    That was one of my favorite scenes in The Tudors was this pageant... Made for good scenes. I know a lot of the show is off, but I really enjoyed the show & Reign again inaccurate history, but very much loved watching it. I'm not much of a tv watcher, but only just recently discovered the shows last year in Netflix... Yeah a little behind on things, but oh well. Also watching The Crown... Love it and as many movies I can The Other Boleyn Girl, Elizebeth (played by Cate Blanchett) Wondering if you have any suggestions on something to watch..movie, tv or history...

I am full time carer for my mum, so am very, very short on time, but I am able to squeeze these little videos in between my jobs or when I've got ready for bed, and I really look forward to getting my daily Tudor fix !! I too love the Chateau Vert Pageant Scene on The Tudors. I know there were some inaccuracies in the series, but it got me really interested in finding out what was fact and what was fiction. It sparked my interest in everything Tudor!

    • @anneboleynfiles
      @anneboleynfiles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      William Cornish was in charge of a lot of entertainment at court until his death in 1523 and Eric Ives believes that he played Ardent Desire, so perhaps he chose the mottoes and roles. Although we can see all the expenses for the costumes etc. (payments made to tailor Richard Gibson) - see www.british-history.ac.uk/letters-papers-hen8/vol3/pp1548-1559 right at the bottom of the page - it doesn't say who chose the mottoes.

    I’d love to know more about people’s reactions to Henry having his wives executed. Were his future wives not concerned? What were his children’s opinion of him? Surely Elizabeth would have some resentment towards him for killing her mother and destroying all portraits of her? I know Elizabeth had a portrait in her locket ring made by an artist that knew Anne but that’s about it.
    Thanks!

    • @anneboleynfiles
      @anneboleynfiles  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      There was definitely shock regarding his execution of Anne Boleyn, and murmurings about the speed with which he replaced her with Jane. We don't know the personal opinions of his wife and children, and Elizabeth seems to have been proud to have been his daughter, but she also paid tribute to her mother by making use of her falcon badge.

    • @alessaapathy
      @alessaapathy 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Interesting. What his children thought of him never really crossed my mind until I recently watched the new 'Mary Queen of Scots', obviously movies aren't accurate but there was a moment in it where Elizabeth spat that she wasn't like her father, it piqued my interest.

    Who paid for these kind of lavish entertainments? Cardinal Wolsey sponsored the Chateau Vert party. Did he get the money to put this on from tithes and rents? What about entertainment at court that required cloth of gold, jewels, silks, velvets, etc.? Were those paid for by tax monies, and if so what did the “regular” folks think about their hard earned taxes being used to put on costly, one night only entertainments for an exalted few people? Or, was this just considered “business as usual”?
