Did this repair today - it worked thanks!!! The only problem is separating the potentiometer from the volume knob - I ended up using a soldering iron for both separating it and then melting it back together. The potentiometer is a B103 (6 pin) it is a 10K linear (as apposed to logarithmic) and interestingly it is mechanically restricted to sweep around 100 degrees so. . . . . maybe if you snap past the restriction (which will fudge the top plate) then your Companion 5s might go louder :) (don't try that) - THANKS!!
