. Tippi is an Entertainer! Love Tachibana High School Band, they are the BEST!!!
The luckiest people where those who had the opportunity to see Tachibana Live, in the parade, the Band Fest and or in their final performance in JFK High School before they returned home to Japan. I hope the kids know how much American's appreciate the performances they put on here. They are truly a Super bunch of Student Musicians! Their stay here gained them untold thousands of new fans.

Thank you for posting this video. It was fun to watch the Composite Percussion Corps, and an honor to witness the Drum Major's reaction to the end of the last piece of music. She did her best. They all did their best.
When Tippi (Chippi), plays an instrument there is no doubt in the instrument's mind that it was played/handles by Tippi. I'm of the opinion that if you would come back that you would see the the instrument played/handled by Tippi performing by it's self. Why is this my opinion.... well as you can see from this video or any video for that matter when you get a glimpse of Tippi, that she puts all her heart and soul into whichever instrument is assigned to her be it the tambourine/xylophone or drums. She will play the stuffing out of it and with the grandest of smiles while doing it. Other than Penguin being one of my favorite band members, Tippi has the number one spot for me. She enjoy playing music and is well evident by this video and many others such as this. @@800land Seiru (on the drum kit) was a heckuva drummer, and Toriton on the quads hit every bit as hard as Tippi. This year, there's a Glockenspiel player (I don't know her nick) that is VERY good, and reminds everyone of Tippi with her ability with the mallets. ..Joe

I wonder if they know how popular they are in the US I met some of the band at Disneyland when I was a off duty police officer doing security there the people at Disneyland loved their band they are highly intelligent and very polite their parents must be very proud of those gifted girls and boys in the band
They work very very hard to get all things perfect. I have seen the early morning classes 7am before school day starts , then after school practicing for hours. Then after a few years they are replaced by the up and coming classes ... They are Wonderful and such fun
They know, but in typical Japanese humble fashion, they pay it no heed, and it doesn't affect them. This is an after-school club, and they work terribly hard in it- 37.5 hours a week of practice, 360 days a year, but they do it for themselves, not for recognition. There's no social media connection, no self-promotion, no way to even contact the band at the school. In fact, after they graduate, most put down their instruments forever. It makes their accomplishments even the more amazing. ..Joe
Tippi is electric; my favorite percussionist! And every Kyoto Tachibana experience is a blessing, wherever, whenever it can be found. I have a whole TH-cam "folder" of KTSHSB performances; whenever I need an "upper" or a feel-good before retiring, Tachibana is it. I just love these kids, all of them.

Windbreaker57, I do the same. :D When I'm low or need some extra energy I always watch them to. They are so full of energy and life and I regret that I didn't know about them before I went to Japan (and Kyoto) last august. Otherwise I would have tried to watch them live if it had been possible. Tippi is one of the "genki-girls" in the group and always brightens up every performance. :D

Oh there's Chippi and there's Ron (DM of 2017-2018) as clarinetist. Of course, the legendary Tanaka-sensei as orchestra chef. There's also on stage Tama-chan (clarinet), Yurumowa (sousaphone) and Palinpu (flute, future DM in 2019) from the group O-Vils (all of them were First Year in 2018) but we can't see them on this video.

Ron was technically retired from the band already- the 3rd graders leave right around Christmastime to begin studied for their college entrance exams. Because of the Rose Parade her tenure extended about an extra week, and she had to be aware that this was her very last hurrah as a member, and DM of the band. And she left on an amazing high note. KT became a world sensation because of YT and the videos when she was leading the band in the Rose Parade. But for her, it was goodbye to the club she had joined 3 years ago. ..Joe

No, I think P-chan just grew up a little. At the start of her junior year she was still shy and didn't even yell when the other kids did, but she became more open as the year went on. Now as a senior, she's a little dynamo as the leader of the percussion section. ..Joe

Just before the the benefit concert on Jan 2, 2020, I went behind the Aratani Theater and saw some of the band members packing up some drums. They were all wearing face masks. I walked up to one and showed her the list of KT members from the interview that were in the Honor Band. At the top of the list was Chippi. She pointed to it and pulled down her mask and said "that's me!" I asked for an autograph and she signed her real name (in Japanese) Through another band member who spoke better English I told her she was the darling of KT. She became very embarrassed and said "no, no!". During the concert she had the biggest smile and she never stopped moving. See her in GROO ME!! on TH-cam.

