Nah, we made a couple mistakes here and there fasho. But when I was there we did not let ourselves consistently not know music, be off tempo, etc. we cared so much that it got to a point where directors could call a song and sit down if they wanted to. This is unprecedented.

Round 3 for JSU intro was purposely written with a delayed tuba part JSU does it all the time If you noticed they intentionally changed tempos in the beginning and the end of that song
Remember every band goes through this SU lost a lot of their tuba section members in that tragic accident and then lost some upper class to graduation then the following year they still was trying to get themselves together but JSU was down during that year but bounced up especially that trumpet section so they just had a 200 member outdoor event with some high schoolers I believe so let’s see
I disagree that the BOOM has been taking Ls a lot of years. We know KB has a slight SU bias, but a lot of people are mad that bias isn't enough to overcome how SU has been underperforming these last couple of years. Often when he was giving SU the Ws, it was mostly on the opinion of song selection. I actually like SU's battle plans recently. The problem has just been execution. Occasionally a song they played might not be a good response

They already have size and it’s not over . Jsu used to be small 2016 and 2017 for example and 2018 and still was killing bands and su used to be small to size is not an execuse Txsu is not there yet and never will be he been there since 2021 that’s 4 years and no change .
As a fan of the Juke, I give them a C-for the whole season!!! It doesn't seem like the students liked certain songs from certain arrangements and it seemed like they were comfy with it too. 🤷♂ Then apart from that, the musicians just weren't executing all season!! By Juke standards, this wasn't very pleasant. Gotta go back to the drawing board. But the Boom though, are growing on me fasho!! Loving what they are doing over there.
SU just didn't care this 5th quarter, they should've stayed & played at least two more songs cuz them songs was terrible. This had to be one of SU's worst performances in the Vet, now Ik for sure SU has fell off when every single reactor has given SU a lost for this battle, including Kvo.
I gotta draw the line here, SU did sell in this 5th quarter & coulda been better in the zero, has SU had some mistakes in previous battles yes they did but let's keep a stack. Other than Jackson who's the only one that can get a clear dub, who else has got a clear dub on this Southern with this current staff this year? Boom screamers gotta clean that up and if they cant handle it clean, gone down an octave. Luckily SU wasnt coming with much heat or those trumpets would have been deductions. Every other section clean but they not because of the screamers and holdovers... Then the holdover note be wrong.
I remember being in high school and never enjoyed playing the songs taylor wrote. They were bland and simple compositions. On the flip side, I thoroughly enjoyed Simmons arrangements. Plenty moving parts, counter parts, and dynamics for each instrument. I think they just have different attention to details and it shows
The fix is the Talent Pool and recruiting and not the Open door policy if you can Buzz a mouth piece auditions. After Haymer was Juked By the Same ones that are Sinking this Ship.. Dr. Simmons is a Special Talent . Nationally beyond the Marching bands he and his Assistants Not by any fault of his this Ship is Sinking ! One thing I can say is the juke doesn’t prepare like they did under Doc, Jackson,Haymer, and now that Simmons is gone, SMH. The staff that sudden ass right now I feel as if they’re not pushing them to their full potential.. the difference between new school and old school is creatively new school will always win when it comes to innovation, but old school or use certain old school methods and they will always make sure that things are prepared the right way. It’s like heating your food in the microwave versus on the stove, Quality versus quickness.

@1 - The zero qtr hurts the quality of the 5th. They are playing what… 5 or 6 songs in the 0 qtr and at least that many in the 5th. How many can they really play well? 2 - It gets boring. How long can you watch the same thing over and over again? 3 - The zero qtr is when the school does lots of announcements. They end up having to talk over the bands playing.
@@jawunshittys The athletic conference needs to put some rules around this. Eliminate the zero qtr. Limit the 5th to 5 rounds. These things can’t go on forever. This would also help keep events like the Bayou Classic relevant and different.

Boom screamers gotta clean that up and if they cant handle it clean, gone down an octave. Luckily SU wasnt coming with much heat or those trumpets would have been deductions. Every other section clean but they not because of the screamers and holdovers... Then the holdover note be wrong.

I remember being in high school and never enjoyed playing the songs taylor wrote. They were bland and simple compositions. On the flip side, I thoroughly enjoyed Simmons arrangements. Plenty moving parts, counter parts, and dynamics for each instrument. I think they just have different attention to details and it shows

One thing I can say is the juke doesn’t prepare like they did under Doc, Jackson,Haymer, and now that Simmons is gone, SMH. The staff that sudden ass right now I feel as if they’re not pushing them to their full potential.. the difference between new school and old school is creatively new school will always win when it comes to innovation, but old school or use certain old school methods and they will always make sure that things are prepared the right way. It’s like heating your food in the microwave versus on the stove, Quality versus quickness.

They need to eliminate the zero qtr and only have 5th qtrs.
Why
@1 - The zero qtr hurts the quality of the 5th. They are playing what… 5 or 6 songs in the 0 qtr and at least that many in the 5th. How many can they really play well? 2 - It gets boring. How long can you watch the same thing over and over again? 3 - The zero qtr is when the school does lots of announcements. They end up having to talk over the bands playing.

@@jawunshittys The athletic conference needs to put some rules around this. Eliminate the zero qtr. Limit the 5th to 5 rounds. These things can’t go on forever. This would also help keep events like the Bayou Classic relevant and different.
