i think that just selling the coconuts and cacti from the desert (especially with the botanist profession) you can get large chunk of gold and that's where i get a TON of gold.
i do that but i always accidentally harvest the wine so i tried using signs with wine on them outside the shed, but i keep changing the item on the sign...
Sooo, just a tip about pigs: I upgraded my barn pretty early, and bought just two pigs. As time passes, they reproduced over and over again, so now my barn is almost full and I just had to buy two pigs. It might be a good idea to let them reproduce, it may take some time, but saves a lot of money.
Fishing: as soon as Willy gives you the bamboo rod, go straight in and buy the training rod. It's only 25g and it makes fishing SO MUCH easier. You only get basic fish, but you can level up to level 3 very quickly because the green bar is much bigger, then buy the fibreglass rod.
I watched a video about early in game money making that is insane. The tea plant recipe you get from Caroline at 2 hearts is OP. They only take seed packets fiber and wood I think?(spring, summer, fall and winter, any of these will work) If you sell just the plants they're 500g a piece. Craft a bunch and you could literally have a lot of money in the beginning to get you started money wise. Just keep replanting to get the foragables and make a bunch of packets. It's endless money for early game and you can level up for foraging in the process :) Good start until you can start making the big money.

Since aging is an exact interval of how long it takes to grow ancient fruit there is literally no time that the casks would not be running if you are constantly selling excess fruit. Aging wine isn't a gold per day sort of thing because it doesn't prevent you from growing and selling crops and excess wine while they age.

I am a fishing buff in literally all the games I play. Therefore naturally the first thing I did last week when I played the game for the first time was fish. That is, once I realized there was a fishing rod. I just immediately started to make bank. I can confirm the fishing thing. It makes quick money if you’re decently good at it. And even if you absolutely suck, if you keep at it and lvl up your fishing skill, it will get easier. It can’t hurt to upgrade ur fishing rod either. Just got my iridium one and it feels like the green thing covers like half the fishing bar. It’s a good rule of thumb that in basically all games (except Fortnite that’s a waste of time) fishing is op and always super chill. I’m at the point where I can catch a pike with my eyes crossed/blurry.
Honestly I don't even bother with making truffle oil out of my truffles... with the profession that makes all forageables you pick up iridium quality, you're making more from just selling the iridium truffles :D
Awesome video! I do the same thing and I have about 400 casks and currently making more. Also, when collecting wines you don’t have to hover the mouse over the keg! You can just hold the action button and walk by them, If you pull your character toward either side you should be able to get them all without doubling back. Aging wine is definitely worth it! It’s not gonna be your main source of money, but it’s a basically free price increase for some of your wine so basically why not? And waiting for it to go iridium you have to maintain your cellar like… 2 times a year?
I'm back on stardew for the third or forth time, lol. I rarely got much past year 2 so I'm planning on making it this time. Added xbox achievements are a good incentive too. This may be an unpopular opinion...but the way I use my casks is for cheese for healing in SC and Dangerous. It doesn't take long at all especially once your cows are producing primarily large milks(for those that dont know large milks turn into gold quality cheese). And just cask normally/silver quality ancient fruit. I only age wine once I have a few stacks of iridium cheese, and even then I only age wine to gold. FYI you can use a hoe to "harvest" the wine in it's gold quality
Why do you take wine out when it's at gold quality? You don't make any extra money that way (it takes double the time to go from gold to iridium, and it doubles the value) but it's extra work. Imo the point of the cellar is that it's low effort, you can just put the wine there and let it be for two seasons, so increasing the effort you put into it for no extra reward doesn't seem sensible to me The cheese thing sounds okay to me, it's a bit expensive (625 gold per cheese when you factor in the selling price of gold cheese and the opportunity cost of not using the cask for aging ancient fruit wine) but still cheaper than buying energy tonics and relatively low effort
You actually do make more gold per day doing gold instead of iridium. If you make 100g per wibe(I know it's more but this for simple math) going to gold in 28 days is 150g per, then going to gold in 28 days is another 150, meaning you're making 300 gold per cask every 58 days instead of 200 with iridium. I'm more about gold per day instead of gold per plant. It's just how I've always done it.

