This product seems like something that would sell on the Home Shopping Network. Like when they try to sell you gold plated coins and persuade you to believe that they are valuable.
A true collectable is something of limited production that has escaped the waste paper bin. Not these manufacted relics that are deemed a rare collectable as you say.
I would rather pay down my mortgage with that, or buy a car, or go on 3 or 4 nice vacations. How has this hobby gotten so out of control with charging $17,000 for cardboard?

@@bomorris5050 there's a place here in Arkansas where you could literally find diamonds just laying on the ground. At worst, you may have to do just a little digging. You won't find the clear, high-dollar diamonds, but they are diamonds nonetheless. And it's no guarantee you'll find one, but you could.

I don’t collect the newer stuff but it’s nice collecting older team sets from the 50’s-80’s. The early 2000’s ruined it for me, there were so many sets available. I agree that this is the new junk wax era in a sense, 1 million of the same player from different sets compared to 1 million from a single set.
Its not so much the price. Because percentage-wise, this product is probably better than most. My main problem is that the cards are hideous looking. there's only so many ways to redesign cardboard and throw an MJ auto on there. For me, the design is a bust. I generally equate luxury high-end with simplicity. People really just want to see a picture and an auto or patch. these look gaudy and crowded. The other problem is, there's a fairly limited number of buyers on the super high end. There's only so many people willing to pay a grand for a single card. I buy and sell all the time. The more expensive, the longer they just sit and sit waiting for a buyer at the price you want. For me, national treasures or immaculate look far better, so what inherently makes these worth several times more?
Outside of the Griffey box loader, Lebron Masterful Painings, and dual Gretzky/Lebron auto I'm not overly impressed for the price. 30 junk manufactured cards in a $17000 box? They should at least be autographed. Seems like a cheap filler for Upper Deck. That Master Collection Relic better be freaking amazing. It appears all their relics are basic items that they pulled from their store. And whats up with the MJ auto motorcycle? was that his? lol otherwise its completely pointless. You would need an autographed game used Lebron jersey to come close to breaking even. I also agree with the other person who said it kills the surprise. Outside of the "relic" you know exactly what you're getting. If you enjoyed it thought that's all that matters. I know i wouldn't touch for half the MSRP.

What's wrong with putting a cut auto into this? I've literally seen boxes of Topps Dynasty have better cards. I think if I had spent 17k on this box I would want to crawl in a hole for about a week.
The buyer of this product thinks its an investment instrument. They buy this thinking that in 10 years they can sell it and retire. That product is a classic Giffen Good.

Thanks for posting the Vid, quick question if you don't mind, Manufactured Patches? I have seen Master's before, I didn't agree with fake patches to form a logo. This is a high end product to say the least, and Its hard to call something "Masters" when the top loader is worth more then the card. Haven't met one collector that proudly showed off his manufactured patch. I did enjoy the break, thanks again guys!

WoW , i remember back in the day when a quarter bought 2 packs of hockey cards and a pack of tootsie rolls. We would chew on the tootsie rolls while opening the hockey packs to see if we were lucky enough to get the likes of Bobby Orr , Ken Dryden, Bobby Hull, Gordie Howe, or Phil Esposito. 20 Cards and No such luck , but we enjoyed the thrill !
Upper Deck is one clever SOB. 5k worth of stuff for 17k. Wow, or consumers are that dumb to spend that much. I would expect like 86 Fleer Jordan PSA 10's, Greztky RC pSA 9's etc.
They seem like great hits, but it's literally a greatest hit box....... If everything is numbered 125/200 then almost all of the cases have the same crap in them. Just because it's a name on the card doesn't mean it's a great hit lol

I have to agree with what most people are saying, i def don't think the cards are worth the price tag. it just seems like UD is trying to stick together autos of great players (on a uniform design) and stick them in a box to justify the high price tag. the diamond cards seem cool, tho people are saying they are low grade diamonds. the manufactured patches to me are worthless, its sorta like the recent exquisite basketball where they had shoe autos but the shoes were not game used, just aftermarket shoes..like okk. this sticks to a standard set of what you can get (#20 here and all look the same), to me it takes the excitement out of what you can pull. I think a great idea would be to put together autos of the greats but from all different past UD sets from like 1999 till recent, that way each auto you pull is from a different set/variation and are unique. i guess the only cool thing with this set is the redemptions bc they are of like random items (need to see a checklist though). just my opinion.

