Hi Misty! 😊 This is a great topic to discuss. Rather than be disappointed the buyer should always know what's included with the baby. But most importantly the baby should be wrapped securely and protected from any possible damage. The artist I use is local to me so I go to her home and she gets to see my reaction to her beautiful work in person. I love watching box openings, but there is also something to be said for in person adoption and reaction. Few buyers get to experience this and it's a special time for us to share❤ Have a great day!!!😊
I got my custom from an artist that even made him a custom hat! I also asked for mostly green and dinosaur themed and she delivered. Not the most expensive stuff but it was so cute and the care. I def believe that box openings are one of the best parts. I think the artist should always note what’s included in it.

I have been fortunate with my box openings. I'm always grateful for what the artist includes with my baby. Truthfully, I am wanting the art of the baby. Anything else, I consider a wonderful gift that truly is a bonus. Beautiful babies, Misty. 🌹❤
Well said! I agree but I think that every baby should come nicely wrapped and with a few small items, not expensive but pretty. It just the care and presentation of that baby to the new mom. 💗
I ordered my doll off Etsy. You had to pay extra for a box opening. I picked the cheapest option and my baby came with one outfit and one diaper. But I expected it and I still love her. Only paid a total of about $170 and she was shipped from England to the US. The artist was sweet and I will definitely buy from her again! Great topic to discuss.

I received a baby once that just came in a box with nothing at all - no wrapping or padding - nothing. I think that as I was so disappointed in it bouncing around the box without protection I just couldn't bond at all and ended up selling her. Great topic!
Same here, it’s just so frustrating & disappointing. It feels like no care was given whatsoever to the art. Almost feels like the artist put no love into it, just took the money and dumped the baby in a box. Sad
@@KitstoKradlesNursery I believe the artist was going away and literally just chucked her in a box and threw her in the post. So rushed and no thought. Not a cheap bub and I was so disappointed!
I received the worst box opening ever, 3 years ago. The artist did send some cute outfits but the doll was barely painted. It looked like a porcelain doll, almost. Yikes! It looked much better in the photos. I was a beginning collector then, with a lot to learn. Lol

OMG! These babies are just the most adorable babies ever. They are gorgeous, and Darren has totally stolen my heart. ❤️❤️ What is it about those darn preemies? ❤️❤️❤️❤️😋 This is a great topic. I don’t know that it has ever been discussed a lot in the community. I love watching box opening videos and have seen the whole gamut. There have been some really beautiful ones but also some nightmare ones. I think the buyer does need to be aware of what is included. I must say, I am one of the lucky ones. I generally make out pretty good in my box openings. Oh, I have had some very small ones but knew that going in, and the price of the baby reflected that. I do love box openings, but the big priority is making sure the baby has arrived safely. Even if you don’t get a box opening, special care, does need to be taken with the baby with wrapping and shipping. A great box opening is definitely a bonus to which I am always grateful for. It certainly doesn’t have to be designer or expensive stuff to look cute. Also, let me just say that I love your box openings, Auntie Misty. ❤️❤️❤️
Soooooo sweet! I agree, I’m happy if it shows that care was taken. Just no reason to throw baby in a box and ship. Every mom deserves a pretty box opening, even if it’s not expensive. You never know if it’s their very first or only baby. 💗

I’m a collector and last year I sold about 5 of my babies. I wasn’t (and still am not) super rich, however, I still sent home a small-medium sized box opening (I sent each baby home with a pacifier, a onesie, a sleeper, a blanket, and a toy/stuffed animal), and for one, it was their first ever authentic reborn, so I sent them a few extra things to make it more special.
Edit: I wrote out ‘thank you’ cards for every box as well. It was so easy and simple to just add a few items and make it a better experience for the buyer.

I think we all want a cute box opening, I don’t mind if is use clothes in good condition but also I think if artists don’t want or have the money to do a box opening talk with the client and offer them the option to pay extra for a box opening. I will love if the artist found thing that I can’t found in my country and send it to me I don’t mind to pay for it.❤

This is something I've been thinking about as a still-learning artist. box openings are fun and I LOVED the one you did for my Ronan (Harper), but baby stuff is so expensive lol and it adds up, even just the basics. I've seen some artists on etsy have the option to add on a box opening, or a more extravagant box opening, to the purchase, so I wonder how folks feel about that? I've also played with the idea of thrifted baby clothes (the goodwill near me gets overstocked on baby clothes very quickly so I don't feel that's taking away things more affordable options for real babies who might need that - but that might be different depending on where people live and their local stores). That's fine for my own collection but I wonder if there are people out there who'd be open to that as an option when receiving a new baby.

The upfront cost of painting is expensive, but once you have most of your supplies you can start making money.
I'd also be disappointed if I received a doll like you described. Unfortunately we learn from experience who to buy from. My last reborn had a very disappointing box opening. The doll was the fourth reborn I bought from the same artist and she advertises that she sends all of her reborns home with four outfits and a blanket. Each doll I bought came with less and less. The last one came with the outfit she had on and one other that was super cheap and didn't even fit. She was very expensive too. The doll is beautiful, but still disappointing.
I agree! Especially when you pay thousands of dollars for a doll, there is no reason why you can’t wrap that baby up pretty and throw a few inexpensive items in the box and just make a nice presentation. I’m an artist I get that you’re buying the art but still I want every mom to have a beautiful experience, even though my box openings aren’t extravagant I still want their presentation to look like they were handled with care and love and I want every mom to have some kind of box opening with their baby even if it isn’t the most expensive. My heart absolutely broke to just see a silicone doll thrown into a box and basically sent home in the items that were used to protect the blank kit. 💔
@@KitstoKradlesNursery That's unbelievable, almost like a slap in the face. It's definitely a reflection on the artist and shows that they don't care or respect their customers. It's all about money to them. Carters and the Gap always have great sales and cute baby items. I get it if you want to cut costs and specifically ask for just the doll, but that should be discussed upfront.
