@@impressedbydes991 I don’t guess I ever did an update on those particular seedlings, but I was just looking & I think I have only one of them left from that batch. It is getting ready to bloom in a few days, so maybe I will do just a quick video maybe even a “short”.
I love the name of your nursery. When people tell me that I have a green thumb I tell them it really takes a brown thumb (from digging in the dirt) to have a beautiful garden.
Thanks Matt!!! & thanks for the seeds!! I was going to start the other hibiscus today, but heat mat real estate is in high demand!! I’ve got moringa seeds sprouting on one & coneflower on the other.
Hey!! You’re very welcome!! Thanks so much for watching!! If there is any other videos you’d like to see, let me know. I’m always looking for new content ideas.
Many people absolutely swear that you MUST nick the seeds with a knife and keep them on a heat mat in order to get them to sprout, so I'm happy to see your excellent results with simply putting the seeds straight into the starter mix and keeping them humid and warm! It's been a year so you might not even see my comment, but I'm curious to know what type of heat mats you use, and what temperature setting (if they are adjustable).
I just have the cheap ones from Amazon. They don’t even have a temperature control. Just whatever they are when they are plugged in. However, I did notice that when I bought new ones, they are warmer than my ones that are several years old.
Thanks for sending me to this video! One more question, my seeds are a couple years old. Will they still be viable or should I get new ones? I probably have 1000+ seeds that I harvested from friends. On several different colors lol
@@brownthumbnursery Thank you! I can't wait to start them. Hibiscus are one of my favorite flowers! Along with Daylilies & Hostas. I have a ton of seeds for them too 🤣
Hi, I am doing some seeds I got on amazon bc I couldn’t find them locally and I’m following your process. I’ve got one sprout this morning! How long do I keep them in the humidity dome and on the heat mats? Thank you so much!
As soon as most of them have sprouted, you can remove them from the heat and humidity dome. You will need to gradually ween them from the humidity for a couple days. Thanks for watching! God Bless!!
I have found them at Lowe’s several times. I love the Proven Winners varieties. You might check with some of your local nurseries. They will probably have them. There are different varieties. Most of them are hearty between zones four through nine. We used to live in Michigan zone five and they did great there.
@@brownthumbnursery I've checked Lowes and a few other garden stores and can't seem to find the seeds anywhere. I have a few hibiscus plants in my front yard but want to try and grow some from seed.
Go to my TH-cam channel and slide over to the tab that says about. You will see the link for my Facebook channel there. You can leave me a message on Facebook messenger and we can go from there.
Great vid. My first time i will try growing seeds from my plants last year. i am north west jersey its almost feb. should i start now in house with your way. will use basement. will get heat mats and lights, temp down there is 58 degrees. what state are you? Thanks for your help.
Was there ever an update posted?

What about if you didn't have a heating pad or a growing light what would you do...
Find a warm spot with good light. Like a window possibly.

Forever changed the connotation of that date.
So banal and beautifull actions on such a crazy day...
Where can I purchase the seeds for dinner plate hibiscus flower plants? Thanks.

I know this is 2 years ago, but do you sell the dinner plate white hibiscus?
I don’t have any growing right now, but I am getting ready to start some seeds soon. It would be a while before I would have them ready to sell.
how can i avail your dinnerplate size hibiscus i m from the Philippines
I’m not sure. Do you have places that sell plants in the Philippines? If so, I would ask them if they can get some.
I simply dug a very shallow area and threw some dry seeds in.
Guess what? They are growing!!!! Not rocket science
Absolutely!! This just gives me something to do in the winter time.
