Honestly, I can sympathize with Afro. There's something about being stuck on a boss, that you've ALREADY beaten, which makes it so incredibly frustrating.
I think the reason why is because when he beat the boss the first time, he had to, in order to beat the game, but since he doesn't need that same drive in order to beat the game, it's a lot harder because he's not doing it to beat the game. He's doing it just to do it. He's fighting a boss that he doesn't have to fight. It's like fighting a war that is already over.
Afro was lucky the first time.

I never understood why the ape holds afro so much, it's arguably one of the easiest bosses in the game, for the grab if he is close run forward and under him, you keep side running directly into the grab. Hold circle for the long dodge into sprint aswell you cover alot of ground. If it makes you feel any better you are fighting the tougher version of the boss though cause you are playing the gauntlet not the reflection.
Bruh its just different for everyone. The owl was hard af for me but the sword saint only took me 10 tries.
