I just learned this, and what helped me get the timing of the together version is to keep one hand stationary but still spinning the poi while the other does the CAP. Drill with the one hand a couple times, then switch which hand is stationary. Then move them together when you're comfortable.
When looking at video of myself practicing this, I notice that over time my arm movements get less (what starts out as decent almost-180-degree sweeps start covering smaller and smaller arcs) and when that happens the timing of the poi doing the anti-spin petal and the poi doing just a sweeping arc, that timing gets off and the move falls apart. I'm working on keeping the arm movements consistent if I keep doing the move for multiple reps -- and mention it here in case it might be useful to anybody else learning the move: if you can do it reasonably well at first but then it falls apart on you, maybe check that you are keeping your arm sweeps consistent as you continue along!
