I forget what his name is, but he pitches for Florida and started in the SEC Championship this year against Tennessee. He was sitting like 80-84 the whole game and was shoving. Shows that it can be done

Rhp d1: high 80’s LHP D1: mid to high 80’s
Have seen one lefty pitcher go D1 (Air Force) & he threw low to mid 80’s. Probably more low 80’s than mid.

This years Denison baseball team (D3) has 5 righties that can hit 90 only two that sit 88-92… if you go top 25 at any level you’ll see 90+ the lower level guys tend to find velo after freshman year of college lifting and training

      Sheesh!! Good point

I think that the difference between the levels are that as you go down in Division level the a percentage of people who throw above 90 go down

I think velo is important, creates opportunities but better off speed and command creates higher division opportunities. Love the podcast, keep it up!

Hey what’s up man. Just wanted to say that I’m a big fan of your videos and I respect the grind bro! For the past year and a half I was at FPU (school in the pacwest) and I just wanted to wish you luck at APU man. They are a great program and were definitely tough to beat! It’s crazy because I have had a similar journey to you and can relate to you in a lot of ways. Whenever you get down to APU I would really recommend looking into training at PFA. Dave Coggin’s is the pitching coach there and he changed my career. For the longest I couldn’t get over 79-82 and it was frustrating asf considering the work ethic I had and how much I put into training. But after going there, my velo gradually increased and eventually I started hitting 91. I honestly think you’re very capable of hitting 90 and I think PFA would really benefit you (dr keenan is great too and I’m sure you’ll benefit from him too). They breeded guys like staumont and joe Kelly and I’m pretty sure some of the pitchers at APU go there as well. But yeah man, whenever you get down to so cal, if you ever need to throw with someone let me know! Other than that, keep grinding and putting out dope ass content bro!

Love how you’re talking about age and development.
A lot of dudes can be stronger and faster at age 17 18 but in my opinion we can all catch up with hard work at juco or wherever and develop around 20-22 to truly compete.
You should go over how the college baseball clock starts and works.
Because there is no age limit it’s all 5 year clock from your first spring game played I believe and I don’t think all people understand that.
Like you could literally take 2 years out of high school to train hard and develop speed and power and then go into a juco and red shirt year one without playing a spring game.
Train with the team for a whole year and start the next.
Now that means you would be around 22 years old with 3 years of development to catch up with speed, power, and adapting to the game with redshirting.
And now you can start your 5 year college baseball clock possibly having a college career between ages 22-27 y/o where the game can come different to you in a good way.
I just don’t think many understand that and if they do I don’t think they understand how that can help a lot of kids especially without d1 offers or any out of high school reach their potential
