Love my sp3 17’ beat the shit out of it sailing white water solo up to 4 people great all round canoe. For a great solo canoe I have the nova craft fox 14 awesome canoe feels a little tipsy at first with the round bottom. But great secondary stability quite fast and holds a good amount of gear
Any updates on this? Did you ever go lighter? I only ask......because I have some French Canadian mystery canoe. I absolutely love everything about this canoe but it's weight. It's fast, stable, and light on the water. I don't think I could tip if it I tried. Again, the weight has me looking at other options but I'm afraid I won't find another like it. I did get a 14' Old Town Royalex. Sure it's light.... but it's soooo slow.
Great question!..I actually just picked up a Chestnut Bob's special that I am doing some work on. Then it's going out to get re canvased. There will be a video and adventures to follow! Thanks!
@@morganillsley94 Looking at the Chestnut Bobs & mine makes me think mine was designed closely with that in mind. The sharp front sweeping ends just cut through the water with ease. I've been looking but again, I'm afraid I will find another lighter boat & it be a hog like the OT was. Light but slow. :( I might just get a real yoke for it & deal with the weight for now. Not sure I can post links here but here's mine. i.imgur.com/K9TPBnD.jpg & i.imgur.com/u9q5j0i.jpg
What! Absolutely this is a tripping canoe! She was built to absorb the tough conditions of the Canadian Shield. You need to learn how to run rapids instead of portaging between those height of land lakes.
Yes. End bags might be smart. I recommend a full send from the outer banks. The canoe will show up in Europe. Probably France. Expect a lot of barnacles and other stuff growing on it. (Someone was towing an NDK Explorer on the coast of NC and had to cut the boat loose. It showed up in France with the owner's wallet and keys still in the hatch.)
A beast!

Just picked one of these up second hand. Thought I was buying a 15’ one got it back and checked the plate and it’s a 16’ 😂
I'm pretty sure you're still gonna love it!😍👍
Where are you finding these for sale? What web classified platforms and what general location?
I would just search Nova craft 16" prospector in SP3..In your local classifieds? Thanks.👍
So how heavy is it? 🤓
87 lbs on flat ground..87,0000000 on steep hills!🤣🤣👍
heya what about a tent review?
I can work on that for you.. I will see if they even sell them anymore!

Ok, I see you're point. I'll work on it ;).
but will it cross the north atlantic?
only with power-Illsley paddling it!
It won't not cross the Atlantic..;)
Yes ! It can even handle icebergs crashing into it.