Aging cheese is actually more profitable than aging most wines. The exceptions are Starfruit and Ancient Fruit so you're not missing out on much in terms of profit and I think the extra energy and health might be worth it. I usually age my wine until silver quality since it makes more gold since you get 8 "harvests" compared to gold quality's 4 and iridium's 2 but it takes more effort since I have to remember to take out the wine every 2 weeks. I don't use cheese anymore since I now use pineapples and fruit salads for going into SC and Danger but if I did continue using cheese, I would have definitely at least considered doing this. Just to note, when you said SC and Dangerous, it took me a second to realize that you meant the Dangerous mines and not DangerouslyFunny. I don't even watch him anymore.
On the topic of wine: it can be exponentially more profitable to age wine if you buy farmhand cabins. You can have up to 3 at a time. Each can be upgraded to have extra rooms you can either decorate or treat as extra large sheds. Plus, you can make a basement. Essentially 4x the aging wine at any given time. That's at least one full shipment of iridium quality wine per season. And assuming you are farming ancient fruit year round on your island farm and maybe more on your main farm, that is an obscene amount of wine
farmhand cabins can't be upgraded in vanilla singleplayer. Local co-op doesn't work either afaik, you would need to have 2 instances of the game running on 1 PC or a friend to help you
I have upgraded my cabins on the switch version of the game using local co-op. Just have the second player go to Robin to upgrade. It's same pricing as if you were upgrading your own house. This was in a recent update I believe
My current setup is 759 starfruit plants on the island farm, all fertilized with hyper speed grow (and with agriculturist, they take 1 week to grow which is great because it matches the time it takes to turn them into wine), and I got 6 deluxe barns full of 139 kegs each. Plus I have 1 barn's worth of pigs, and 1 coop's worth of gold chickens. Also, I got about 400 crystallariums in the quarry all making diamonds ^^
How do you get the speed-gro? Doesn't it need to be used every season (I haven't tried how it works on the island)? Or do you just make new one every season?
@@exantiuse497 on the island, the season never changes, so as long as you keep a crop on the patch, the fertilizer never goes away. I farmed the bone fragments from the digsite and floors 70-79 of the hard mines (with monster musk applied on a good luck day with 2 luck rings, one of them combined with a burglar ring, gold star lucky lunch and ginger ale, on a good luck day. Also, do the same for radioactive ore but spam the first floor over and over. The solar essence can be bought 10 per day from Krobus.
Re: Fishing: Willy's shop has a training rod for 25 coins (the sale price of a Joja Cola) since version 1.4. It gives you the level 4 fishing bar, prevents all but the weakest fish from even biting, and prevents them having quality modifiers. It's terrible for money, but *AMAZING* for power-leveling past the difficulty curve, because you can get perfect catch bonus experience on every cast even if you're limited to catching weak, cheap fish. Once you're actually at level 4 or 5, you can upgrade straight to the fiberglass rod and start reeling in big fish money. Re: Casks: Cheeses, including goat cheese, take two weeks to age from base quality to iridium quality. In the time it takes to age one ancient fruit wine, you can age 4 goat cheeses and turn nearly the same profit!
Be me, play with friends, go for fishing, make shit ton of money early on. Farm your own stuff (rice / ancient seed [if you are lucky from a treasure]) See them fighting over the farm and also mining, keep fishing. Say "hi" to Willy and Linus the Druid. All of them stop playing because they can't figure it out what to do in the farm, keep fishing. Year 2 starts at least 2 half of the community center is done. Take over the farm and do whatever you want, keep fishing. Remember to say "hello" to Linus and Willy. At least 1 of the 3 friends wants to comeback, tell them that you are just enjoying the fish, friend get's boomed out because he thought you where making millions by now and they wanted easy stuff. Keep fishing
my advice is for y1 challenge, if you want to complete the CC in year 1, dont get artisan, instead focus on animals, and go for coop animals. the pig is garanteed to find multiple truffles if you manage to got one by the first week of fall, but rabbit's foot will take a long time to grab. unless you get lucky with the cart, it will be your biggest road block for the CC. also, when you go for rabbits, buy at least 2. even with the coopmaster skill, it will take a long time for them to drop 1. the final thing is, save at least 1 truffle to turn into truffle oil so you can make a rain totem. the reason is, it doesnt rain in winter, and YOU NEED RAIN to unlock the missing bundle. so you have to force it if you want to try and complete it by the end of the year.
So, while the rare fruit can't be kegged, if you get it to iridium quality using the best fertilizer, then you can get $6000.00 for each iridium grade rare fruit. The gold rare fruit go for $4500.00 per each of those, which is the same as iridium quality starfruit wine. Honestly, since I haven't done the math, I can't tell if it is more efficient to grow iridium quality rare fruit or just bully through and use ancient fruit and starfruit in the wine casks. The truffle makers only make $1100.00 per truffle oil, but if you want to just make a bunch of jam makers and casks, it is less time consuming for the player to use starfruit and ancient fruit in those, because ancient fruit makes around $1200.00 for ancient fruit jam. I can't remember what the starfruit jam goes for, but I usually save that for wine. Anyway, I think you're still a more successful player than me. I'm getting close to the perfect mark, but I made a lot of time-wasting mistakes (I'm getting better, though).
Hey bro listen to me, Woodchipper is OP Lemme explain, tree farms take a lot of space on your farm or desert. Putting hardwood into a woodchipper gives around 8-13 wood, and normally mahogany trees drop 10 hardwood. So, one hardwood tree can give around 80-120 wood, when normal trees only drop 18-23 wood. Really the only downside is that it takes around 3 hours to make the hardwood, but i think its worth it.
My dad does non stop fishing when we play and his luck is INSANE,sure he has a fully upgraded rod including the bobbles and stuff but since 30th of summer i havent seen a silver or normal quality.ONLY gold or iridium quality
@@marcosdheleno I usually build basic sheds until I have as many as I want then start upgrading them. (Usually have all the house upgrades first minus the basement). I've never played with extra player houses though
normally on my saves i build the silo in spring and the chicken coop in summer, the barn in autumn, so that the animals give better items in the first winter (sorry for bad english, i know the basics but i used google translate because the comment was very long)
Fishing is definitely the best early game money maker, after investing a little time into it you can easily make 5-10k a day, i even got TWO dinosaur eggs spring year 1 from fishing and invested them into a a lizard coop and the payout is nice from dinosaur mayonnaise early on