I used to collect sports cards and memorabilia-Just thinking about all the actual gold and silver I could invest in with $17k and then I’d be able to buy apocalypse bread rice toilet paper, etc. and then where’s the fun and chance and gamble when you KNOW your getting the goods? Our essentially just buying a stacked (upper) deck.
What baffles me about this hobby as a I take a peek at it after being away for 15 years, is how much its like playing scratch off tickets now. So many people these days don't collect cards, they collect thrills of maybe getting something -anything- rare. There is so much 1 of 5, 1 of 50, autograph this, autograph that. The question I have is, what makes your 1 of 5 card of player X worth more than the other 10,000 variations of 1 of 5 cards being printed of the same player? It just blows my mind the number of people I've seen posting videos or blog posts about being forced to choose between avoiding financial ruin in one form or another or card collecting. I mean, why in the holy hell can people not collect cards and be financially responsible? Because in order to play this game and pull the "hits", money must be vacuumed out of your wallet for the absurdly priced hobby boxes that everybody needs to buy to get said hits. Oh sure, you can collect base sets and let everybody else have all the fun. Sounds awesome. They ruined this hobby in the 80s and 90s with over production of product, now they've turned it into a high cost lottery mass producing artificial scarcity to drive hype. Exhibit A - I give you this $17,000 box of UD All-Time Great Masters Collection. Not even if I was a billionaire would I buy this.

Looks like a waste of money to me. Card trading has turned into a expensive hobby that was just designed for kids. The adults ruined it. When I was a kid I bought Topps wax packs from 65 to 69. I wish only kids could buy the cards.

Let's see... $17,000 for a new car OR $17,000 for a box of cards? When I was a kid I remember buying boxes of Upper Deck Hockey for $40 and sometimes even splitting one with my brother for $20 each. We'd open them together. Alot of good times and memories. How can you even enjoy this hobby anymore and sleep at night knowing you just dropped $17,000 on a box of cards? They can put out all the luxurious cards and sugar coat them with their "1 of 1's" or "1 of 20's" any way they want to. This hobby sucks now. The market is FLOODED with this junk. They can keep it as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who would pay over $100 for A box, let alone $17,000 is a damn fool and should have their head examined. No offense intended to the maker of this video. I was just sickened when i saw it retailed for $17,000. I still enjoyed watching it
My question is, apart from Arnold Palmer, most of these athletes will be signing high-end cards for the next 20 plus years. So what is the appeal, when there are so many autograph and jersey cards out there from so many premium card makers? And they just seem to produce more cards every year.

This, in theory, is a cool product. For $17K though, no game used anything? Just a placemat sized manufactured patch that probably cost Upper Deck $6, and they chop it up and make a puzzle out of it. Every auto has the same numbering except one or two. It’s cool dude was happy to break this and is giving the cards away, but if I didn’t know what this had in it and dropped that kinda money, I would be PISSED.

$17k for a bunch of patch cards that don't even seem to have been worn or used by these people. These were just things that Upper Deck made and cut them up then slapped some legends name to it. Why the hell would Gretzky and James be on the same card? That just makes no sense at all. All the autographs being 9/20 is stupid as hell. So if you buy one of these and you don't have 1/20 they aren't worth nearly as much. Low print runs, in this case 20 isn't that low when you consider they only made 200 of these boxes. So now everything being serial numbered just doesn't hold the same value it used to, especially when you know the entire series is limited. This is such a joke.
I mean yea nice cards besides the manufactured patches. I could see the diamond card being worth that much simply because of the stones. 5000 would be a more realistic price without the diamond card.
I could never afford that. But that was a very solid break. I really like the look of the autos, and the LeBron 1/1 and Jordan quad diamond are amazing. Just seems like there are a bunch of bitter people commenting.

