Ive been following you since I started AP with a smartphone, were you really motivated me to push through. Its been a while since I lost track of your channel and its so refreshing to find it back again, now with more experience and being able to get a better grasp of what youre trying to show us. Thank you and clear skies!
Hi Pedro, thank you for your lovely comment, I'm glad you found my channel again and hope that you are encouraged in your own astro adventures. Clear Skies to you 🙂
Thanks Avanteesh, the cluster is a beautiful target and I was pleased to get the different colours of the stars. The Askar FMA135 is a lovely piece of kit for this sort of thing. Enjoy the rest if the weekend 🙂
The double cluster was one of the first targets I imaged 2 years ago when I began this hobby of ours, albeit I imaged at 420mm. It’s a beautiful object visually and photographically. You do it justice John and I think the 2nd one just edges it. As you aptly describe it “jewels set against a black velvet cloth”.
Thank you Ian, much appreciated 🙂. I also think I like the second one best. I'll have another go at it at some point using the Redcat 51, which I reckon would produce an amazing result. Hope you have a good week.
Another fantastic capture John! I really like the more darkened sky image with the clusters really popping! I was surprised that you were able to capture the Ha dust with an unmodified camera as well, very nice!
Thanks for another great video. I really like the second image as it really draws your eyes to the star colours but still brings out the surrounding HA :)
Nice looking final result Jon, sometimes these clusters like you say can look quite magical. Looks like that Heart nebula nearby could be a nice target for you too. Clear skies :)
You created really nice looking final images John. Those star clusters are really nice. - Unfortunately, I was a little late with watching your latest AP video. Hope you are well and having some clear nights.
Thanks for watching Tully. It has pretty well been non stop rain this November (trying to compensate for 3 months with no rain this summer). I have managed a couple of short sessions outside though, which is better than nothing. Hope you are having more luck 🙂
@@thecampingastronomer8554 Always a pleasure. - I know exactly what you mean..,we had the same situation in summer. We don't have much rain but clouds (at night) for the last days (and weeks before). - Hope we will both have a better situation soon. :)
Thanks Jon! This is helping me to decide between the Askar 135 and the 180. Your camera is a aps-c sensor, isn’t it?, did you crop the image? Subscribed btw! Thanks again
Thank you for subscribing and watching and commenting on my video 😃. Yes, the image is cropped and my camera is a cropped sensor dslr. To give you an idea of the full field if view, have a look at the partially processed image in the video where it shows a bit of the Heart Nebula in the lower left corner. If you pause the video at this point it will helo. This image has a small bit of cropping around the edges to get rid of cropping artefacts, but is pretty well the result out of the camera. So, you'll see I did quite a big crop to get my final image. I think the quality of the Askar is such that you still get a nice image despite this. I was also thinking about the 180, but thought that the 135 would be more versatile. I am really impressed with the Askars ability to capture the colours in the stars.
It's pouring down here too 😢. I was meant to be in Wales wild camping this weekend but have postponed it till next weekend. I am becoming a wimp in my old age 🤣
@@thecampingastronomer8554 Understandable! I wouldn’t want to be in the Brecon Beacons in dodgy conditions. Mind you, I wouldn’t be climbing them in the best of conditions 🤣… I know my limits 😳 Hope you and the family are doing well Jon 🙏

Nice Final Image John! The Double Cluster is Really beautiful with all the stars Around! That Lens Looks Awesome

@@thecampingastronomer8554 - and you John. Take care 🤝

Thanks Joe, I also like the version with darker skies, and was quite surprised to see some Ha in the image.
Both great images
. I'd probably go for the second if I had to choose. Thanks and well done for grabbing the short break in the clouds.
Thank you for that, it's interesting how you can vary the final image depending on how you process it. Hope you have a good weekend 😊

Thank you Daniel 😊. I think I prefer the second image also. Thanks very much for watching, hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend 👍

Thanks Ollie, the Heart Nebula has been a bit of a nemesis of mine up to now, but I reckon I'll be giving it another go soon with the Redcat 👍

Good work Jon 👍… it’s pouring rain 🌧 in Norfolk, so no chance of photographing anything through breaks in the clouds 😂🤭

@@thecampingastronomer8554 👍👌
I think the second is a better "picture" but the first including the gas is probably the truer of the two
Thanks Paul, I am inclined to agree with you as I like the greater contrast in the second image. Hope you enjoy the rest of the weekend 👍
If you put a cooled camera and filter drawer on that redcat mate you wont look back, its like night and day buddy. Nice images i like them both
Thanks Bill, I think I will need to progress to a dedicated astro camera at some point. Thanks for watching, much appreciated 🙂
Hi, we'd like to send you a collaboration proposal. How can we get in touch?