There's a lot of expensive items if you plan to get 100% (or just unlock most things). Just the gold clock and all the teleport obelisks cost 13.000.000, return scepter for 2,000,000, etc. With 2,4 mil per month, it'd still take a year and a half ingame :,) Other than that you can buy your way through some quests instead of farming resources, it just gives more options
Do not, I repeat, DO NOT. Put iridium truffles into oil makers. That will loose you money, because iridium truffles are more expensive than truffle oil.

I think hops in first year really can't be underestimated. You normally don't have enough funds to afford yourself *immense* quantities of star fruit seeds in the first year, and filling you kegs with hops is actually faster money than melons - hops offer excellent return for a much cheaper initial investment, should easily last you all winter even if you spend the rest of the year massing more kegs.
Agreed, hops are excellent in the first year for daily harvest experience, for pale ale money, and the gold quality ones are good eating at 81 energy/36 health.

Fishing tips (because I used to miss 80% of fix and am now able to get to level 5 fishing by the end of day 3) First 2-3 days I devote all my time (other than watering) to fishing. All. Day. I don't sell my fish. These means I can pass out without losing money (or items- you don't lose items when passing out, only when you die). I fish till 2am. I want as much exp as possible. The only exception to this is I sell enough fish to make 1800 for the fibreglass rod. You get a better chance for chests and I believe also a better bite rate. And can put bait on which gives a higher bite rate. More fish... More exp... More money I use the training rod to get to level 2- just so my fishing bar increases. Then I dump it because you can't get above normal quality when using training rod. So cast your line directly in front of you to save time. Further you cast your line, the better chance for higher quality fish (when not using training rod). Getting perfect catches (feels impossible, but eventually you'll get them), give you more exp. Getting a treasure chest also gives you more exp. If you can get a treasure chest AND a perfect catch you've basically won the lottery lol. Perfect catches up the rating of your fish (given it's not normal quality to begin with). Eg. Silver star will become gold... Gold will become iridium. These fish obviously sell for more and will also give you more energy. Fish the mountain lake area during spring. I haven't done the math. But another math person said it's the best spot money wise in this season. Except when raining, fish in the river in cindersnap forest (because you can cast your line out further and therefore earn better qualities) for cat fish. Eat seaweed/ algae first. Then eat chubs. They have the best energy vs sell price. Eat the best ones first. I use these as my main source of energy early game. Fish bubble spots unless they're really far away in which cases usually I don't because you never know how long it'll take.. Don't be afraid to reset days. Day 2 I want to be level 3. Day 3 I wanna be level five. I make this happen so I can sell my fish for more profit.
i age wine as a side thing. if i got spare wine.. i age it. and i only age starfruit wine. ancient fruit wine is not aged consistently aka sold as is.. ... fixed typo!!!
how about I tell you a better method, selling tea tree saplings, they are super easy to make only need 5 wood 5 fiber and any seasonal seed of your choice, they sell for ALOT 500 for 1 tea tree sapling and you can easily make alot of them, look up a video on how to do this
@@rorymax for 1 tea sapling you need 5 fiber 5 wood and 2 wild seasonal seeds, you can get the recipe as soon as playing for 14 days, and you can easily make large batches as soon as you get the recipe, I was getting wood and fiber before I got the recipe and I was getting alot of seasonal forageables, I was able to make 30k [without trying to hard] from just those alone, if I tried harder I probably could have made about 90k
When i have so much wine isnt it worth to put a few aside and fill the basement and sell the rest. And just let them be to get more gold from them later without having to do anything?
Casks are really bad money per day, the best money (starfruit wine) is about 50 gold/day while kegs are >300. So if you're lacking room, filling the basement with kegs is better than casks. Once you get enough sheds/barns/whatever you can transition to casks, the money/day is poor but they require so little effort that you might as well, definitely the best money/rl-minute

