UU test is used to identify whether Faliure will occur once the construction is completed. This test is used to see whether the soil will be able to sustain the structural load or not. The Other tests are used to determine the long term sustainability of the soil.
Any one can help me with the solution??? a consolidated undrained triaxial test was conducted on a saturated clay. when the confining pressure was 200 kN/m2, the sample failed at a deviator stress of 500 kN/m2. The pore water pressure was 150 kN/m2. The failure plane occured at an angle of 60° to the horizontal. lf the same specimen were tested in a drained test with a confining pressure of 200 kN/m2 then the deviator stress of soil specimen is kN/m2.
Because we don't have to wait for the drainge to occur. The other tests are long because we have to wait for the expulsion of the excess pore water pressure. The CD test takes longest because we have to wait for the drainge to occur in two stages. First when the confining pressure is applied thats is also known as consolidation test. Second is after the application of deviator stress or the excess normal stress.