I used to collect sports cards and memorabilia-Just thinking about all the actual gold and silver I could invest in with $17k and then I’d be able to buy apocalypse bread rice toilet paper, etc. and then where’s the fun and chance and gamble when you KNOW your getting the goods? Our essentially just buying a stacked (upper) deck.
What baffles me about this hobby as a I take a peek at it after being away for 15 years, is how much its like playing scratch off tickets now. So many people these days don't collect cards, they collect thrills of maybe getting something -anything- rare. There is so much 1 of 5, 1 of 50, autograph this, autograph that. The question I have is, what makes your 1 of 5 card of player X worth more than the other 10,000 variations of 1 of 5 cards being printed of the same player? It just blows my mind the number of people I've seen posting videos or blog posts about being forced to choose between avoiding financial ruin in one form or another or card collecting. I mean, why in the holy hell can people not collect cards and be financially responsible? Because in order to play this game and pull the "hits", money must be vacuumed out of your wallet for the absurdly priced hobby boxes that everybody needs to buy to get said hits. Oh sure, you can collect base sets and let everybody else have all the fun. Sounds awesome. They ruined this hobby in the 80s and 90s with over production of product, now they've turned it into a high cost lottery mass producing artificial scarcity to drive hype. Exhibit A - I give you this $17,000 box of UD All-Time Great Masters Collection. Not even if I was a billionaire would I buy this.

Looks like a waste of money to me. Card trading has turned into a expensive hobby that was just designed for kids. The adults ruined it. When I was a kid I bought Topps wax packs from 65 to 69. I wish only kids could buy the cards.

When I was a kid I remember buying boxes of Upper Deck Hockey for $40 and sometimes even splitting one with my brother for $20 each.
We'd open them together. Alot of good times and memories. How can you even enjoy this hobby anymore and sleep at night knowing you just dropped $17,000 on a box of cards?
They can put out all the luxurious cards and sugar coat them with their "1 of 1's" or "1 of 20's" any way they want to. This hobby sucks now.
The market is FLOODED with this junk. They can keep it as far as I'm concerned. Anyone who would pay over $100 for A box, let alone $17,000 is a damn fool and should have their head examined.

My question is, apart from Arnold Palmer, most of these athletes will be signing high-end cards for the next 20 plus years. So what is the appeal, when there are so many autograph and jersey cards out there from so many premium card makers? And they just seem to produce more cards every year.

for the price of this product! wouldn't it be a smarter move to just buy the singles online and save alot of money. it looks like they just sold you a car your stuck the payment for a long time. when its paid off the trade isnt worth nothing. i guess its only the enjoyment of collecting, but at these prices your prob not happy anymore lol.

WTF?! Manufactured patches? That all basically look similar?! Wow. I was expecting something like National Treasures or Flawless or something like that. I mean, i could imagine seeing Leaf or maybe even HIT trying to pull something like this off. The patches are all the same no matter what sport the athletes are in! I can see why Upper Deck basically hit the deck (as far as know). But what im just wondering is, that if dumpster juice bullshit was 17 grand five years ago, What would be the price of it today (2021)? That's scary.

This, in theory, is a cool product. For $17K though, no game used anything? Just a placemat sized manufactured patch that probably cost Upper Deck $6, and they chop it up and make a puzzle out of it. Every auto has the same numbering except one or two. It’s cool dude was happy to break this and is giving the cards away, but if I didn’t know what this had in it and dropped that kinda money, I would be PISSED.

$17k for a bunch of patch cards that don't even seem to have been worn or used by these people. These were just things that Upper Deck made and cut them up then slapped some legends name to it. Why the hell would Gretzky and James be on the same card? That just makes no sense at all. All the autographs being 9/20 is stupid as hell. So if you buy one of these and you don't have 1/20 they aren't worth nearly as much. Low print runs, in this case 20 isn't that low when you consider they only made 200 of these boxes. So now everything being serial numbered just doesn't hold the same value it used to, especially when you know the entire series is limited. This is such a joke.