For new players: the reason the green bar being bigger is such an important detail is that "Perfect!" catches give almost _double the XP._
I prefer to skip the fiberglass rod and wait for iridium.

I have a chest in the basement where I put wine to age and switch once previous batch is ready.

Imo the point of the cellar is that it's low effort, you can just put the wine there and let it be for two seasons, so increasing the effort you put into it for no extra reward doesn't seem sensible to me
The cheese thing sounds okay to me, it's a bit expensive (625 gold per cheese when you factor in the selling price of gold cheese and the opportunity cost of not using the cask for aging ancient fruit wine) but still cheaper than buying energy tonics and relatively low effort
You actually do make more gold per day doing gold instead of iridium. If you make 100g per wibe(I know it's more but this for simple math) going to gold in 28 days is 150g per, then going to gold in 28 days is another 150, meaning you're making 300 gold per cask every 58 days instead of 200 with iridium. I'm more about gold per day instead of gold per plant. It's just how I've always done it.
But yes you are correct with the cellar being the put it and forget thing. But I want to utilize everything to it's maximum capacity for gold per day

Aging cheese is actually more profitable than aging most wines. The exceptions are Starfruit and Ancient Fruit so you're not missing out on much in terms of profit and I think the extra energy and health might be worth it. I usually age my wine until silver quality since it makes more gold since you get 8 "harvests" compared to gold quality's 4 and iridium's 2 but it takes more effort since I have to remember to take out the wine every 2 weeks. I don't use cheese anymore since I now use pineapples and fruit salads for going into SC and Danger but if I did continue using cheese, I would have definitely at least considered doing this.
Just to note, when you said SC and Dangerous, it took me a second to realize that you meant the Dangerous mines and not DangerouslyFunny. I don't even watch him anymore.
On the topic of wine: it can be exponentially more profitable to age wine if you buy farmhand cabins. You can have up to 3 at a time. Each can be upgraded to have extra rooms you can either decorate or treat as extra large sheds. Plus, you can make a basement. Essentially 4x the aging wine at any given time. That's at least one full shipment of iridium quality wine per season. And assuming you are farming ancient fruit year round on your island farm and maybe more on your main farm, that is an obscene amount of wine
farmhand cabins can't be upgraded in vanilla singleplayer. Local co-op doesn't work either afaik, you would need to have 2 instances of the game running on 1 PC or a friend to help you
I have upgraded my cabins on the switch version of the game using local co-op. Just have the second player go to Robin to upgrade. It's same pricing as if you were upgrading your own house. This was in a recent update I believe
My current setup is 759 starfruit plants on the island farm, all fertilized with hyper speed grow (and with agriculturist, they take 1 week to grow which is great because it matches the time it takes to turn them into wine), and I got 6 deluxe barns full of 139 kegs each. Plus I have 1 barn's worth of pigs, and 1 coop's worth of gold chickens. Also, I got about 400 crystallariums in the quarry all making diamonds ^^
How do you get the speed-gro? Doesn't it need to be used every season (I haven't tried how it works on the island)? Or do you just make new one every season?
@@exantiuse497 on the island, the season never changes, so as long as you keep a crop on the patch, the fertilizer never goes away. I farmed the bone fragments from the digsite and floors 70-79 of the hard mines (with monster musk applied on a good luck day with 2 luck rings, one of them combined with a burglar ring, gold star lucky lunch and ginger ale, on a good luck day. Also, do the same for radioactive ore but spam the first floor over and over. The solar essence can be bought 10 per day from Krobus.
6:23 tho keep in mind if you have iridescent truffles, sell as is bc they sell for more than the oil
not the case if you have the artisan perk tho! iridium truffles sell for 1250g, truffle oil w/ artisan sells for 1491g!