There is only one person in the world on the level of Tippi !----the central drummer of the Hiryu high school band----at the MT Fuji Taiko Festival---2011 and 2012.....also a beautiful high schoolgirl !
I'll try again. I agree that the drummer in the center to the High School Taiko Drum Group is a great drummer, and she is very pretty. I love to watch her facial expressions while she is playing. I am a former drummer and I love to hear a Taiko drum group. The Koto Taiko drum group did a concert near me a couple of years ago. It was wonderful. However I have not seen anyone playing anything anywhere that had that magic spark that Chippi has, even at just 100 lbs. She has got to be the smallest drummer I have ever seen. And her energy continues today with the O'VILLES group. She must have been born with that spark and beautiful smile.
Right idea to focus a video on the percussion section. Too bad the angle was tough. These girls make it look effortless, that's when you know they "got their act together". Entire band is outstanding, however percussion can smile and play at the same time.
Tippi is not a dog with a face similar to me. Tippi is among the tambourine players. And it disperses highly infectious happiness. As you can imagine, the clips they generate from the orange torii are up.

Oh there's Chippi and there's Ron (DM of 2017-2018) as clarinetist. Of course, the legendary Tanaka-sensei as orchestra chef.
There's also on stage Tama-chan (clarinet), Yurumowa (sousaphone) and Palinpu (flute, future DM in 2019) from the group O-Vils (all of them were First Year in 2018) but we can't see them on this video.

Ron was technically retired from the band already- the 3rd graders leave right around Christmastime to begin studied for their college entrance exams. Because of the Rose Parade her tenure extended about an extra week, and she had to be aware that this was her very last hurrah as a member, and DM of the band.
And she left on an amazing high note. KT became a world sensation because of YT and the videos when she was leading the band in the Rose Parade. But for her, it was goodbye to the club she had joined 3 years ago.

if you see this I miss chippi, if I was the age of this woman I would have sailed with a large cargo ship full of roses from the Netherlands to Japan and asked her, what a great woman this is, the woman who always laughs and can never stand still. from day 1 i saw this woman i thought WOW what a great woman this..really miss Tachibana, people like Chippi are really hard to find. And how proud her parents will be of such a daughter, and thanks to her parents for realizing this, because there is no such woman as she is ... But she can now be heard or seen at the band Yuragi, this for the real fans of Chippi

No, I think P-chan just grew up a little. At the start of her junior year she was still shy and didn't even yell when the other kids did, but she became more open as the year went on. Now as a senior, she's a little dynamo as the leader of the percussion section.

Just before the the benefit concert on Jan 2, 2020, I went behind the Aratani Theater and saw some of the band members packing up some drums. They were all wearing face masks. I walked up to one and showed her the list of KT members from the interview that were in the Honor Band. At the top of the list was Chippi. She pointed to it and pulled down her mask and said "that's me!" I asked for an autograph and she signed her real name (in Japanese) Through another band member who spoke better English I told her she was the darling of KT. She became very embarrassed and said "no, no!". During the concert she had the biggest smile and she never stopped moving. See her in GROO ME!! on TH-cam.

I'll try again. I agree that the drummer in the center to the High School Taiko Drum Group is a great drummer, and she is very pretty. I love to watch her facial expressions while she is playing. I am a former drummer and I love to hear a Taiko drum group. The Koto Taiko drum group did a concert near me a couple of years ago. It was wonderful. However I have not seen anyone playing anything anywhere that had that magic spark that Chippi has, even at just 100 lbs. She has got to be the smallest drummer I have ever seen. And her energy continues today with the O'VILLES group. She must have been born with that spark and beautiful smile.

Right idea to focus a video on the percussion section. Too bad the angle was tough. These girls make it look effortless, that's when you know they "got their act together". Entire band is outstanding, however percussion can smile and play at the same time.
