At 3:50 when I un-comment the first line and delete the second one I still see the white background :c Of course everything that comes afterward doesn't change anything. Does TD updates the code changes automatically? Could it be a version problem? I'm following verbatim.

Are you using VSCode or another external text editor to edit the GLSL code? If so, you'll need to make sure to save (Ctrl+S in VSCode on Windows, Cmd+S on Mac) the code each time you make updates to it, otherwise you won't see any changes back in TouchDesigner.