Re: Fishing: Willy's shop has a training rod for 25 coins (the sale price of a Joja Cola) since version 1.4. It gives you the level 4 fishing bar, prevents all but the weakest fish from even biting, and prevents them having quality modifiers. It's terrible for money, but *AMAZING* for power-leveling past the difficulty curve, because you can get perfect catch bonus experience on every cast even if you're limited to catching weak, cheap fish. Once you're actually at level 4 or 5, you can upgrade straight to the fiberglass rod and start reeling in big fish money.
Re: Casks: Cheeses, including goat cheese, take two weeks to age from base quality to iridium quality. In the time it takes to age one ancient fruit wine, you can age 4 goat cheeses and turn nearly the same profit!
Be me, play with friends, go for fishing, make shit ton of money early on. Farm your own stuff (rice / ancient seed [if you are lucky from a treasure])

Year 2 starts at least 2 half of the community center is done. Take over the farm and do whatever you want, keep fishing. Remember to say "hello" to Linus and Willy.

Missed a couple: hops (making ale) and bee hives. Both can be huge money makers even in early game!
my advice is for y1 challenge, if you want to complete the CC in year 1, dont get artisan, instead focus on animals, and go for coop animals.
the pig is garanteed to find multiple truffles if you manage to got one by the first week of fall, but rabbit's foot will take a long time to grab.
unless you get lucky with the cart, it will be your biggest road block for the CC. also, when you go for rabbits, buy at least 2. even with the coopmaster skill, it will take a long time for them to drop 1.
the final thing is, save at least 1 truffle to turn into truffle oil so you can make a rain totem.
the reason is, it doesnt rain in winter, and YOU NEED RAIN to unlock the missing bundle. so you have to force it if you want to try and complete it by the end of the year.
So, while the rare fruit can't be kegged, if you get it to iridium quality using the best fertilizer, then you can get $6000.00 for each iridium grade rare fruit. The gold rare fruit go for $4500.00 per each of those, which is the same as iridium quality starfruit wine. Honestly, since I haven't done the math, I can't tell if it is more efficient to grow iridium quality rare fruit or just bully through and use ancient fruit and starfruit in the wine casks. The truffle makers only make $1100.00 per truffle oil, but if you want to just make a bunch of jam makers and casks, it is less time consuming for the player to use starfruit and ancient fruit in those, because ancient fruit makes around $1200.00 for ancient fruit jam. I can't remember what the starfruit jam goes for, but I usually save that for wine. Anyway, I think you're still a more successful player than me. I'm getting close to the perfect mark, but I made a lot of time-wasting mistakes (I'm getting better, though).

