Excellent! Such a classy sound and beautiful musicality. He deserves his place in the top ranks of world class tenors! I hope he is around for many years to come.
I like this guy. He's one to watch. I like the clean, simple line of his singing. If I were speaking to him now I would say, go for the dynamics that the composers wrote (which I think he is doing more than most already) This musicality is what, I think, excites audiences. Very good.
Muy bella y buena interpretación, muy buen manejo y todo, solo hubiese pedido que no sólo cantara bien, sino que más aun hiciese suya la parte emocional, tomando vida en el personaje o lo interpretado. Pero obviando lo último es muy buena.
The REQUIEM is my favorite of all Verdi's operas (!!!) and the tenor has the best of the sublime offerings. Next lifetime I'd like to return as a great tenor ( a GOOD tenor not merely ad competent tenor) and sing UNA FURTIVA LAGRIMA and the INGEMISCO. Sing this last as beautifully as Mr. Fabiano, Mr. Bjorling and my favorite Veriano Luchetti sing it. P.S. There was no black folder for Mr. Fabiano's score. Looks not polished sorry to say. At least he is holding an actual score and not a tablet. I see young singers 'reading' scores from their handheld computers and it is unseemly. Use of the tablet for study or reheasing is tolerable and convient (I suppose) but when it come to concerts, have some class. Conservatories allow/ encourage this. It's a shame. Keep Art alive. Use published hard-copy scores for performing .
Cont. the tongue is thick at the base. Especially on Ingem(i)sco he sings ingeMIhsco instea of mEE he does the same with the held AY vowel. Sounds UHR. Modification is killing opera. It's over done. I'm sure the "you're jealous" is coming next but I'm not. I'm just typin what I'm hearing.
So I owe you a bit of an apology, I responded without seeing exactly which note you were talking about. Yes, that note has a SLIGHTLY lazy /i/ vowel. But just slightly-- I still recognize it as an /i/ not an /I/ or an /e/. Furthermore, latin's a dead language -- unless you have some 2000 year old recordings I don't know about, it's a little artificial to talk about exactly precise vowels in latin (although historically, we usually choose a convention based on the composer's or performers' country of origin.) Here's the reason I hate to hear such criticism -- Michael Fabiano has a gorgeous voice, and sings with a LOT of passion, always connecting with the audience - and his technique is not BAD no matter how you cut it. That kind of performing, even if it were accompanied by a less than perfect but functional technique, will build audiences -- not clinically "correct" singing.
I've listened to this clip so many times that TH-cam now offers it daily, and I can't resist.

His face is so sensitive that it reacts to the music as part of the singing. He's just wonderful.
Such an exciting top... He's really mastering his instrument. It's nearly seamless the way he sings this piece. Bravo, Michael!
A wonderful interpretation and the best phrasing of anyone I’ve ever heard sing this demanding aria!
Bravo Michael. Love your emotional singing

GOOD FOR HIM. What immense growth in every way since his Met audition-winning days. So impressed with the beauty of this.
Phenomenal. Always in control.
What a beautiful voice, Mr. Fabiano! Just beautiful!
Karlott
He has perhaps the most impressive voice I’ve ever heard live. Loads of squillo.
you must have heard too little.
Eine der schönsten Stimmen derzeit.....!!!

How can 18 people dislike this?

BRAVO!
A great Lyric Spinto Tenor
He was absolutely amazing as Gennaro in San Francisco Opera's Lucrezia.
Brava!!!!!!
Stupendo
Molt al seu lloc. Bravo !
Fine performer.
Unfortunately I saw Corelli in the Verdi Requiem so others are quite pale. Fabiano is very nice and I can enjoy him very much in more lyric roles.
+Operafilli What the f are you talking about - more lyric than the Requiem? This aint Trovatore you know!
Tevyeh613 To be fair, the original tenor soloist in the Verdi Requiem was a dramatic tenor, making his career singing roles like Manrico and Pollione.
It's his moonlighting job...
I almost hear a young Pavarotti in him
Excellent. The tone is not quite as full as Pavarotti, but who’s is?
His tone and flawless technique reminds me a little of Nilkolai Gedda.
Oh, and I didn't know Stephen Colbert played the oboe...

ricorda come voce tagliavini e gigli
È tutto indietro, non ha proprio niente di gigli

Nice mezza-voce! Dang, I'm reminded of Pavarotti. Yup, he knows how to do it.

Uno scempio , inascoltabile ,questa è arte riservata soltanto a pochi eletti
Yet Idiots think this great Talent sings nasally ha
He is a great Young Tenor
Next Caruso??? Hahahaha. He sounded better after the met auditions. He is tryin to darken the sound. It's thick.

Yeah, try singing a vowel completely true to speech on a Bb. Good luck. Post the video when you try!
I can dumbass. And I don't have to post it there are PLENTY of greats that don't modify here on TH-cam smart guy
Not to mention from the first seconds, as I pointed out, he is modifying a freaking éflat.... Seriously?? Why? The vowel is EE NOT INGEMIIHHH SCO...
Jerry Hadley's recording... Go listen to it.

Voice is so far back... So much echo. Bah...
BRAVO!
