Good video 👍I read recently that Portugal is struggling to keep their talents, their human capital due to better salaries abroad, especially in EU.

I wanted to ask the following:
If I incur expenses/VAT while setting up a business that will be located in Maderia can I claim these back once the company is set up? The company will be set up in Madeira within the next 6 months.
    thank you

I cannot give you a clear answer on this. You need to think this through yourself and define what you are good at. Then take it from there.

    Hi Oliver,
    Nice video.
What about this business idea: A consulting firm focus in international trade to promote Portugues products around the world (focus in China market), as well be the middle man to promote China Product to companies in Portugal, (tools, construction materials, etc)
    Thank you!

You are after the holy grail :-); no capital investment and endless fees coming in. It is a feasible business if you have the right relationships that can't be circumvented by your customers/suppliers. The main challenge is that usually Chinese contact the Chinese/Portuguese Chamber of commerce first and they usually redirect. Once a product or service is in demand usually the middleman gets cut out. Furthermore, currently due to the restrictions in China you need a Chinese Counterpart you can trust. A huge challenge.

I guess the business depends on your personal capabilities. Just be aware that usually restaurants or trade are not considered relevant businesses. Cheers good luck

Great video. After getting a startup visa and running a company, can i apply after 5 years for citizenship, without residing in portugal? (Just 2 weeks per year, similar to the golden visa)

I am not an expert on Portugiese migration law, but I could not find any indication in this direction. Furthermore I would doubt that it would make sense to found a Company in Portugal and then never be there. Guess that would be against their admission rules.. hope this helps