Lemme explain, tree farms take a lot of space on your farm or desert. Putting hardwood into a woodchipper gives around 8-13 wood, and normally mahogany trees drop 10 hardwood. So, one hardwood tree can give around 80-120 wood, when normal trees only drop 18-23 wood.
Really the only downside is that it takes around 3 hours to make the hardwood, but i think its worth it.
My dad does non stop fishing when we play and his luck is INSANE,sure he has a fully upgraded rod including the bobbles and stuff but since 30th of summer i havent seen a silver or normal quality.ONLY gold or iridium quality

Fishing is definitely the best early game money maker, after investing a little time into it you can easily make 5-10k a day, i even got TWO dinosaur eggs spring year 1 from fishing and invested them into a a lizard coop and the payout is nice from dinosaur mayonnaise early on

There's a lot of expensive items if you plan to get 100% (or just unlock most things). Just the gold clock and all the teleport obelisks cost 13.000.000, return scepter for 2,000,000, etc. With 2,4 mil per month, it'd still take a year and a half ingame :,)
Other than that you can buy your way through some quests instead of farming resources, it just gives more options

I think hops in first year really can't be underestimated. You normally don't have enough funds to afford yourself *immense* quantities of star fruit seeds in the first year, and filling you kegs with hops is actually faster money than melons - hops offer excellent return for a much cheaper initial investment, should easily last you all winter even if you spend the rest of the year massing more kegs.
Agreed, hops are excellent in the first year for daily harvest experience, for pale ale money, and the gold quality ones are good eating at 81 energy/36 health.
after a ton of time of not playing stardew im gonna finnaly use the wiki,tutorials and hits to my absolute advantage.On my first playtrough i got to about 1m money but then it got boring so i just gave up (i never used the wiki or tutorials on that file,only hints from videos to help me from time to time)

Fishing tips (because I used to miss 80% of fix and am now able to get to level 5 fishing by the end of day 3)
First 2-3 days I devote all my time (other than watering) to fishing. All. Day. I don't sell my fish. These means I can pass out without losing money (or items- you don't lose items when passing out, only when you die). I fish till 2am. I want as much exp as possible.
The only exception to this is I sell enough fish to make 1800 for the fibreglass rod. You get a better chance for chests and I believe also a better bite rate. And can put bait on which gives a higher bite rate. More fish... More exp... More money
I use the training rod to get to level 2- just so my fishing bar increases. Then I dump it because you can't get above normal quality when using training rod. So cast your line directly in front of you to save time.
Further you cast your line, the better chance for higher quality fish (when not using training rod).
Getting perfect catches (feels impossible, but eventually you'll get them), give you more exp. Getting a treasure chest also gives you more exp. If you can get a treasure chest AND a perfect catch you've basically won the lottery lol.
Perfect catches up the rating of your fish (given it's not normal quality to begin with). Eg. Silver star will become gold... Gold will become iridium. These fish obviously sell for more and will also give you more energy.
Fish the mountain lake area during spring. I haven't done the math. But another math person said it's the best spot money wise in this season. Except when raining, fish in the river in cindersnap forest (because you can cast your line out further and therefore earn better qualities) for cat fish.
Eat seaweed/ algae first. Then eat chubs. They have the best energy vs sell price. Eat the best ones first. I use these as my main source of energy early game.
Fish bubble spots unless they're really far away in which cases usually I don't because you never know how long it'll take..
Don't be afraid to reset days. Day 2 I want to be level 3. Day 3 I wanna be level five. I make this happen so I can sell my fish for more profit.

how about I tell you a better method, selling tea tree saplings, they are super easy to make only need 5 wood 5 fiber and any seasonal seed of your choice, they sell for ALOT
500 for 1 tea tree sapling and you can easily make alot of them,

@@rorymax for 1 tea sapling you need 5 fiber 5 wood and 2 wild seasonal seeds, you can get the recipe as soon as playing for 14 days, and you can easily make large batches as soon as you get the recipe, I was getting wood and fiber before I got the recipe and I was getting alot of seasonal forageables, I was able to make 30k [without trying to hard] from just those alone, if I tried harder I probably could have made about 90k

Its a horse flute. You can get it in qi's walnut room after you unlock ginger island east (the farmhouse area)
It's a normal game thing you can get from Ginger Island with Qi gems. You use it to call your horse.

I'd just put your first harvest into kegs because you can still sell regular wine in the meantime.
Casks are really bad money per day, the best money (starfruit wine) is about 50 gold/day while kegs are >300. So if you're lacking room, filling the basement with kegs is better than casks. Once you get enough sheds/barns/whatever you can transition to casks, the money/day is poor but they require so little effort that you might as well, definitely the best money/rl-minute
